One lovely detail about the Sexy Star cinematic is that she's tied up like a cocoon.
The ending cinematic is just absolutely fire. I don't truck they every topped that tbh. There are brilliant ones still to come though.
Am I the only person who really enjoyed Chavo in Season 1? Yeah Blue Demon sucks and Sexy Star is a good character played by a terrible wrestler but I liked him. The end of Episode 2 made me gasp.

Yea Big Ryck retired from wrestling shortly after (I believe he is a personal trainer now last I heard) but the reason he never returns to LU is because of the liberty he took with sexy star on that reckless as f*** chokeslam and got fired for it.
So more BTS for all you lovely believer peoplez.
In the Drago and Hernandez match they has to reshoot the ending because Drago f***ed up , he got on the wrong turnbuckle and so he had to jump down and run across the ring.
MGM's legal team was not happy at Ultima Lucha - Hernandez getting hit in the nuts , Angelicos Dive(because he was diving over the believers , the near decapitation of the audience member with the little girl.....basically LU was like we doin whatever we want and yea lol but it results in a change about something in the future but not mentioning it now though but will when we come across it.
I have to make a correction on something....Hernandez did not infact get hit in the face but the reason there is there just red mark across his head/face is because his bandanna was soaking wet and that is what left the mark on his face. He did still get hit in the nutz though incase there was any doubt about the important part lol.
In the the trios match..there is a moment where Ive chokes Barrio Nego with a crutch and it is not Ive's initial crutch but from a member of the audience sitting behind striker...this crutch was also used in the Mack Vs Cage match so just know that is not a prop or gimmicked crutch being used but a legit one. Amd after Mack finished using it he passed back to Rick Nox who then gave it back.
When Cage suplexs Mack ontop of the office that is a legit deadlift by Cage as Mack gave him nothing on that one.
If you go back and watch the stunner spot with Mack...he ends up spitting beer all over Rick Noxs crotch lol.
Will I have more for you guys later on...maaaayyybbeeee yea I will because I likes the lotz of ya.

Damn I kind of feel bad for Ryck for getting sacked for that. He probably just got caught up in the moment and it's not like Sexy isn't some who wouldn't take liberties either....
Yeah the glass spots were stupidly dangerous. Heck of a match though.
Puma vs Mill is incredible. Ricochet is completely wasted by the WWE, he's an absolute megastar in waiting.

 I absoloutley adore this shot , not just because it is f***ing iconic and cool looking but I love the significance of Mil is the one kneeling with Catrina standing above him in the dominant role. |

Great shot indeed. I think Catrina is the second greatest character in LU after Dario himself. Kaylee was absolutely fantastic in that role.
If only they had taken better care in casting some of the other roles really. Angela Fong seems pleasent enough but I wish they had cast a better worker in that role (Mia Yim or Su Yung perhaps?) and Sexy Star outside of working with Pentagon is kind of garbage.

It is from a recap episode with the guys who have been the direct source for legit LU news since pretty much the shows inception and are the ones LuchaBlog gets any LU related news from and it is where I get all my BTS info from also. Count me in as another one who hadn't heard Ryck got fired outright over that botch. I know there were comments going around as soon as it happened that Sexy Star was legit injured off his move, but at least at the time folks were evidently being diplomatic about talking about the fallout.
Gecko: Glad you had as much fun watching as we did! It's been a great trip down memory lane getting to relive these shows via this thread.

This was something I contemplated not mentioning but I figure what the hell.....that chokeslam Sexy Star took from Big Ryck in the GOTG match was him taking severe liberties with her and he gets fired for it...so there is no Big Ryck going forward. Now that I think about it and what was initially set up for after Ultima Lucha, was there a reason why Daivari didn't come back either, other than that they didn't have anything for him with Ryck out of the picture? Not really much of a loss since he wasn't exactly a popular character, but it's made me curious. Dude had indicated that he was s'posed to be back, but never showed. Am I the only person who really enjoyed Chavo in Season 1? Yeah Blue Demon sucks and Sexy Star is a good character played by a terrible wrestler but I liked him. The end of Episode 2 made me gasp. Chavo was fun for just about his entire time with LU, and this is coming from someone who couldn't stand him prior. This is your one week (and a bit) alarm. We're going to be starting this up again with Season 2 next weekend. I was going to do it this weekend, but things work out better for me if I put it back by a week.
With that announcement out the way, two things:
A) Anything I should know going into S2? Stuff that may have happened between seasons? Or even just fun little bits of general trivia?
B) Gecko's Season 2 preview: I can't preview it, I have no idea what'll happen, but here's what I expect: More great wrestling, more crazy stuff, more death, Somebody turns out to be a robot, time travel, necromancy, Dario inventing a "completely new" type of match, that f***ing bull, and just some amazing moments.

 As for non spoilery things going into season 2. 1. Alot of the deadweight talent that clogged up s1 is gone and not coming back...I will get into these details when the time comes......although I will give this one for free...you aint gotta worrie about anymore Blue Demon matches. 2.Get ready for a real obvious increase in the budget of the show and like I been saying the production steps it the f*** up...you got a glimmer of how improved the show gets with the end montage at ultima lucha , hell the show as a whole levels up but you really notice it in the production. And how to describe season 2....IN f***ING SANE! will do lol. The wait for season 2 is where all the real backstage drama began over WHETHER LU WAS COMING BACK OR WAS DEAD etc etc with most (including dirt sheetz) having no actual info and talking out their ass about why it took season 2 to get greenlit....and funny thing looking back it aint even the worst wait for a season , oh no no we will get to that one in due time , but yea the wait for s2 is where those issues began. |

Oh and something else I remembered but I had to go look at the date just incase.
It was during this period when s2 was already fully taped or in the middle of production that HHH personally came to approach the execs of LU to get talent for the cruiserweight classic...which resulted in a certain talent being upset because this was during a time and the show runner explained this was when all the higher ups in LU were being very territorial in that LU was prohibiting talent from working any other televised wrestling shows stateside(they were very much allowed to work any other shows contrary to what alot of uninformed people will say)...as this was when WWE started to ramp up scooping up all the talents they possibly could so you understand from that perspective why they did not allow that.
There was also the rumor I do not believe it was ever confirmed but made the rounds that WWE wanted to try and buy out LU and why alot of people assumed HHH personally made the trip to talk to the higher ups in LU.

You don't need to know anything really. It just picks up where the last one left off. Season 2 is mostly incredible, though I do have issues with the finale.

El Rey Network actually released a 4 issue comic book series before season 2 that adds to some of the stories. 1 issue about Dario and his brother, 1 about Vampiro and Penta, 1 about Catrina/Mil/The Disciples, and 1 about someone who will debut this season. |

Though you may be able to get away with reading the Mil/Catrina/Disciples comic pre-Season 2 since that's firmly interval stuff, save the rest for after you start it. You'll prob'ly appreciate those details more when they're accompanied by the show.
I loved the S2 poster prints. I think I've mentioned before that the S2 Mil print was part of that prize pack I won while the show was still running. It's gorgeous. Got it up on my wall.
