Seeing Mickie was a nice surprise. I know she was backstage, but I didn’t expect to see her already. Maybe it was a make good on WWE’s part, since of the crappy way she was let go from the company. But that might also be way she’s referred to as a producer at the moment. But adding Mickie and Kylie Rae is a hell of a way to start building to a all woman’s ppv.
The rest of the show was just random.
Joe Gally having a breakdown talking to strictly business.
Seriously for being such a Flair mark, they didn’t put the tag titles on Masters and Bram? They could have ended last nights ppv with all the gold.
Also why the hell is Masters in the tournament if he just gave up the title. I hope Parrow destroys them both.
Specking of which, The End are becoming one of my favorite teams, I wish the match with the AAA guys had a clean ending it just feels like half the tag matches in NWA end in some kind of nonsense.
Who’s the mask guy? Wes Brisco?
Awesome Lady Frost! She is popping up everywhere. Ohhh she got rolled up and lost... oh okay?
Pope is only two tv title defenses away from getting a shot at Aldis. Remember that.
Ending the show with Kamille getting flowers by Aldis dancing around like a school child to be called out by Melina and teasing a partnership with Jennacide was a choice.
Oh... also Tyrus being a decent talker and having a second manager?

Either the NWA doesn't count or Mickie got out of her 90 day non compete. I was thinking that. It close to 60 days. They should count since they are being broadcasted. Maybe she doesn't have it in her contract like Andrade didn't either.

Billy Corgan is awesome. Just awesome. He loves wrestling. He helped save Impact, and he bought the rights to his own fed, and now is presenting this PPV. He has helped out this industry so much.

I figured Mickie would go here. Good for her and I hope she kills it!
I'm very curious about the All Women PPV though. Like there's gotta be some outside names coming in for this. Deeb I assume would be booked? Maybe other AEW girls or Impact girls? Doing what ROH is?
At least companies are starting to really treat Women's wrestling and the talent with importance

I've been posting Power reviews on another forum but no one there actually watches the show! I will preface this week's by saying that I didn't watch the PPV...
POWER begins with Billy Corgan giving Mickie James the greenlight to do her best Maria Kanellis doing her best Brandi Rhodes doing her best Stephanie McMahon impression. NWA are going to be doing a double PPV in St Louis in August - Saturday is an all women's show, and then NWA 73 is on Sunday. Mickie indicates that she wants the best of the best on that show she's executive producing - sounds like more AEW/NWA women's division crossovers?
INTO THE FIRE
Speaking of women, Joe Galli at a fancy new interview desk introduces the new Women's Champion Kamille. She isn't taking it easy now she's champion, in fact she's asked to be in the main event tonight. Joe wants to know the match but first Kamille wants to bring out the man that's stood by her through thick and thin former domestic abuser Thom Latimer. Thom and Kamille share a kiss before Latimer brings out Aldis and Adonis. Aldis and Galli get into it until Tim Storm comes in to diffuse the tensions. Cutting a segment that went on way too long short for my readers - there's going to be a tournament for the vacant National championship and "Kamille's Coronation" in the main event segment.
May Valentine is backstage with the former women's champion Serena Deeb. She's disappointed to have lost the Burke but is proud of how she represented as champion - and May signs off by seemingly indicating that Serena won't be going anywhere so that's nice.
Let's get to the ring! Thankfully we've got some new wrestlers! Luke Hawx (apparently 1/2 of a tag team with his son) is for some reason getting a TV title shot against Pope. As far as I am aware this is Luke didn't debut at the PPV so I am a bit confused why he's walked into a title match but good for him. He has some nice looking tights so maybe that was enough. Luke dominates the first five minutes of the match but Pope turns it around with a DDT (which Luke sells by spitting a huge loogie in the air irking the COVID germaphobe in me) and follows it up with his double knees finisher to record his fifth title defence. Only two away from the lucky seven!
May and Kyle are doing a quick promo for the NWA merch store when they're interrupted by a masked man - more new wrestlers! Kyle wants to know who is he - but the masked man says that his handshake agreement with Billy means that WPC is the only one who knows. Technically he's correct because although he looked kinda familiar I'm not sure who he is, and no one covers the NWA so I can't look it up. MYSTERY MAN indeed - but one thing is for sure, he's not charismatic.
Women's wrestling time! It's another debut(!) as Lady Frost (looking like a legit Marvel superhero) is set to wrestle Taryn Terrell. Taryn bails early on to get on the mic and say she's not really in the mood to wrestle. Frosty isn't impressed and goes to leave but that was Taryn's plan all along and she schoolgirls her up from behind for the win. Lame! I wanted to see Frost wrestle.
Austin Idol is still doing his very best to try and make the audience remotely tolerate Tyrus, bless his heart. Austin must have taken his meds because he's actually on point tonight. Eventually they're interrupted by another new dude BLK Jeez who is good on the mic! He wants five minutes of their time to discuss business, but Tyrus and Austin aren't interested.
May is backstage again commiserating with Trever Murdoch. Trev is starting to doubt whether it is really in the cards for him to be the world champion. That's the only thing he wants but now he has to go home to his son and tell him that he wasn't able to deliver. Nawww. Not sure this is the direction I would have gone after the PPV - he should be pissed off not crying!
Time to spray your mouth with silver paint because it's theend vs the new tag team of La Rebelion. Looking forward to seeing these guys. The End seem to have been turned heel and Parrow dominates with his power until MechaWolf is finally able to get the hot tag to Bestia. The match breaks down with all four dudes in the ring and eventually the ref has had enough and throws the match out. The End eventually finish the fight with their double powerbomb collision finisher. Parrow jawjacks with the announcers on his way out, and that gives La Rebelion enough time to recover and continue the brawl! They end up fighting all the way through the curtain.
Nick Aldis, two bouquets of flowers, and Kamille are out for the coronation of her championship reign. Before anything can really happen though, Melina comes out, hurling her shoes into the crowd and she immediately gets in Kamille's face. Melina says she's got unfinished business with Kamille and gets in her face, but Jennacide appears and acts as her security and ejects Melina before representing the flowers to Kamille. That's it? OK!
I noticed the list of producers in the credits now includes the one and only JAZZ!

NWA posted their 30-minute preshow for Shadows Fall on youtube. There is proper ppv hype plus a handful of preshow matches including one with my girl Jennacide.

You know what? You can say a lot of negative stuff about the NWA now but I'm going to give them props for doing an all-women PPV. Mickie got told that women's wrestling doesn't draw so she rejected the 90 days and is going to put her money where her mouth is with the NWA's help (and possibly talent from other places potentially) and honestly, I respect that a lot.

Yeah, if nothing else, they've been doing pretty well by their women so far.
As for Mickie and any kind of no compete, I know people have been all over the place on those. I think some people have had as few as 30 day ones or no clauses at all. It definitely hasn't been the same across the board.

The booking has left a lot to be desired since the revival which idk how much that rests on Lagana being booted but I really hope what they start doing is they start getting a nice core crew for booking and presentation like AEW has. It looked like they started to build that with the PPV seeing the credits. NWA needs something like that to remain consistent while also rebuilding this roster and making the show feel must-see. The All-Woman PPV is a great way to start with that

NWA also needs to start putting more stuff on Youtube
I know Powerrr is on FITE but like do a showcase match or two. Youtube is the easiest way to keep people in the loop on what you're doing.

They need to take more lessons from AEW. Produce more content for youtube. I eman hell AEW puts two one hour or longer shows of matches. You cant tell me they could filmed more matches for there channel.

A number of things happened with NWA for me, some involving the backstage shit and some involving the product itself, that meant I stopped watching it.
However, an all-female PPV produced by Mickie is exactly the kind of thing they should be doing. I might have to buy that one on spec alone, but I'm also very curious who will be working it.

Especially when you have to pay 5 dollars a month to see the matches. Not too many people are going to pay that unless they're hardcore fans. Get people excited and talking about the shows on YouTube and they'll pay for Powerrr.

It's NWA POWER HOUR BABY. Tim Storm looks incredibly red sitting between Velvet and Joe on commentary - is he feeling ok?! And did we ever find out what he was doing on assignment?
Trevor Murdoch is out to chat with Kyle. He's angry (I thought he was depressed?) but his wife told him that he had Aldis beat and that's changed his whole perspective. If Nick thinks this is done, he's wrong because it's just getting started. Murdoch isn't done until he becomes world heavyweight champion.
Tyrus and Austin are backstage with May and speaking of extreme skin colour - Idol is the same pink hue as Valentine's blazer. Jordan Clearwater interrupts on behalf of Mr. Jeez and invites them to the conference room. Tyrus doesn't take kindly to this and while choking Clearwater says that instead he'll meet them both in the ring next week.
Our opening match is a women's triple threat between Kenzie Paige, Jennacide and Melina. Jennacide spends most of the match trying to take them both on, but when she is thrown through the ropes Melina takes advantage and rolls Kenzie up for a sneaky victory. No mention of Melina and Jennacide's interaction from Kamille's coronation, and the second week in a row with a Diva era-esque one minute women's match that ended with a rollup.
PJ Hawx and Sal Rinauro are at the interview podium ahead of their #1 contenders match to the TV title. If you called Sal as the person who lists the legendary names of the NWA in their promo this week - well done. PJ talks about how his dad has been preparing him for opportunities like this his whole career, but he's soon interrupted by Colby Corino who has taken offence at PJ calling himself a second generation wrestler when his family "hasn't even done anything in this business". Eww hunty the shade! Rinauro isn't escaping Colby's zingers either - he's furious that a dumb and ugly goof is anywhere near a championship. PJ's not happy and invites Corino into the match - he's happy to make it a triple threat if it can be sanctioned. This was a good segment! After the break PJ Hawx is now in the ring set for a match against...Aron Stevens? Apparently Stevens was impressed with PJ standing up for himself and wanted to have a match with him. They wrestle a decent little technical match for a few minutes until La Rebelion randomly attack both competitors. Luke Hawx runs out from the back to defend his son but he is quickly laid out by their nasty looking powerbomb/codebreaker finisher that is apparently called the Mark of the Beast. They grab the mic and inform everyone that like the villains on a season of the Bachelor - they haven't come here to make friends.
May is backstage with the mysterious masked man and she's curious when he will step into the ring - but is quickly interrupted by Slice Boogie (and Marshe Rockett) who proceeds to read his promo off a teleprompter off screen. Move your eyes around a little bit to make it less obvious bro!
Our main event this week is the first National Championship tournament three way between JTG, Fred Rosser and El Rudo. Rudo attempts to make a team with both JTG and Rosser but they end up double teaming him instead. Their alliance lasts barely a second though, and they proceed to hilariously botch a missed dropkick spot. Rudo seems like a fun addition to the roster, he's got some charisma and does a nice tightrope walk into a double blockbuster. Eventually he takes the loss though when JTG hits him with the Brooklyn Edge (a sweet Razor's Edge setup into a neckbreaker!) and he'll face the winner of next week's Latimer/Adonis/Parrow match for the National title.

I think some people have had as few as 30 day ones or no clauses at all. It definitely hasn't been the same across the board. During the 90-day no-compete, outside bookings can be taken if WWE green lights it. The fact that the NWA isn't on traditional TV like AEW, Ring of Honor, or Impact might have something to do with it.
