Tunney left the WWF in the summer of 1995, but what if he lasted into the Attitude era? Would he become one of Vince's stooges? I guarantee at least there would be a segment where Austin gives him the stunner.

I can't recall how Tunney's departure went. Was there a storyline, or anything on TV? Or was he just gone?

The only thing I remember was that Gorilla Monsoon was president out of nowhere.

Him taking a stunner would’ve been cool to see

He’d probably be the JJ Dillon to Vince’s nWo-Bischoff, the authority figure who can push back in the boardroom and get a ruling in favor of the babyfaces.
Austin would still stunner him anyway, because that’s just the character’s way of saying “thanks buddy”. He’d chuck Tunney a beer before he hit it though.

I can imagine DX making fun of him. Either Road Dogg or Jason Sensation imitates him in an unflattering way.

He’s definitely taking the ho’s in exchange for giving The Godfather an IC Title match

I would have loved if he continued to give the same type of monotone by the book announcements but with the craziness of the era, like this:
"Now I am sure most WWF fans appreciated getting to see Sable's breasts live on PPV. However, the contract was clear. The definition of a bikini was clear and therefore, I must make the following ruling..."

I was surprised to find out he wasn't as old as I thought he was when he passed. He looked ancient in the 1980s. I can't see him doing anything physical but can see Shawn and Hunter being their real selves and being absolute jerks to him on TV. I thought he was pretty good for the time period but would be totally out of place in the Attitude Era. With his exit from WWF, the most surprising thing is that they kept calling Gorilla "interim" president. Like why wouldn't he be president from then on. Who else could they get? Unless Gorilla himself wanted it to be temporary and get back into commentating. It's a real shame what happened with Tunney though. Whatever happened must have cut pretty hard with WWF for him to never be mentioned again unless a book or online article requires it.

He'd still be on the take.

I dunno, I think by his last year or so he was moreorless out of the on-air role. To think, there used to be a day when the figurehead president/commissioner/general manager was not something the WWF/E ever needed.... Maybe he'd have been game for something, but I think he was absolutely an old-timer guy with that classic mentality whose role would've been recast with someone younger or def. more active in the current product. I can't recall how Tunney's departure went. Was there a storyline, or anything on TV? Or was he just gone? Nothing on TV, but WWF Magazine did a story around the time of his actual departure about how he'd been "bought" by DiBiase and resigned when the news broke. IIRC his last TV appearance before that had been many months, maybe even a year, earlier.

He'd still be on the take. The best president since Noriega!

"Good evening. After extensive consultation with the WWF's rules committee, I have determined that Kaientai are in violation of WWF Rule BF546-1 which clearly prohibits any attempt to chop off the penis of another wrestler. Therefore, they are all to receive 30 day suspensions, and their katana blades will be hereby banned from all WWF venues"

Tunney's last TV appearance was at the first In Your House--he's seen arguing with Lawler after the opening match, with Lawler trying to force Bret to wrestle him immediately afterward. His retirement was announced on TV sometime in July.

If his head didn't explode trying to make sense of early 1997, he would have quit because life's too short to make a ruling on a Los Boricuas vs. DOA feud.
