Seems like a net win for all parties. Wight gets to explore some other avenues at his own pace, AEW gets a veteran with a wealth of knowledge to give and WWE... I guess it’s more for us fans that there’s one less legend taking up space.

Wow.
His WWE-produced Netflix show getting axed was the Big Show's last straw, I guess....?
Also, and I'm reading into this way too much, last night on Twitter someone asked him if he considered himself WCW or nWo: he answered "WCW." Hours later, he's alongside Sting. heh.

Got to love it. AEW is slowly turning into WWE lite. One of the things most people got excited about AEW was their use of indy and maybe not as well known talents, who were making noise around the world....everyone was going to be paid the same as well LOL. A good portion of their "top talent" is now former WWE guys. Cant wait till the next PPV when their matches include such top young talent such as a 50 year old Big show, a 60 year old STING, a 50 year old Chris Jericho, 35 year old Moxley, 37 year old Omega, 43 year old Archer..and lets not forget a 40 some year old out of shape basketball player who is probably getting paid more for 1 appearance than some of the lower dudes have all year
Also...what happened to all talents being paid the same?
I will miss the old AEW

But here is the big question. How will anybody be able to eliminate Paul Wight in the Casino Battle Royal?

AEW can finally put a big show! Good for him, getting paid millions to do nothing is worse than getting paid lesser to do what he likes. He was in ridiculously good shape during the rumored Shaq match at mania. If he is still in shape, it's a great signing for them since he's one of most recognisable names in wrestling. Hope they don't waste him with Cody or something I assure you its the other way....AEW probably came with a big money contract. he was a wwe guy for lifes. all the stuff hes been thru as far as storylines, yet he always stayed, im sure wwe paid him well, but I would bet any dollar amount I will ever own, Khan saw he was available and offered him a big money contract.

If he's coming in mainly as a commentator, that's great. Years ago when he was full time, he'd done some stints as the 'feuding with one of the guys in the ring' commentary guest, and he was really f***ing good at it. I remember it getting a fair lot of love on the WWE board then, but it seemed like something that'd never take full time under Vince. If his in-ring stuff is limited, this could be a really good pickup to help SHow run out his career in a useful way instead of as a broken down part timer shambling off into the sunset.

This would be quite an interesting matchup Schiavone: MJF HAS BEEN CHOKE SLAMMED THROUGH THE RAMP! THIS IS THE GREATEST NIGHT IN THE HISTORY OF OUR SPORT!

WWE should have promoted it more because he's playing himself and literally half the show is him doing things after being in WWE. They get name dropped a ton and they've had Foley, Rikishi, and Mark Henry on an episode. Seems like a no-brainer. Yeah, it felt especially weirder with how big a deal they made the Netflix deal out to be and then...practically nothing. Like, even if the excuse was "Well, NBC wouldn't like it" like The Mandalorian might be...they produced it. It's literally a WWE Studios production. Honestly, as starved for attention as Vince seems to be sometimes, it's remarkable just how often he drops the ball when his own talent makes waves in the mainstream.

I don't get it. Most of their signings I'm completely on board with, or can at least rationalize. But what would the show lose without Wight or Luther? Nothing IMO.

Legit surprised by this one. Show was with WWE for 21 years!
I guess he really wants that Shaq match. Heh.

Odds on how many face abs heel turns he makes in AEW? I mean his weight fluctuates like a mother, so, the abs will come and go.

It’s not even that because, by all accounts, Big Show Show wasn’t very good and wasn’t exactly popular but...why would you go about having your new recruit make a deal with Netflix, the marquee streaming service in the world. to do a couple of productions (three if you count this potential Hogan movie) and then not promote practically any of them on your actual show? Like, why spend all that money?

Everyone knew Moxley/Sting/Brodie and others were probably coming, it was just a matter of when. This though is a complete shock all around.
Imagine how much more shocking if he'd just walked out on Dynamite tonight? I don't think putting this online a few hours before the show is going to do much for ratings so I'd probably have just kept it quiet until the show for maximum wtfery.
He's finished in the ring but he has the makings of being a really good announcer judging by his appearances doing guest commentary over the years.
