Don't blame me for the delay, blame England for not getting knocked out of the Euros yet.
EPISODE 20 – The Art of War Breakin' the Law, Once Again, Prepare for War! (Yep, that's now stuck in my head after reading that other thread title)Here we go, into the second half of the first season. Recaps of: 1) The builds to the two title matches happening tonight (including the Konnan line about war being based on deception. Hmmm). 2) Angelico/Ivelisse/Havoc triangle 3) And back to the Cage/Puma bout, this time focusing on Cage. She didn’t get much screen time, but Amandititititititititititititititititititititititita etc was there. Matt Striker hypes the title matches as Vampiro, looking like he just broke out of prison, is easily distracted by loud noises and bright lights. First ring introductions, and Melissa’s shadows look to be in pretty much the same place as last time. Man, I thought I was being really smart there and caught some subtle thing. I guess I’ll go back to being suspicious about the bull. Angelico vs Son of Havoc w/Ivelisse
This match is going at a quick pace. Why does diving to the outside over the corner seem so much more impressive than doing the same move over the ropes? Striker brings up brings up how your bank account gets bigger the more you win, which I like. Ivelisse is loud. Havoc grabs a mic while he’s perched on the turnbuckle. He blames Ivelisse for him losing all his matches and dumps her. Nice shooting star press and the win. Maybe he had a point. That was a fun, energetic one that never really slowed down at all. -------------- After the match Ivelisse gets in the ring, Havoc waves goodbye to her and celebrates with the crowd. Angelico is awake enough to try his luck with Ivelisse and gets a kick in the head instead. A shot of the full moon… The Bull! Let’s link those two things together – A werebull! Dario is completing paperwork to add a new wrestler to his roster, but more importantly, look! Dario tells the person that he won’t be held back with some tag team and Konnan speaks highly of him. The person is revealed to be….. Hernandez. Oh well, they can’t all be winners. But he does get a front row seat for tonight’s main event. AAA Mega Championship: Texano vs Alberto El Patron(c) – Bull Rope MatchAfter a great cage match and a great casket match, let’s see if they can make it three in a row for memorable gimmick matches. (spoiler: nah) Striker brings up how these matches are usually touch all 4 corners to win (and we know how that usually plays out) but in this match pins and submissions also apply. I don’t know if there was much editing, but there was plenty of crowd/commentary shots and it did feel like we skipped through stuff at the beginning. Texano starts using a chair. Ok, definitely some editing happening, Texano sometimes doesn’t have the rope attached, then it’s there again in the next shot. Commentary isn’t mentioning it either. Texano grabs a table. Next up: Texano finds a ladder. In a shocking twist, I’m going to say something not entirely positive about the camerawork! They should have switched to the high shot a little earlier, just a couple of seconds would give you time to adjust to what you're seeing before the move starts. After Texano uses the cowbell, Bertie catches him with the armbar over the ropes for the successful defence. Hard to say how good the match really was with the editing. You lose a lot of investment when you don't see all the build before the finish. --------------- Puma training with Konnan in the LU Gym (complete with complimentary flashbacks). Hernandez comes along to greet Konnan and introduce himself to Puma. Ah, I see where things are going now. Come the end of the episode Konnan will be with Hernandez instead of Puma. Even more specific: Puma gets hit with Konnan’s new cane. LU Championship: Cage vs Prince Puma(c) w/Konnan – Boyle Heights Street FightI wish I could have somebody introduce me like Melissa introduces Cage. Oh yeah, there isn’t actually a title belt anymore. Hernandez in the front row. At least he didn’t need to wander down part way into the match holding his ticket in the air. Dario appears with a shiny new title That’s much fancier than the first version. I like it a lot more than the original. Wonder if this one is cursed? Puma hits a shooting star off the apron. He didn’t want to, but Cage clotheslined him. Think Paul London at the Rumble that one year. Cage looks under the ring for a weapon, it takes him a while to find one since Texano stole most of them earlier. He eventually finds a chair. I think I’ve worked out who it is that’s under the Puma mask *Points thumbs at self* Then again, I don’t remember RVD ever doing a shooting star off the ringpost He follows up with a basic 450 from the top to the outside through a table. Vamp really doesn’t like Konnan, he tries to get Striker to agree that Konnan is ugly. Cage attacks Konnan, Hernandez doesn’t seem too bothered, or at least not bothered enough to get up. Puma misses the 630 and gets hit with the discus clothesline... and Weapon X... and 30 seconds of punches... and a powerbomb... and a powerbomb on the bin. Nobody accused Cage of being smart as instead of winning he focuses on Hernandez. Konnan sneaks in the ring and hits Cage with his new metal stick (Vamp calls him a dirty bastard), Hernandez throws a bin in the ring which almost hits the ref and Puma. 630 on target means another successful title defence for Puma. He celebrates with his shiny new title to end the episode. Post Episode Thoughts/Questions- It could be that Ivelisse is done with Havoc, but wrestling history suggests that she’ll come back with a new (debuting?) man to get revenge for being embarrassed. - I know that they’ll actually have things planned out in advance, but if having multiple big matches means significantly editing one of them, it would be a better choice to delay one to the next episode. - Ok, I was wrong about Konnan turning on Puma to join Hernandez, but I still believe that it’s coming at some point. - I’m glad the bull made a friend. Or is it an enemy? How can I be so focused on this? - Cage could blame Hernandez for his loss. Those two in a match would be ....something? - Next challenger for Puma? I don't know about an ongoing thing, but you can pretty much throw anybody in there for a one off match and it wouldn't feel wrong. - That felt like the end of a run of a few episodes where the matches were the main focus and we’ll be getting back to other stories that we've not seen for a few episodes.

Actually, the story of Ivelisse and Havok is going into an even more fun direction than you suspected. And now I wonder whether the first belt looked so cheap because they did know that they will be doing the "belt going to be destroyed and replaced with a much better one" story, or they created the story because the fan reaction was negative about the first belt.

I don’t know if there was much editing, but there was plenty of crowd/commentary shots and it did feel like we skipped through stuff at the beginning. DID YOU KNOW? This match got a "Brokeback Mountain" chant live in the temple, and both guys were corpsing through it. I wish I could have somebody introduce me like Melissa introduces Cage. I'm sure you'll be shocked as all of us to learn that these two got married IRL.

Episode 21 – Uno! Dos! Tres!Recap of 1) The Crew and Ryck’s journey so far 2) Aerostar and Drago best of 5 series We’re into Dario’s office where he is polishing the shiny new title (wonder what he’s doing with that) when he is interrupted by Ryck and associates. It’s Killshot in the mask, and Ryck’s cousin, The Mack. As the other two look intimidating, Ryck explains (complete with flashbacks) that the word on the street is that Dario ordered the hit on him where The Crew took him out. Dario denies it as Ryck makes a show of smoking his cigar. This is nicely done, you easily see what the threat is without Ryck coming out and saying it. Oh, trios tag belts. That’s what he’s got, not the main title. There’s going to be a tournament for the belts and he offers… The New Crew? A spot. (There’s gonna be a team of Sexy Star, Pimpi, and Mascarita Sagrada isn’t there?) Ryck gets his pay, and the other two demand and receive some cash as well. You’re not Amanditititititititititititititititititititititititititititititititititititititititititititititita! Which is probably a good thing cause we’d eventually end up with a whole post of ‘titititititititit’. That is Sergio Arau… auauau… no, it’s just not the same. He’s singing a song with the word Lucha in it a whole lot. I’ve only just got the episode title. Angelico vs Johnny MundoBig reaction from the crowd for Mundo The first couple of minutes, with the camerawork, moves and counters, and choreography, I realised that I was basically watching a movie fight scene. Mundo does his spiderman impression on the guardrails. Angelico goes for a top rope huricanrana, Mundo blocks it and basically powerbombs Angelico then hits the End of the World for the win. That was a fun opener, wouldn’t mind seeing those two work together some more. --------------------- Ooh, back to the Black Lotus/Monster in the Cage story. She’s thinking out loud as she writes in her diary, reminding us that It’s been one month since she saw him, she could barely see his face in the darkness but she wanted to kill him, but somebody stopped her before she made a deadly mistake. We find out the the kidnapper is called El Dragon Azteca and claims to be a descendant of one of the original Aztec tribes. As soon as I heard that name, I was going to guess he was some sort of elder or, more likely, an immortal caretaker type person. Remember those ipod adverts? El Dragon Azteca was there the day that her parents were slaughtered by that monster. Told you he was a monster. I was also on the right track with the motivation. And now she is being taught Lucha wrestling by him, which apparently is somehow essential if she wants to avenge her parents’ death. We get to see them running through some moves in the ipod ad style, which is a very different feel to how things were at the start of the segment. Bertie is hanging out in the LU bathroom and congratulates Mundo when he comes in. Mundo asks if he’s only going to face people he’s already beaten or if he’s here to compete. Mundo says he was only joking, Bertie replies that he forgot about Mundo’s sense of humour and he actually forgot about him all together. Bit of a friendly rivalry going on here, looks like we can expect a match (or several) between these two soon. Back in Dario’s office and he’s offering a spot in the trios tourney to Sexy Star. Apparently Pimpi and Mascarita are still on the shelf, so she’s going to need some other partners. Dario gives her two new partners in Super Fly and…. Pentagon Jr. Let’s see: Who is the most expendable? Sorry SF, looks like you’ll be without the use of an arm for a while after your team loses to Ryck and the boys. Star was moving stuff about on the desk during this, which really annoyed me for some reason. Best of Five, Match Four – Drago (1) vs Aerostar (2)I think we can confidently guess who is winning this one. Still love Drago’s look. It’s nothing fancy, especially these days, but I had to gif that kick since it just looked so great. Aerostar has ‘11’ on his armbands. What’s the story there? Aerostar hits a bunch of springboard moves, including the splash that won him the last match, but thankfully it doesn’t get it done this time. Drago wins and evens it at two a piece with a whatever this is: C’mon Dario, give us a gimmick match for the last one in the series. --------------- We get a reluctant, aggressive handshake after the match. We get a look at the Trios titles, no good shot for a pic, but they don’t look like they’d be cursed. We come back to some mysterious music. And shots of… At least I can absolutely say that it’s not me that’s imagining them putting focus on the bull. Dario has Havoc, Ivelisse and Angelico in his office. He says he had high hopes for all of them but they have yet to really impress him. He goes through their failures and points out that none of them have great singles careers. Oh, I think I see where this is going. Yep, he puts them In the tourney as a trios team. That could be fun, teams that don’t like each other can be entertaining. Havoc makes sure to point out to Dario that he dumped Ivelisse before he leaves . Trios Tourney: Big Ryck, Killshot, The Mack vs Sexy Star, Super Fly, Pentagon Jr.There’s a lot less of Killshot than I thought there was. Star and Super Fly get a separate entrance from Penta. Penta makes his way to the ring, grabs a mic and tells his master that it doesn’t matter that they gave him weak partners, he is going to win the trios titles. Star and SF offer a handshake to Penta. Have… have you not been watching the show? Don’t offer him your arm! Penta shakes his own hand. Love the entire place, including commentary, quieting down for Penta’s chops. Mack tags in Killshot and SF tags himself in. Wheeeeeeee! Striker asks Vamp why we see all the chops and then has to answer his own question when Vamp goes in a different direction than what he wanted. How do you learn how much force to put into throwing a person like that? Too little and they crash into the person waiting, too much and they go over the top. After Ryck takes out Penta and Star on the outside, a combo of a brainbuster and double stomp wins it for Ryck and The Boys. ------------- Ryck and The Boys leave as Penta gets back into the ring with SF. Oh dear. Before he can do the arm thing, Sexy Star attacks him and bundles SF to safety as we say goodbye from the Temple. Post Episode Thoughts/Questions
- The Mack is Willie Mack, I think he’s in Impact now? Killshot’s identity doesn’t immediately jump out at me and I can’t place him after seeing him wrestle so feel free to spoil me on who it is, cause the Killshot identity feels LU specific. - Black Lotus getting trained by an old guy so she can get revenge for the murder of her parents feels like a very 80’s movie thing. - I’m going to be so disappointed with the monster in the cage reveal. I’ve built it up so much that nothing less than an actual monster will be enough. - Whoever loses the best of five is attacking the winner at the post match handshake. - If the bull turns out to be the secret ruler of the Temple, I wouldn’t be surprised. - Big guys doing lucha/cruiserweight moves is one of those things where it’s a bit weird that it doesn’t seem as impressive as it should be since it’s such a common occurrence now. - Yep, we’re back to moving some stories on after a few episodes off for some big matches.

Killshot is Isaiah "Swerve" Scott, current NXT North American Champion. Excellent wrestler, but, as you noted, undersized. Much like Ricochet before him, I fear that a great run as NXT North American Champion is going to be the high point of his career with Titan. He has some bangers in Lucha Underground, though, although it takes a little while before he starts getting much screen time.

MAH BOYS KILLSHOT AND THE MACK! Yes Killshot is Isaiah "SWERVE" Scott but yea do not worrie about him not getting alot of time right now because he is pretty much learning on the fly on how to work all the cameras , how to create a character and get it over but also the most difficult thing for him was working with a mask (which should be no surprise he hated the mask) son of Havoc also has stated how difficult it is to work with a mask but he does not have a dislike of it or atleast publicly like Swerve made it known. But everything he is doing in NXT right now he perfects absoloutley 100% so do not worrie about him trust me and trust everyone that will likely tell you aint a damn thing to worrie about and same goes for Mack , this is just my opinion but everything they do in the temple are the best works of both their careers..patience sir Gecko patience. I do not care how hokey it was that Kill Bill inspired training montage was f***ing great (and hilarious) and is just a little bit more of push into where LU's identity is headed they have not even really begun yet. And here a little insight into El Dragon Azteca behind the scenes now I may have it backwards memory sketcy an all...but I believe the first time we see him in ep1 he is actually played by King Cuerno and for the rest he is played by Drago. And there is the welcomed change to Havoc , Ive and Angelico's entire story and character(mostly havoc and Angelico) it is for the better in soooooo many ways (spoilers it is f***ing awesome) And the trios titles another gorgeous belt or set of belts in this instance and from people that have held those they say it is the heaviest belt they have ever held because when you get a good look at them you will see it has a like a 3D image to it where the main part pops out a bit and that is what gives it the distinct honor of being so heavy.

So had to go back and refresh my memory on a few things.
Mack and Killshot debuting......it is not obvious unless one really thinks about it or like me knows their bts temple lore...this was actually suppose to be the start of an inner city gangwar feud between black vs latino gangs. Mack is lowkey suppose to have a pimp gimmick and Killshot well for now he is suppose to be a member of the Bloodz with all his red sooo yea lol and all of this was originally suppose to be original idea of The Crew....originally called THE CRENSHAW CREW but with of course black guys instead of Lantinos which they ended up doing anywhere here anyway lol for a quick min.
lol oh and did you catch the editing f*** up in the Angelico , Ive and Havoc scene? when they are all arguing and you watch Havoc you realiz they did not dub in the voice for him (yes his voice is indeed dubbed I know shocker lol) so yea someone f***ed up there really funny.

I did miss the Havoc screwup and just went back to watch it. It's one of those things that's easily missed (as I proved), but is hilarious to see once you know it's there.
I also got a look at the title of the next episode. That should be an interesting one.

Pentagon Jr and Sexy Star were actually mixed tag team champions in AAA around that time, so I would assume they worked together a lot. You call it ipod ad, I call it Kill Bill volume 2 training montage... The Mack and Killshot are both wonderful additions to Lucha Underground.

Stupid British weather, stop being so hot. That's this week's excuse out the way, on with the show. Episode 22 – Mask Versus MaskRecaps of 1) Penta wanting to break SF’s arm and Sexy Star preventing it 2) Ivelisse/Angelico/Havoc soap opera 3) Puma/Cage match and Hernandez showing up Straight into Dario’s office where he is meeting with Puma and Konnan. He informs them that he wants the Trios titles to be almost as big as Puma’s title and the biggest stars should be in the tourney, so Puma should find a couple of partners because he’s going against a team that Dario has personally assembled. Konnan demands to know who is on that team. One of the people is the person Puma is facing in the main event tonight: King Cuerno, and his partners will be joining him at ringside. So, Puma, Hernandez and… I’m guessing not Konnan. Into the temple where that guy is still singing about lucha. Man, he really loves lucha. Trios Tourney: Son of Havoc, Ivelisse, Angelico vs Drago, Aerostar, FenixThe dysfunctional team make their way out together, even if they are arguing all the way. Before I even know who they’re against, I’m saying they win tonight and end up almost winning the whole thing. Drago and Aerostar aren’t exactly best buddies right now, I’m guessing them not getting along costs them the match (Yes, this should apply to the other team, but… it doesn’t ) First time seeing Fenix since Grave Consequences. Hey, where’s Catrina? No Catrina? BOOOOOOO! Ok, so the winners go into the final (with Ryck and The Boys) and one more team (Puma’s or Cuerno’s) for a three way match. It’s the little details that make things extra special. At the start of the match, Angelico wasn’t doing great against Fenix, and in the background you could see Havoc reacting to it in a ‘why did I get stuck teaming with him’ kind of way. This bit just kept getting more ridiculous Ok, You’re standing on his shoulders, oh wait now he’s standing up as well (which we've seen before), and now he’s the one that’s jumping?! I have no idea how that worked, and it looked like it almost didn’t. We’ll never know if it was enough for the win as Drago pulls Aerostar off the cover. Fenix plays peacemaker for now. Meanwhile, on the other team, nobody is tagging out, people just tag themselves in when the legal person is in reach. Whoops, Aerostar tags himself in and ends up landing on Drago from his moonsault. Back in the ring, Fenix isn’t taking Ivelisse’s strikes seriously, until she kicks him in the face. Lot of DDT’s in this match. Very well done on the tag refusal / abandonment, I did not see it coming. Neither did the crowd from the sounds of it. Ha, you remember me mentioning background details earlier? Drago and Aerostar having a slapfight while Havoc is still shocked by the betrayal. Havoc pins Drago after a SSP. Angelico is happy enough in a "what, I won? ...Yay!" kind of way, but Ivelisse is not pleased. ------------------ Back in the LU gym, as Puma does pull ups, Konnan tells him that he’s found the perfect partner for the trios team, Hernandez. Ok, the clue’s in the name, Konnan, you’re gonna need another one. Has Mundo been there that whole time? Anyway, he lets Konnan know that Puma recruited him for the team. Konnan is not happy about the choice. He totally stole the top of his stick off a Jaguar car. Ryck and The Boys are gonna steal this whole tourney just by being the only team that can get along. Super Fly vs Sexy StarLet’s be honest here, we’re just waiting for the Penta appearance, right? But first, we get a Dario appearance. Star showed mercy last week by saving SF, but he wants them to show no mercy tonight, and to make sure it happens this match will be mask vs mask! The title of the episode made it clear we were getting one, but I wasn’t expecting this. I was thinking it was the set up for the final Aerostar/Drago match. Commentary informs us as to what the masks mean, and how this type of match normally takes years to build up to and shouldn't be just thrown out there by Dario on a whim. Ooh, interesting thought: With Penta involvement, we could end up in a situation where Star has to chose between her mask and SF’s arm. Or the other way round. SF becomes the proper heel in the match after kicking Star in the head. Star rolls SF up for the win. It was a match that happened, not good, not bad, but I’ve got nothing to say about it. ------------------ SF shakes Star’s hand and wants her to help him with his mask. She takes the mask off and they hug. They take in the applause from the crowd, what a heartwarming moment. Oh, and here’s Penta to join in the feelgood stuff. Not a good night for Super Fly, Loses yet another match, loses his mask, then has his arm broken. That's five arms for Penta now; Famous B, Ricky Mandel, Vinny Massaro, Argenis, and Super Fly LU Championship: Prince Puma(C) w/Mundo & Hernandez vs King Cuerno w/Cage & TexanoAnything Cuerno can do, I can do too. It does look very comfy to be fair. Lots of royalty in this match as well as big muscley men Very useful big muscley men as they catch Puma and throw him to Cuerno for a neckbreaker. Nice spot after this where Cuerno is holding Puma and making gestures directed at Mundo and Hernandez while Cage and Texano (with bullrope accessory) hold them off. What a gullible ref, Vamp even wonders if Dario paid him off. Don’t think this is quite what he planned: But it worked out much better than it might have, he kicked both of them and even managed to hit an unintentional elbow drop on Cuerno. Little things again: Cage physically pushes Cuerno back into the ring while Hernandez did it through encouragement. Puma gets the win after a 630, with a little help from Hernandez who has been watching banned 90's Tango ads. ------------------ Puma makes it clear that he doesn’t want the help of Hernandez and while they’re arguing, Cage attacks from behind. Everybody into the ring for the end of show brawl - Apart from Cuerno who I spotted getting taken away by a ref. Post Episode Thoughts/Questions- Didn’t even think of Mask vs Mask being a thing that they might do until I read the words. - Can’t remember the last time (if ever) that I’ve watched a match where neither team gets along. It was great fun. - Konnan still telling Puma that he can’t trust Mundo. Continuity! There’s still a bit of tension in the Konnan/Puma relationship. - Interesting choice of partners for Cuerno. But I guess he really hasn’t had any allies that he can team up with and its more of an 'enemy of my enemy' deal. - I have no idea who’s gonna take the title from Puma, It’s also hard to judge when since they don’t build to PPV’s and it could happen any time. ------------- Late update: I was going through my LU pics and found something that looks familiar: That's from Episode 20, when Dario was meeting a new signee in his office. That signee was Hernandez, who is associated with... Konnan, who has a cane topped with... A little too similar to be a coincidence, me thinks. I've got nothing else, just the fact that they look kind of the same and therefore it's obviously a big conspiracy somehow.

GREATEST HANDSHAKE IN WRESTLING HISTORY. Always makes me smile. LU starting their season 1 end game now....wont say anything more but if I can emphasis anything from here on out is that you will have to double...naw triple down on how closely you pay attention to everything. PUMAS HEAD DRESS DEBUT! I love all the very very unique but also very fitting costumes...the costume department was just magical on this show. Hernandez or as Konnan has dubbed him and he shall never live it down...BABY NUTZ lol. And I see someone is upping their detective skills noticing the black cat in Dario's office which was also on Konnans cane which was a nice tie together to connecting him to Konnan....see what I mean you have to pay super duper close attention....the bull though it forever haunts you lol. Pentagon is such a shit head lol but it is amazing Oh and here is a little funny note on superfly....the reason he lost his mask here besides whatever story they were trying to tell but because SuperFly had already lost his mask in AAA.

Yeah, I took a week off, what are you going to do about it? Convince the whole forum that any pic they post should include a red bull in it somewhere and then everybody should deny seeing any bulls? ...please don't do that. Nah, it was mental health issues and my head just wasn't in the right place to give it the attention it deserves/needs to do it properly. Episode 23 – Fire in the CosmosRecap of: 1) Recent interactions of Puma and Hernandez 2) Aerostar / Drago best of five series We start on the roof of the Temple where Dario joins Aerostar who is ‘gazing off to the cosmos’. Dario says Aerostar may get his inspiration from there, but Drago gets his from the fires of hell and he will stop at nothing to win tonight. It’s the guy who likes to sing about Lucha and he has a fancy Mexico guitar. Bet that one’s not getting smashed over anybody's head. Trios Tourney: King Cuerno, Texano, Cage vs Prince Puma, Hernandez, Johnny MundoFor the heel team introductions: Cuerno: *crowd boos* Melissa smiles and winks Cage: “They call him cage” in a slightly sultry tone Texano: Eh, and this guy as well, I suppose. Vampiro is still having a go at Konnan. This time Striker mentions that Puma could potentially be a double champion, Vamp says that Konnan would like being in the limelight without doing anything as usual. Don’t know why, but the start of this match with Cuerno and Hernandez felt odd for some reason, almost like they weren't taking things seriously. Hey, it’s that guy! Wait, is that Daivari? It is! Commentary still bringing up Mundo getting his leg injured by Cuerno from way back whenever somebody targets it. Traditional Lucha Kick up the arse by Cuerno. The dive by Hernandez looked pretty impressive and maybe he should be proud, but… Great camerawork as usual. Lucky for him, Mundo and Puma intercepted Cuerno. Also lucky for him, unlike me they can remember which team Hernandez is on, cause all through this match I kept putting him with the other side. Where did Daivari get that drink? We must be getting to the end of the match: Everybody is running all over the place and they’ve completely forgotten about the tag part of the match. Cuerno pins the champ after a shot from Texano and his bullrope. That was great fun. ---------------------- Smattering of ‘What’ chants as Dario appears in order to congratulate the winners, but he wants a preview of the final, so there will be a three way match with one member of each team… and that match is next! You might call it being overly suspicious, but I don’t trust that guy in the middle of Striker and Vamp Cage vs The Mack vs Son of HavocIs Cage doing this one because Melissa wouldn’t let him leave? This looks like it’ll give Mack a chance to have more focus on him and show off what he can do. Early indications are good. C’mon Daivari, get off your phone and watch the match! How can you not like Havoc when he comes up with stuff like that? Tower o’ Doom spot Cage picks ups the win by being smart. Another fun one, looking forward to the final and I definitely want to see more of The Mack. ------------ Daivari is impressed. Maybe he’ll be in more of a managerial role than a wrestler? Nowhere other than wrestling could you get that image. I’m liking the contrast between the meetings: -Aerostar outside in a wide open space, full of peace and tranquillity. -Drago in a dark, dingy, grimy, enclosed space that has seen better days. Dario does his stuff and claims that Aerostar wants to ascend to the next level and claim his Unique Opportunity and will stop at nothing to achieve his goal. Before we get to that match however, Here’s Pentagon giving some instructions to Melissa Santos. She informs us that he is dedicating his next sacrifice to his master. Hang on a minute…. Run Melissa! Oh, shit!, that’s actually what’s happening! Guess that’s why she’s wearing shorts this week (I notice the important details). Penta throws her around a bit like a cat playing with its food. Vamp gets up from commentary to help her, but Sexy Star gets there first. I guess that this shows that Penta has no restrictions on who he will sacrifice: man, woman, wrestler, non-wrestler, small children, beloved pets, harmless old grandmothers... I think it's time to bring back the stunt granny. Star says she's not afraid of Penta, but I see a Vamp arm break in the future as well. Penta definitely noticed Vamp getting up to interfere. Dario out to do the ring introductions. I’m betting he adds a last minute stipulation in here. Best of 5 final: Aerostar(2) vs Drago(2)Ok, no final stipulation, but I did get a chuckle out of Dario screaming at the timekeeper to ring the bell. Striker says that it’s still very early in the match after only a few seconds. I hope this doesn’t indicate they’ve cut a load of stuff. If it turns out that Dario is (or is working for) some supernatural, evil, demonic entity, this is the moment that gave it away. (He also kind of looks like Rowan Atkinson here) I swear some people just aren’t as affected as much by gravity (and to even things out you have people like Becky Lynch who just plummet when they jump) Laughter from the crowd as there’s a miscommunication as to which way each should run and Drago ends up spinning in a circle before taking off. Love the overhead camera for the trust fall/coffin drop. Dario really enjoying them hurting each other. Striker claims that you can win a match with a hiptoss. I have my doubts about that... unless it’s into an exploding, electrified piranha tank wrapped in barbed wire. Aerostar has been fiddling with his mask during the match, it was even undone at the back at one point. The (pretty flimsy looking) Lucha Table comes out from under the ring as Striker reminds us that it’s no DQ, No count out. I must have missed that bit. Daivari is still there and is impressed with Aerostar’s dive through the table. Vamp compares the fans to British football hooligans. Eh? Drago wins after a nasty flippy ddt thing and then a fancy rollup. ------------- Why do I get the feeling that the “Unique Opportunity” is not going to be anything good for Drago? Drago helps Aerostar up and Aerostar raises Drago’s hand. A handshake and a hug and I’m just waiting for the attack to come. I’ll be waiting for longer as Aerostar limps away while Dario gets in the ring. The unique opportunity is a shot against Prince Puma for the LU title… with a catch. If Drago doesn’t win, he’ll be banned from the Temple forever! And that’s us for another episode. So coming up in the future we can look forward to the trios tourney final, presumably a Penta/Sexy Star match, Puma vs Drago, Daivari doing stuff and other bits that weren’t focused on this week. Post Episode Thoughts/Questions
- Hernandez is one of those people that I just automatically class as a heel no matter what their current alignment is. I’m sure that’ll sort itself out soon (I'm still waiting for the Konnan betrayal). - Interested to see what they do with Daivari, I imagine it won’t be an evil foreigner gimmick. - Not seen a whole lot of Mack before, but you can count me a fan just from this episode. - You always know that Dario is going to add a little twist to things, but you don’t know quite when or what it’ll be. This week was also a good example of how manipulative he can be. Inciting Aerostar and Drago to do whatever it takes and then sitting back and gleefully watching the result knowing that he's not told them everything.

Glad to see you are wanting to see more of The Mack and believe me you will absoloutley love ole crazy eyes Willie he is so f***ing awesome easily in my top 10 in all of LU ever , of course there are other places to see him but like I say about just about everyone else that came through LU this is where he puts in his best work IMO , he will never let you down always give you a show. I so want that name plate....what do you mean talk about the other thing in the pic idk what you are talking about there is only the name plate. And yea it is easy to see why the Believers took to Havoc when he is doin just cool smooth shit like that. And a little info...those people behind vamp and Striker are the "VIPS" they get beer/Cervesa and unlimited baggle bites.

Inciting Aerostar and Drago to do whatever it takes and then sitting back and gleefully watching the result knowing that he's not told them everything. You're starting to see why Dario won the Wrestling Observer Award for Non-Wrestler of the Year a couple years in a row. He's interestingly evil without being too much of a cartoon character. The best thing about his character, though, is how consistent it is. I'll talk about that more in a few weeks. Sees the next episode is 24 And that is all I am going to say about it. Episode 24? What's episode 24? * checks wikipedia * OHHHHHHHH!!!!! Episode 24!!! f*** yeah!!!

The fun thing is Dario is nowhere near hitting his peak yet hell I would go as far as to say I don't think he ever hit the ceiling on the character because he only gets better and better and this both the strength of Luis Fernandez Guil as an actor and the writing.
Dario as a character has not even really begun to stretch his preverbial wings yet but that time is coming though.

Do not worry about us. Mental health is very important. Take your time.
Yeah, Texano didn't really grew on me either and I can't see Hernandez anything but a heel.
Next episode has my absolute favorite wrestling move in it.

Episode 24 – Trios ChampionsRecaps of: 1) Trios tourney, unsurprisingly 2) Penta and his shtick 3) Havoc/Ivelisse/Angelico triangle Oh, we’re not going to the Temple, we’re heading straight to Black Lotus telling us that she’s been ‘there’ training for eight weeks and she knows she’s ready. El Dragon Azteca shows up and says his catchphrase, “Come with me.” Training time Yup, we’re going to talk some more about the way LU is shot. This time we’re talking about colour. This whole segment, apart from a single candle providing a warm contrast while she was writing, has had a blue tint to it. Different colours can give a shot a different feel, here the blue makes it a cold, harsh, uncaring, and isolated environment. It's a proper martial arts scene: Everybody took their turn instead of rushing her and they even added in punching sound effects. After she disposes of them, Mr Dragon shows up and takes his turn. He defeats her and tells her that she’s not ready. (next week she’ll be kicking a tree until it falls over) Into the Temple to catch the end of the set from the guy who likes singing about lucha. First time we’re getting a proper good look at the trios titles Yup, nothing wrong with those. Sexy Star vs Pentagon JrHey, Melissa, what’s with the favouritism with the announcing? Oh, right. That whole thing. Melissa is limping, even the ring announcers sell things properly here. Daivari is still hanging around. I noticed him as Striker was going on about Penta’s master. Hmm…? nah, doesn’t feel right. You know how sometimes the timing on things is so great that you don’t know whether it was planned perfectly or just an amazing coincidence? I was thinking that Star was getting a bit more offence than I would have thought, and then: Oh, Penta, you’re just playing, aren’t you? Ugly powerbomb into a backstabber, Star basically landed in a sitting position. They repeat the move and get it done right the second time. Penta’s been going after the arm a couple of times without bothering to win the match first, It’s a nice little thing where it shows where his focus is with Star since she’s been interfering with his stuff. Huh, Star got the surprise win after a nice tilit-a-whirl -camera cut- backstabber. ---------- Just as important as the win, she escapes without immediate retaliation as Penta is too busy being pissed off in the ring to follow up with an attack. Mundo in the Lucha gym being efficient by doing all the workouts at the same time. Enter Shit stirrer Bertie who asks if Mundo is getting ready for his Trios match tonight? (no, cause he lost last week) Bertie points out that Mundo just can’t quite seem to grasp that brass ring, and Mundo warns him off. Back to commentary to give a recap on the Drago situation and let us know that the title match is next week. Trios Titles 3-Way Elimination: Texano, Cage, King Cuerno vs Son of Havoc, Ivelisse, Angelico vs Big Ryck, The Mack, KillshotThis is either going to be a long match, or there’s something more worthy than a new title to close the show. It looks like Havoc and Angelico will kind of get along, but Ivelisse wants no part of the team. The way Striker is talking makes it sound like this is Survivor Series style elimination rather than team eliminations, which would make an extra long match more likely. Poor Vamp. Starting sentences that he doesn’t know how to end: “He definitely tore a page out of Angelico’s… backside.” Double stalling vertical suplex by Cage. Impressive, but you can see why it doesn’t usually get done like that. It’s all breaking down, but it’s just to give a chance for the showdown between Big Ryck and Not Quite as Big Cage. Cage goes up to the top and between when he stared and when he got to the top, a mob had formed on the floor ready to catch him for the moonsault. It was noticeable, but at least they weren’t hanging around waiting forever pretending to punch each other while obviously watching Cage. Vampiro claims that there are a lot of soccer teams after Angelico for that field goal kick. How many points is a field goal worth in soccer again? Texano goes flying into Daivari and spills his drink! Nothing to say, just look at that face. Killshot pins Texano after the stomp from the top and it is team elimination as those three are gone. Ivelisse has had an ‘injured’ knee for most of the match. Ryck at one point raised his hand in celebration and there was a single fan you could hear let out the most obnoxious Boooo! Ever. Mack… has a great… top rope elbow. It really is very nice. He gets more impressive every time I see him. Ivelisse and Havoc take out Ryck and Mack with dives, Angelico hits Fall of the Angels (a running Razor’s Edge buckle bomb) on Killshot and pins him! ------------ Before they get a chance to celebrate, Dario comes out of his office and he looks a little shocked. He informs them that they haven’t actually won the titles yet because there’s one more team in the tournament. He introduces The Old Crew aka The Goons as well as mentioning that this one will be no DQ. No DQ Trios Titles: The Crew vs Angelico, Ivelisse, HavocThis is just a mugging. No wrestling match happening, The Crew are just taking apart their opponents on the outside. Back body drop sends Angelico onto the top of Dario’s office. Ah, I think I know which famous spot is coming up soon. Not a good idea to change your mind about doing a move halfway through Here it is (Really not something you want to be indecisive about): And now I know the context for it. And who actually did it, now I come to think of it. That has to be the most seen LU spot, right? We’ve seen people jump from there before, but not going full speed like that. Well done Angelico for not dying. I did rewind and watch it a few times (now that it's a decent quality version) and yeah, that fits right in a highlight video of over the top wrestling spots. Shortly after, The Goons live up to expectations and lost the match that was perfectly set up for them. ------------------- Feel good ending as the new champs celebrate while the crowd gives them their dues and Striker explains all that they’ve overcome to get to this point. Post Episode Thoughts/Questions- They’re really not rushing into a Bertie vs Mundo match - Um. I dunno? Not really got anything else for this one apart from I’m still enjoying things. - Oh, I know! It’s nice to just to see an upbeat ending, the faces overcame the odds and won. - I still want the Angelico/Ivelisse/Havoc relationship to be less than perfect though. Next time: Drago vs Puma with Drago getting the boot if he doesn't win.

The single most gifed moment in IMO not just LU but in just televised wrestling period in the last seven or so years. It is moments like this which makes LU exactly what everyone says it is...the temple is magical because gawd damn people can fly!! A Gecko after my own heart talking about how LU is shot lol and it is only going to get better and better the lighting improves , the camera work all of it just gets better and better as we keep going. And the final sequence might be the single best call in Strikers whole career and I say might because in due time lol but the picture he completely paints about the unlikely trio being at their end and completely defeated....Ive alone in the ring , Angelico too far to do a thing , Havoc out on the outside. And then the crew closing in on Ive to finish them for good....THIS THIS AND THIS is why I put this show above all others from a purely writing standpoint everything about this was picture perfect everything about storytelling in this match is why I can and do praise this endlessly...it is a genuine underdog overcoming all the obstacles in the ultimate all or nothing moment and that moment with Angelico coupled with Strikers commentary and the crowd losing there every loving shit. I remember watching this live literally got up out of my seat and was left speechless for a good solid 10 or so minutes and then just going to read others reactions...and it would definetly not be the last time that happens to me because of this show. When believers tell people there aint nothin like LU it is because of moments like this on this show. And this is the match where Ive really earned everyones respect because she actually was not suppose to be in this because she legit broke her ankle and the Jefe's behind the scenes were willing to pull her out for her safety but she insisted on being in the match and she pushed through so there is absoloutley no doubt while she is a damn headcase the woman is tough as hell and really makes the moment all the more memorable knowing that piece of info. More love for The Mack I love to see it. And you are definetly going to be taking more notice of Melissa's announcing because she adds nice little touches in how she announces people and it just makes her job as the ring announcer really fun and not just standard announce wrestler and leave , and don't you love that LU is so damn generous with its violence that even the beautiful announcer isn't left out of the action . And unfortunately it will be a thing with sexy star going forward because many will tell you of everyone on this show...her matches were the most heavly edited because well the woman is not a good wrestler lol but there are things in due time so.

I had a longer reply but my internet went blip when I hit post and I can't be bothered typing it all again Didn't really cross my mind that it might be a genuine injury, I was half thinking it was an "injury" and half agreeing with commentary saying she might not want to win since she'd have to spend more time with the other two. Kudos to her for pushing through, cause writing her out of the match would still fit right in with the story they had and would have been the easy (and possibly sensible) option.
