I'm not surprised, but I am very disappointed and angry. Manson was very influential in my formative years and meant a great deal to me. What a f***ing piece of shit.

I know rock stars lead hedonistic lives and get more you-know-what than a toilet seat. But when I read MM’s memoir I was appalled by his descriptions of his drugged up antics with groupies. Way across the line of perverted into flat out abusive.so this is no surprise at all, I totally believe he’s capable of it.

Also makes the era of Smackdown where they use The Beautiful People as a theme song quite uncomfortable whenever they use it (as it was used also as the interstitial music when hyping matches).

Redub it with a cover version?

I will treat this the way I treat all these accusations: I don't know whether it happened or not until some kind of proof comes out.
As for the thing about "I'm not surprised" and all that shit people are saying, that's bullshit. I look like a f***ing Satanic psycho. I'm a big giant dude and all my clothes are ripped up and covered in skulls and stuff. I look like I will murder your family if you look at me wrong. However, the reality is that I'm a Jewish vegetarian that would never harm another person unless in self defense and opens doors for old ladies and stuff. You can't judge a book by its cover.
For the record, I'm not standing up for him. I'm just saying let's wait until there is proof before we nail him to the wall and let his hit songs fade into obscurity. And let's not judge people based on the way they look.

Well, need to come up with a new theme for one of my CAWs since I guess her using Putting Holes in Happiness is out.

Here's what I never understand about this line of thinking; What proof are we looking for? Like, are we looking for him to confess or for Wood to show bruises even though it's been a long time since the relationship happened? Because if we're treating it as 'her word against his', it feels like a misunderstanding of why people have spoken out about this stuff in the past and why the system doesn't exactly help people in these situations most of the time. I'm not even saying believe them unconditionally but it's really not as simple as you're making it out to be.

I don't think people "aren't surprised" because of his appearance, from what I hear he's said a lot of crazy shit in interviews and his book.
Was he not up in court for doing something dodgy to a security guard?
Not a fan of him at all although I did like mechanical animals but nothing really else.
I'll always remember him supporting Iron maiden in dublin and someone threw a shoe that smacked him in the face.

I'm not surprised about Manson because these rumors have been around him for years at this point. I'm not judging him solely on his appearance; far from it.
Wood is also one of several women who have spoken out against him now.

I think I mean for a court of law to find him guilty, him to confess, someone have video or audio recording or something like that. Or even for someone else that he's dated to show evidence or something. But then there's that whole thing about "what technically is truth" and that "sometimes no proof means there's a cover up" and shit like that. I'm all for people who actually do this shit getting their lives and careers ruined. But it's a slippery slope that when anytime someone makes an accusation like this they are pretty much generally believed. You can lie and ruin someone's life with shit like this.

And let's not judge people based on the way they look. It's not even how he looks, to be honest. He's been fairly open about this for years and years (which as I said, I always wondered was just him bullshitting as part of an outrageous rock star persona) and now someone's actually blown the whistle on him. He basically hid behind a veil of...the truth.

Not surprised. MM went all in on that Marquis de Sade hedonism from pretty much day one. I think that a lot of us overlooked it because we thought that he was just playing a character and everyone involved was just “working the gimmick” or something similar.
The reality is that most abusers find a way to hide in plain sight.

The conviction rate for something like this infamously terrible, and that's if anyone even wants to try to take him to court over it or get criminal charges. I'm not sure this is an example where your burden of proof is going to be met in that regard - but if you'd listen if another of his exes spoke out, then great, because that's way more than am awful lot of people do. In fact the reason I joined this thread was to reply myself to also say 'plus the vast majority of people that look like Marilyn Manson are not abusers.'

I'd also like to add it's not because of how Manson looks, it's just that he's been casual about it and we're not sure if he's playing a character or serious, there's even a lost short film he made called Groupie which has some questionable content, look it up yourself I warn you it ain't pleasant or safe so I'll refrain from linking anything you look it up. And since someone brought up Sade, he didn't look like someone like Manson either. He was a short foppish guy, even shorter than Napoleon, not to shame people of shorter stature, I'm not a tall person myself neither, but it makes you wonder.

Just want to add, I've spent the last half hour or so looking into this and it doesn't look good for Manson. His exes all say he was horrible except Rose McGowan who say he was good to her personally but she believes the others.
Then there's a thing where when McGowan spoke out against Weinstein, Manson said he "didn't like the way she handled it" and "every day men are accused of something" and shit like that.
I'm not saying he's guilty, but this actually does seem like a case of "where there's smoke..."
It's a shame. He has a lot of great songs and he was always one of my heroes in terms of people "being themselves" and stuff. Of course when we live in a world where even Bill Cosby is a sex offender, nothing shocks me.

I have a hard time relating to someone who is just 4 years younger/older than me, I have no idea how people date someone who is 20 years younger than themselves As the former friend of such a predator, it's much easier to control and manipulate someone whose younger, more naive and looking for validation.
