But they won't be sacrificing those guys for the sake of Show. He's coming in as a commentator. Of course He's gonna wrestle, but I see no way that he's gonna be full time. Even if he is, it'll be more of a Billy Gunn spot than a Moxley spot. And you know for a fact that this is how he will be booked? Are you one of AEW's eight thousand VP's? I mean, weβre not seeing Kenny Omega vs. Billy Gunn headlining Revolution for one...

It's attention grabbing, and I'm sure he'll be valuable as a mentor for the younger talent, but the amount of talent they already have to showcase makes him feel superfluous as an onscreen talent. Dark had like, 40 people featured last night and a ton of multi-person matches featuring some future stars. Sacrificing their screen time for the sake of a guy who's well past his prime and honestly was never that great in the first place feels like a mistake. See, this is where I have some level of disagreement with people's opinion of Big Show's career. The only reason that his career was "never that great in the first place" is because WWE managed to take a guy who was 7'1 and 350 pounds, and freakishly mobile and athletic for that size, and turn him into just another guy. If Big Show had debuted in 1985 instead of 1995, he very likely would have been one of the biggest stars in the entire history of wrestling. Attitude Era CrashTV killed his mystique. So, I see where you're coming from. He spent a long, long time just spinning his wheels, turning so frequently that I think being a "tweener" simply by virtue of the fact that no one can keep up with what you are should be called the "Big Show Push" in the same way that "X-Pac Heat" and "Conway Pop" are commonly accepted terms, and ended up being the "Local Man" who ruined the appeal of every feud he got shoehorned into for the last decade. But, like, he's still probably the best in-ring "giant" in the history of wrestling, and he's charismatic and good on the mic to boot. He has a lot to offer, yet, and I think that moving the AEW may be just the thing he needs to rejuvenate himself in the twilight of his career. AEW has done an admirable job not letting the old guys overshadow the young talent. If Big Show can help the development of guys like Wardlow, Comoroto, Bear Country, M'Badu, Powerhouse Hobbs, etc...then I think his presence on the roster is a net positive, even if he ends up taking some TV time in the short term.

If he's doing commentary for a developmental show, he's not taking up screen time that they could have...he's lending his name to their screen time. I'm skeptical that that moves the needle for the new show whatsoever. I'm also treating it as inevitable that they'll throw him in the ring. But at the least, the promotion seems geared toward, "try out this Youtube show to hear the Big Show on commentary, hopefully stay for the young wrestlers that you haven't heard of yet."

Just when I happened to open WWE board's huge Big Show thread, I read these news. LMAO.

Show can talk, he's witty, but I find his voice pretty grating. Him doing commentary would do nothing at all for me. I enjoyed his final run where he put over Strowman. I'd think there're quite some things you could do with him as an on screen and even in ring talent. However, him just putting over guys would net diminishing returns quickly. A guy that massive always needs to be protected to a certain extend, especially as a face. He'd also make very obvious how big men like Wardlow aren't actually big men, but Batista like hosses. Long story short: I am interested in seeing him, I just don't know in which capacity. Still a very cool signing!

Keep him face, let him be funny and he'll do fine in AEW.

AEW has absolutely garnered faith in the fans that it knows how to book legends properly. However, to assume that we know how he will be booked before we actually see it is ridiculous.

Given where the name The Big Show came from, they should name him Ultra Sizeable Arrangement. He should get a nod to his first WWF nickname, The Big Nasty Bastard. How about That Huge Motherf***er?

Got to love it. AEW is slowly turning into WWE lite. One of the things most people got excited about AEW was their use of indy and maybe not as well known talents, who were making noise around the world....everyone was going to be paid the same as well LOL. A good portion of their "top talent" is now former WWE guys. Cant wait till the next PPV when their matches include such top young talent such as a 50 year old Big show, a 60 year old STING, a 50 year old Chris Jericho, 35 year old Moxley, 37 year old Omega, 43 year old Archer..and lets not forget a 40 some year old out of shape basketball player who is probably getting paid more for 1 appearance than some of the lower dudes have all year Also...what happened to all talents being paid the same? I will miss the old AEW So what I'm getting from your deranged whining about a 35 year old man being too old for TV, your preferred main event scene consists of Brodie Lee Jr, Marko Stunt, and if they can poach him, Dominick Mysterio?

Two dudes in their mid thirties who would be top stars in literally any promotion they're in, as evidenced by both of them being top stars in the promotion they came from.

Hey, man, Shaq is almost 50! If you're going to make the argument that he's too old to be on TV, at least do it right! Also, there's about a 0% chance that AEW is even paying him. He's there because: 1) he wants to do it; and 2) TNT wants him to do it, and is paying him for it. Shaq is a TNT employee, and he's helping out a TNT property. I know we're all bent out of shape about it, but he's not even wrestling on the PPV. He is strictly there to bring eyes to Dynamite.

And if he winds up in a title program, I will happily eat my words. I just have faith in Khan, the company, and Show himself.

The World Health Organization defines Ageism as the stereotyping and discrimination against individuals or groups on the basis of their age. Ageism can take many forms, including prejudicial attitudes, discriminatory practices, or institutional policies and practices that perpetuate stereotypical beliefs.
Older people deserve to be allowed to work without bigots saying they're too old for what they do. You want to critique someone's spot, fine, but saying no one over a certain age should be working or deserves their spot is discrimination. I'm not answering the person who posted it, but I think people should generally understand aging is difficult and many times in our society it's harder to find work and establish ourselves in our chosen businesses.
