Yeah like the Cesaro swing in itself COULD be that thing. Have Seth get in his ear about how he absolutely can't let Cesaro hit him with the swing, and he brushes it off because Seth is just a weirdly dressed man now and it would never happen to him. In the match, Roman gets outwrestled, outplayed Shinsuke takes out Jey backstage or something, and on top of it Roman gets the swing, getting humiliated the same way Seth did. He can survive it with his cunning and dickheaditude, but then the egg is on his face and he could have that veneer crack again for the first time in a looong time. (Man remember how great it was early on in the Jey feud when Roman kept completely snapping and showing signs he had gone completely insane) It's nice to have dreams, past Chiral. Cesaro didn't even try for the damn swing. Between that and how they were having Reigns overpower him head on even before the arm injury it was like they were afraid of letting him get any of his shit in or something, it was so weird.

Roman's title reign and booking has officially crossed into HHH territory. I am almost expecting him to come out and talk for two hours about how amazing he is because he's just f***ing beaten every face worth a damn on the roster at this point.
I dont mind Roman being a strong dominating heel that can run through competition. I have an issue where it feels like he either has no weaknesses or when he does he just cheats to win and keeps the title anyway and they just keep rinsing and repeating.
What made tonight all the worse is they couldn't just BEAT Cesaro they had to outright cripple him. Roman overpowering him repeatedly, Cesaro using none of his big moves ago all, and then the cherry on the shit sundae, after a clean loss, Seth couldn't turn face nooooo he had to KILL CESARO SOME MORE and that's how you end the show. Literal misery booking at its finest.
Smackdown's an outright joyless husk right now, and has been for months. And if Roman's holding this belt till next years Mania I can't imagine how much worse it's going to get, because the last few weeks alone have been damn near unwatchable. Just a heel killing people, ending Smackdown careers, not even selling long matches like tonight and treating Cesaro like a pushover. Shit ain't entertaining, it's just exhausting.

Great match tonight but the commentators talking up Cesaro's fighting spirit while he lays there completely useless as Roman slowly finishes him off and then post-match acts like it took no effort at all really shows the problem with this title reign. But the whole character is him being untouchable and no selling stuff like this. Jesus the commentators were putting Cesaro over like Jesus Buddha by the end.

That doesn't really matter when in the end Cesaro looks like he's going to feud with Seth again, potentially lose, and Roman has literally run through everyone with almost zero consequence at all It's cool to be a tough badass who can take a lot of punishment. When it's been months of the dude doing the same thing and he's still just mowing through dudes, you get tired of it. You're waiting for some kind of breakthrough or difference to the formula and it's just the same shit, and there seems to be zero end in sight. It's not entertaining, it's just annoying.

This honestly felt like the most egregious example yet of Roman eating somebody up and spitting them up, tbh. Roman controlled the pace of the whole match, didn't even feel threatened enough to bring out the thing he relies on in literally every defense, and STILL won handily so obviously, he was right. He really did have nothing to fear, Cesaro got handled like a f***ing lunch pail.

And it's a shitty character that makes for bad television when it's going for at this point nine months without anyone being able to meaningfully put any kind of dent in it. They were putting Cesaro over huge and talking about how he might pull this off, sure, but that doesn't really mean anything when he ultimately was completely helpless while Roman finished him off at his leisure.

That was their intention but it could have been done better. To me it sounded like when Ambrose got beaten by Lesnar. Ambrose came out on SD a few days later and they said some stuff about him pushing Lesnar to the limit and almost winning, Ambrose took more suplexes than anyone's taken from Lesnar, Ambrose didn't even "technically" do his finisher and he still lost. In retrospect it looked like yeah, Ambrose was that dude. It isn't Cesaro or Ambrose's fault either. If you take away from what the announcers said it looks better but they don't need to say that. But whenever announcers say stuff like that it's like when a bully beats a kid up on the playground and then after the fight the kid's friends help him up and say "you almost had him." Like, nobody remembers the fight, they just remember homie getting pulled off the teether ball pole he was holding onto after the fight lol.

The more they drag this out like this too the less I'm even gonna care when Reigns finally drops the belt. Why get invested if they tell you over and over again that the good guys are f***in losers compared to Roman? That's what was so engaging about the early part of the title run, he was so fallible and clearly broken. Like he was having the breakdowns and crying and "I don't know who I am anymore" stuff. At some point it just turned into "actually he's a badass and that's about it now." He talked to himself for a second in the match but it was barely on screen and he wasn't particularly challenged or anything. Like I'm posting 80000000 times about this so I care on that level but it's getting to that like Jinder title run level where it's like 'THIS is what you're going with for THIS long?'

People might say they'll care less and/or they won't care at all but I guarantee yall that whenever he loses the belt, whatever match it is, whatever opponent, people are gonna be so into the match, hype and anxious that he might lose that it'll affect them. That's just how it is with people and this company. It never fails.

Unless it's to Lesnar, in which case this whole run is suddenly going to look a lot more appealing to them.

People will also soften to this reign over time. It’s a heel run where he’s beating fan favorites to set somebody up like Big E to win the belt. Its designed to get you mad. It’s going to be fine and we are getting stupid good matches out of it. I wasn’t crazy about the double pin but the reign overall is fine.

Honestly I think this is the last of Roman's title matches I'm even going to bother watching. I only watched this one because my four month Peacock subscription is still for the moment active and I had some small glimmer of hope Cesaro might win but, like... At this point the options to beat Roman are basically Brock, Rock, or Big E and I don't want to see any of those people anywhere near the title anyway. And really while Big E is kind of the best of those in terms of not falling into usual WWE bullshit, it's also the worst of them because I can't remotely buy it. After everything else Roman's shrugged off him losing to being gingerly set down on Big E's shoulder just sounds f***ing laughable.

I'm assuming people will be content with Roman's eventual defeat coming like a Goldberg squash (hopefully not involving 'ol Goldy himself) than a competitive match? Like, this dominant uber-heel just being embarrassed and humiliated after losing abruptly (kinda like what WWE intended with Sheamus squashing Daniel Bryan at WM28).

"Looking good in defeat" doesn't f***ing matter if it doesn't lead anywhere. Kevin Owens was shown that he could have beaten Roman if not for the constant interference... but he lost literally every time which makes him look awful.

The moment it's announced that we're getting Reigns/Lesnar all of a sudden this Roman reign is gonna look like Bryan as the Planet's Champion lol. There's disappointing reigns and there's earth scorchingly bad ones. This ain't an Earth scorchingly bad one. Like if this was Lesnar Cesaro's ass woulda been pinned in 4 mins lol.

Honestly right now I'd rather the belt be on Lesnar. At least he only makes people look awful three or four times a year instead of doing it show after show after show like Roman's spent the past nine months doing.

Tbh, I only watched part of this ppv with my Peacock subscription. I saw the Rhea/Charlotte/Asuka match, part of the Zombie match, part of the Lashley one and then this Reigns/Cesaro match. I've just hit a point where watching these regular ppvs isn't really as compelling as it used to be. Hell, the only reason I saw this ppv is because I forgot to cancel my Peacock subscription. They got me. Big E is the only one I wanna see beat Reigns. I don't care about Lesnar, Rock well they'd do better in a non-title family feud rather than having a belt and Big E, he'll be a great face champion.

The issue with Romans whole character now is now really coming into light because the redundency is becoming obvious.....this was great when his reign was still in its early phase but the KO feud really exposed it and the longer this goes on the more damage it does.
It is just a cycle of the samethings....he either wins with Uce interference or he just bowls through another babyface challenger cleanly and moves on rinse and repeat...and it is not only damaging to SD as a whole but all the effort they have put in to try and rehab Roman to get the fans to buy into this cool tribal chief and maybe finally set him up to be this beloved babyface they couldn't get the last time....but they are squandering that now.
