Seriously? We're defending negative aspects of a PPV on the basis that they "worked hard"? Well, who gives a crap if they worked hard? As consumers we're interested in the final product. I'm sure a lot of the New York Jets worked their asses off this season, that doesn't automatically make it a successful one. And I don't know why we should differentiate between cheapness and a technical error. The Shockmaster was a technical error too, that doesn't excuse it. The "end result" was I got to watch multiple 4-star matches and some debuts that made me happy, the @#$% are we all on about, here? Yeah, it was a botch, and that sucked because Kingston and Mox deserved a ton better than that for such an emotional spot. Ok, life moves on, the rest of the show was pretty great. That's my feelings on this. Yeah, that ending explosion was blah, but it didn't really ruin the rest of the night. I felt like I got my money's worth.

I think the moment should obviously be laughed,it is gonna be a shockmaster moment of sorts and there is fair critiscism within it. But man you can totally tell when the peopl are just WAITING to jump into an AEW mistake and blow it out of proportion And they’ve been holding it in for a few days because they fully expected to get that release with the Shaq match on Wednesday....

Strange how this person who's only begun posting tonight in this thread right now after the show knows exactly how cj posts in WWE section. Yeah I noticed that too. Probably just a coincidence though 🙄 People love calling me a hypocrite because I can be negative on WWE at times WWE's had years of dumb shit happen both in and out of show, being harsh on them seems pretty logical and much more normal than waiting for a big f***up from a fledgeling company to dive down peoples throats and wish for it to be dead. Idk maybe it's just me just me, but I think things are getting a bit too testy here. When we start attacking each other I think it's when we need to say "Enough".

More I thought the explosion was the only bad part of the show, the people getting pissed that Christian showed up and "Just signed a contract" literally ignored what was f***ing advertised, Paul said the new talent was going to sign the contract live in the ring... he did that. The decision to hype Christian as a surprise was always a bad decision and here is why. Yes Christian was a great world champ in TNA, and he has always been very good in the ring. But fairly or unfairly he is gonna always be known as Edge's comedic tag partner. Debuting Christian as a surprise? Not a bad idea. Calling him a hall of fame caliber performer (while true) and saying this is a big time get that will help AEW a lot? Not a good decision Christian is a goofy lackey in WWE kayfabe alone. And I'm not even big on the guy, but your short selling of him is reminiscent of Vince himself.

Then why did they not format the damn show then!? Ughhhhh now they really gotta wear this L Just to clarify, wrestletaint.gov is a running gag Lancers has here. It’s not a real website. ...unless Lancers opened it recently and actually has a source? Wrestletaint.gov isn't a real site? Then who the hell am I sumbitting articles to? Explains why I haven't gotten paid either

As a retail manager, I have to say...if your checkout experience sucks, then it doesn't matter how well the rest of your shopping trip went, how easy everything was to find, how helpful the staff was, or what value you got for your money. You had a bad experience.
This main event was sold on the promise of an exploding ring and they didn't deliver. Is it "fair" that that singlehandedly undermines the match itself and the show itself? To use a phrase that Mike & Mike were fond of using, "It doesn't matter if it's fair."

No. It really isn't on the fans this time. The company knew what they were doing. They promised a hall of fame level of talent and by any objective metric, Christian has had a hall of fame career.
If it was someone as big as Cena or Lesnar or even Punk, the surprise debut would've been on Dynamite and they'd advertise the holy hell out of them being at the PPV to drive buyrates.
Moxley wasn't.

There was a way to go about debuting him. Hyping it up like its gonna shock the industry was not it. Its not 2005 anymore. They failed to deliver.
You get that makes it a bigger deal, right, not a lesser one?
There's no way to make a debuting Christian a big deal in 2021.
He was literally in the final four of the Royal Rumble this year oh my god
Which means f***-all.

It means f*** all that he was a major focus on a big four of a WWE Pay Per View? Coming back and wrestling for the first time in years legitly? Making it to the final four of a world title match for Mania? That's... not how "f*** all" works.

WCW shows were full of awesome matches, but the awful shit is all that seems to come up when people reflect on it.

I just feel now they gotta do Deathmatch 2, and make sure they go bigger, and make the ring explode BEFORE the match ends. Im already thinking if the feud is personal enough, explosive strait jacket.

Man, just reading the last few pages makes me glad I skipped out on the live thread. Ending "explosion" aside I enjoyed the show overall. That's all I'm gonna say here.

Dude's a multiple time tag champ, IC Champ, he's a former World Champion, he spent several years even in WWE away from Edge This shit is unfair to Christian, full stop. People who have this viewpoint I feel it's their fault, when Christian's proven to be his own man plenty of times. Christian isn't someone i'd build my PPV around as a big surprise but he fits the build Probably would been better off with him just showing up. They didn't build the PPV around him though, they announced a signee a week before the PPV happened and everyone blew up and decided to think it was gonna be Austin, Lesnar, Batista, or Punk People were saying it could be Christian days ago in our own thread and now all of the sudden it's lame, I just don't get it sometimes.

It's also worth remember Sammy Guevara and Matt Hardy's feud. People got upset, doom was foretold, and then life moved on. AND everyone involved in that recovered nicely. I will bet my ENTIRE next pay check that explosion was a pure, unintended botch. Botches happen all the time - big and small. Does it suck that it happened in this specific instance? Hell yes. Does it kill the company and my enjoyment of said company? Um. No. Far f***ing from it. There’s a reason why the little British guy with the website continues to run a profitable business.

Again, it's not 'hate-watching' if you enjoy the weekly show and willingly paid $50 for the show. I'm not going to waste hours just to watch something I'm assuming I hate. Dude you were digging at everything tonight and frankly it got tiring, I'm not questioning your AEW fanhood but maybe if you didn't like the show or felt it wasn't worth the fifty dollars, stepping out of the thread is better then going back and forth with people who did like the show? Or maybe, let's roll with history off the board and let people enjoy posting their opinions, positive or negative. To be completely honest this shit is why I've all but given up on discussion of the shows, people's obsession with them destroys any attempts to have a good time actually giving their opinions. God forbid you find something about AEW you didn't enjoy or something about Raw you did, it doesn't matter because it has become nothing but a ticket for people to shit on your opinion. It's not f***ing fun to watch a show with you guys and gals knowing that just one post will blows up your notifications with people spending more time tearing you down than watching the show. Now, I'll go back to acting like these threads doesn't exist for 99% for time.

Hey, if you don't want Cornette and his stans crapping on your product, then do better. Or at least call an audible and somehow tell Eddie Kingston not to sell that crap like he was dead. Almost no botch or plot hole in wrestling history can fail to be explained away by "mind games," but that doesn't cover for Kingston. If anyone can promo himself around this its Eddie. I enjoyed the show a lot to be honest. I was disappointed by Christian coming out but the person I wanted to come out was Chris Hero which would have been an even bigger disappointment to most people. There is a classic problem AEW has where the matches go on for about 5 minutes longer than they really need to and that was especially true of the ladder match. The main event was great until the terrible finish that reminded me of the worst era of NWO interference finishes. Kingston coming out to save Mox probably would have saved it to some degree but then sparklers hit. Honestly if they figured out that was the best they could do, they should have called an audible where the explosion was an actual dud and have Kingston and Mox swear revenge while laughing.
