So the first episode of this dropped today on Disney+ and, while it got kinda lost in the shuffle, I feel is as deserving a thread as any silly old comic book show or movie.
So I thought it was pretty good. Paint by numbers story, but not nearly as cringy as I was expecting. I could honestly really do without the sub-plot of the Mom being obviously unhappy at her job. But Emilio Estevez did a great job of coming off as someone obviously disillusioned with hockey, but not reaching unreasonable jerkhole levels about it. I can see potential.
Also, how did a DC comic wind up in a Disney-made project?

I’m curious if we see the other Ducks players aside from Emilio. I wonder how they feel about how their team turned out here.

In the final episode I want them to reveal that the modern version of the Ducks are sponsored by Karp, who specifically instructs the Coach to run it in a way to ruin the teams good name because he's pissed the original team dropped him right before the Junior Goodwill Games.

An article said most of them will show up, though Charlie won't be in it since his actor had a scheduling conflict. I'm also not holding my breath for Goldberg, given his recent drug issues. I was kind of hoping for one of the original Hawks to be a coach, as a sort of Johnny Lawrence-like redemption story. Unfortunately Lane Smith has been dead for several years, so aside from maybe some brief mentions, we won't find out what happened to Coach Riley.

Only if Old Karp is played by an actual NHLer (Patrick Kane?).

There’s a picture out there with Emilio and the returning Ducks. It’s a group from all three movies.

It's standard "underdogs underestimated by everyone" fare, but I like hockey stories, so I think I can enjoy this.
Also, “Game Changers” is kind of a bad subtitle for the show, because it makes it sound like it’ll be a documentary about the OG Ducks, when it most certainly is not.

Yeah he didn't return from Camp Hope although Goldberg and Russ did. I guess that was his calling. He was the captain there.

In the 1990s and early 2000s, it was typical to divide characters into specific traits based on the one thing they were probably known for, but I don't think it makes much sense to be writing that way for a TV show today.
Also, the one kid identified in promos as "The Gamer" reminded me too much as Barood from Ring Ka King.

Only if Old Karp is played by an actual NHLer (Patrick Kane?). The thing about this is that Aaron Schwartz doesn't even look like how he used to look. Okay, you can take a close look at him and you can kind of tell that it's him, but he doesn't look like how he did in the first film or in Heavyweights

Well I really enjoyed that. Bombay working in a rink really hits home. That’s what I do. In general, you don’t leave the broken Zamboni on the ice and you wouldn’t take the time to put lines in if you had a strict no hockey policy...but eating leftover cake....that’s pretty accurate.

Considering he already seems perfectly fine with everything, I think it’s mainly to get the call back line in.

What happened to Bombay working with the Goodwill Games? Yeah, I know the last one was in 2001, but you'd think that his involvement would open doors for him somewhere else.

I’d assume someone with his accomplishments with the Ducks and the US Goodwill Games team would at least net him a NHL executive position or something.

At the very least he’d be a respected AHL or CHL coach, maybe even own a Canadian Junior team and do the Kelly McCrimmon Owner/GM/Head Coach deal

Yeah I don't get why Gordon is in the state he is in now. How is he not either a top executive in the Ducks brand/organization or at the very least a practicing lawyer? "Hate hockey and kids" doesn't really make sense.
