Paying more money than WWE did.
People act like they bribed WWE's biggest stars away with sackfuls of cash, and that was somehow a bad thing.
Put that in perspective of wherever you work, and think about what you'd do if some competing company offered you 2-3x the money for less hours.

Forcing the WWE to stop paying people in 'opportunity' is a massive one. The WWF's contracts in the 90s were onesided, even compared to those of today, it made it possible to functionally end wrestling careers without ever firing guys. People like Bob Holly and Justin Credible could not afford to live and work on what the WWE was giving them, Bob Holly had to be bailed out by Sid so he could stay on the road and not just quit and go back to welding, Justin Credible was being paid starvation wages in Memphis and had to sign an agreement not to sign with WCW in order to be released from a horrendous deal. Their contracts probably wouldn't have held if lawyers were involved, but if you can't afford to eat, you're not getting a contract lawyer and risking being blackballed. The WWE had to start paying talent their worth into the attitude era, and that would never have happened if not for Hall, Nash and Bret leaving for guaranteed money, leaving them having to actually negotiate.
Bringing lucha talent to a wider audience. ECW fans will claim Heyman discovered all these guys from nowhere, but nah, most of the cornerstones of the Cruiserweight division either worked for WCW in dark matches or one of the worlds collide ppvs prior to ECW, or were buddies with Konnan, who opened a lot of doors for talent there.

WCW pushed Paul Roma much better than WWE ever did. When Roma was in WCW, he was a tag team champion along with Arn Anderson as The New Horsemen. They had success, albeit briefly, before dropping the belts to The Nasty Boys. He was also known for being part of Col. Robert Parker's Studd Stable. He had success with Paul Orndorff as Pretty Wonderful, feuding with Kevin Sullivan and Cactus Jack for the tag team titles.
Roma in WWF was a job guy with Jim Powers as The Young Stallions. When he teamed with Hercules, they were irrelevant in the tag team picture after getting squashed by the Legion of Doom in Wrestlemania VII.

Too my knowledge the only people upset about WCW paying a lot to lure away talent were the WWF.

They knew how to push Lance Storm properly. Not even ECW could do that.

Putting the World Title on Ron Simmons, making him the first black World Champion. And WWE gave him that condom helmet gimmick soon after.

The role that sting vs the NWO would play in history. Scott Hall is the mastermind behind the crow suggestion for sting to rival the new world order and so this entire thing which would be so big in that time frame---as one of the bright spots for them. Scott Hall said to the brass let's give sting the crow look and have him be the "hero" of this angle so when we get this band together of baddies we can rival sting and have the fans choose who they like between us. Scott is a real hero. Sting's baby-faced hero-like personality vs the evil empire of new world order nwo ice. Plus the fact that there was a decision that would impact this entire story; that decision was choosing Hogan to be a heel for bash at the beach and sting to be the hero where originally sting was discussed as the heel but they didn't know how that would work so they changed it fast to Hogan which would work out better and the right decision was made.

El Gigante had a much better run in WCW than he did in the WWF. WCW played to Gigante's strengths. He was this gentle giant who was adored by young children. The bookers limited his in-ring action because they knew he was a limited wrestler and it worked. He was over with the crowd.
When he was in WWF as Giant Gonzalez, his matches with Undertaker stunk up the place. Vince put him in the ring for too long and fans saw his deficiencies. Brawling, choking, and pouring chloroform in a towel and on his opponent's nose.

Someone who thinks just like me. Scott Hall is my personal hero and way too many people crap on him on message boards despite never having met him. I think the crow Sting made his career over the last 20 years. I kind of hated seeing him go to dark hair in 1995 because I liked the surfer Sting more, I don't really like the dark Sting but I know he embraces that much more and probably allows him to do more for his age given the costume. However I can't see the blonde hair, face paint Sting going 25 years still wrestling. It was more of a product of the time much like Ultimate Warrior or all American Hulk. The fans would get tired of it at some point. Being the darker crow-like Sting has allowed fans to embrace him year after year where other guys didn't fit in the late 1990s era like Hogan and Warrior and Hogan had to turn heel and Warrior had to go away for years.
