I legitimately hate all of the sitcoms that I'm about to list. I won't ever understand their appeal or popularity.Becker

In fairness, he has added a bit of discussion to his post so he's not a total arse wipe.

I get it with MASH. I watched that show while I waited for something else to come on (I wanna say Mama's Family). I was young, there weren't that many channels, so you watched a thing while you waited to watch a thing. At any rate, MASH looked like a movie but had a laugh track like a sitcom, which was off-putting. And then for a sitcom, every other episode was a complete depress-a-thon. To the point where just listening to the opening theme tune made me sad. Which, yeah, that tune was sad as hell.

It was not only still airing new episodes but some channel showed the old ones for an hour each day. So I saw it every night while eating dinner then one night a week a bit later. Then years later I have just moved to Virginia. Just got rabbit ears and a vcr on my tv. Some channel I got aired MASH from 6pm till 7pm and then 10pm till 11pm each weeknight and I started watching it again. It has become one of my favorite shows. But yea it is a sitcom that has almost nothing for a younger audience.

Well...Becker wasn't that bad. Which makes it weird on a list of beloved sitcoms he hates that’d be the very first he names. It’s just random. He listed them alphabetically.

Yeah, MASH walked a fine line because while they couldn't come out and be completely serious and take big stands on some military issues, they still wanted to show that war f***ing sucks since there were a lot of people working on that show that served. It was "There's funny things that will happen, but at the end of the day this shit is depressing. Nobody is coming home from war the same, if they're even coming home at all."

But did Jim Ross get embarrassed in any 21st century sitcoms? Was Eugene on any?

I watched an episode of Two and a Half Men once (don't ask why) and it was painful, so I'm gonna say that.

I watched MASH as a kid, and there was a bunch of Marx Brothers-esque chaotic humor interspersed in with the deeper stories that kept my interest, and eventually I picked up on the heavier stuff. Hell, I'm still watching it on MeTV and I'm still noticing crap I glossed a thousand times before.

The best sitcoms are based on characters. The worst are based on incredibly limited premises that can't be sustained.

It isn’t the worst show. I’m sure it’s not even close. The premise isn’t insulting. And everyone involved would at least clear the threshold of being competent at their job. But I still thin Two and a Half Men is painfully unfunny. I swear, every time I see my dad, he’s watching a rerun. Which is my only exposure to it. It’s just sex joke after sex joke after see joke. And not one of them funny. But my dad loves it. And I don’t have the heart to tell him it sucks.

Charlie Sheen works in certain sorts of roles, but I don't think a sitcom is one of them. It's sort of like how, for Big Bang Theory, there's a strong cast who I absolutely get why they got a bunch of Emmys, but the writing does absolutely nothing for me and I can't stand the show.

I still DVR it off MeTV but been months since I watched it. For years at work it was an hour of Mash then an hour of Sanford and Son then an hour of Roseanne. Back when TVland and Nick at Nite showed stuff made pre 1990.

MASH, Married with Children, and Roseanna will always be the only sitcoms I could really stick with.
As for the absolute worst? I mean, we have to sit through a few minutes worth of it every week if we want to watch Dynamite as it starts.... Lord Big Bang Theory is the absolute pits. So many unfunny jokes and the ultimate hurt was when my mother watched it and kept comparing that group with my group of friends.
"Oh they're just like you and your friends!"
I don't know if I should have taken that as an insult or not...

Complete with Charlotte Flair attacking her with a chair after being cheered by a live audience.
