As I said with Pascal, you would really thought every single character in the TV show is voiced by the same person in the game
Wonder how many people is going to get into the game from here

I would assume we are getting 3 seasons and maybe more assuming TLOU Part 3 game is released
Mazin said he doesn't want to overtake narrative of the game and feels like he needs more than 1 season to to do Part 2
I still feel they def could got more than 1 season out of part 1 but 9 episodes should be fine. Part 2 will def be a big one to unpack especially with way that game went

Yeah this was really good. Cool to see how much it still feels and looks like the game. I am excited to see how this goes. I’ll definitely be watching every week.

I only saw the last half of game play for the first game, and most of the second game, so this is the part of the story I don't really know. I'm really liking it so far though, looking forward to next week!

I played the game once a few years ago so I'm not the biggest expert on it, although some scenes and events are quite vividly burned into my mind!
I thought the first episode did a great job of introducing everything and setting up the season. I'm glad they kept with a slower pace and didn't just jump straight into showing the horrors that'll come later. I'm looking forward to the rest.

definitely above average start ... and i forgot how the thing started, even though i started the game last year! it's pacing for the feature length, and also it's energy, slightly lacking ... but it did well although it didn't bring anything actually new to the story of the characters, or doesn't fill in the spaces ... the attack on the fireflies base being a major one! staying TOO close for an adaption can lead to big problems later on, so they have to be careful. even to the point of showing stuff like how tommy got that separated, or inbetween those twenty odd years FILL THE STORY IN but i'm guessing their sticking to joels and elles viewpoint, which is fine can't wait for the 15 minute part where they need to find a plank but it's a good simple and CLEAN start for newcomers to the whole franchise too, so that definitely gives it oomph WILL CONTINUE TO WATCH and hell maybe get back to the game too 8/10

I watched the first episode today. I will give some insight. {Spoiler}{SPOILER: CLICK TO SHOW}Being that I played and completed the first game recently, I was able to pinpoint certain aspects from the opening cutscene/mission. However, I saw some differences, which I was fine with.
I will note that I looked closely at the way the elderly lady convulsed in the background when Sarah was at the neighbor's house. I figured what was to come.
I also don't mind what was done with Joel and Tess's relationship. In the game, it was implied that the two were more than just business partners. Here it's shown that they're possible lovers after it was shown that they shared the same bed.
I also liked that it showed Ellie's perspective. The actress nailed the performance, especially how she was in the first game. It was clear that the girl had studied the character. Being that Ashley Johnson will be featured, I have a feeling that Johnson helped the young actress as well.
Also, did anyone know that Marlene is played by the same woman who voiced her? Good casting choice in my opinion.

Fantastic start. Definitely have a new Sunday appointment viewing.
My wife was convinced the scientist guy in the beginning talking about fungus was Dr. Bashir from Deep Space Nine.
She maintained this even when I pulled up recent picture of Alexander Siddig showing they look absolutely nothing alike, pointed out that one guy is a Scottish white guy and the other is Middle Eastern (though a later search actually showed Sudanese/English. Siddig has an interesting background, his uncle on his dad's side was PM of Sudan twice and his uncle on his mom's side is actor Malcolm McDowell. But I digress)
I said she must have a brain tumor pushing on her facial recognition. She was not amused.

Never played the games, but I enjoyed the first episode of the show.
I like that the fungus zombies were barely used while they established the world and the story.

I mean, cool, but we are only a single episode in. I think it would be more of a bragging right if it's still up there come the end of the season.

Just watched the first episode last night. I'm not totally sold on Bella Ramsey as Ellie - she doesn't look the part and her American accent is a bit warbly, but she's got Ellie's snarkiness down pat and seems to already have good chemistry with Pedro Pascal. I'm also curious to how the story changes they've made end up playing out since it changes certain character motivations, but we shall see. Beyond that I thought it was great - the score was wonderful, the brief bits with the infected that we got were legitimately creepy, and the show overall did a really good job capturing the vibe of the game. Pascal, Nico Parker, Anna Torv and Merle Dandridge were all great, with Parker in particular doing a wonderful job of giving a thin character like Sarah some depth and likability. Looking forward to the rest of the season.

I haven't played the games but watched the first episode. I enjoyed it, some of it felt very much like game cutscenes brought to life which was interesting. I'm in to see where it goes, I'm a little zombie fatigued, but could see this being good.
