It hasn't, Dave. It really, really hasn't. They just had to cut off a five-picture Harry Potter spinoff that nobody wanted at three films because, well, nobody wanted them. We've had five live-action Batmen in the last eleven years, plus two old ones dusted off for the Flash movie that lost 200 million at the box office. Their intellectual properties are a lot of things, but "underused" ain't one of them. You'd think, between their conversations about pauperizing their own actors, that Bob Iger would've mentioned that he's still trying to course correct from Bob Chapek's "squeeze every drop of juice out" approach to the Marvel and Star Wars IPs and the diminishing returns there.

I'm really interested to see what this Harry Potter series is going to be like. Although, at this point, who knows when/if we actually get it.

These dudes love a bad idea This reminds me of the Tiny Toons episode where Buster's video game gets interrupted with a Breaking news report

I mean, rather than waste a courtroom's time so a judge to say "Yeah, Clayton Laws say no", Zaslav would be better off just getting a hobby? Like, he ain't buggering off any time soon so it'd be more productive.

Friendly reminder Mr. Strategic Decision here dropped a 200 million dollar dud and had to be bullied into not canceling Coyote Vs. Acme.

Friendly reminder Mr. Strategic Decision here dropped a 200 million dollar dud and had to be bullied into not canceling Coyote Vs. Acme. And despite having the highest-grossing movie of the year, WB are going to be taking a huge loss on their total theatrical business for the year, which will most likely get worse with Aquaman 2 shaping up to struggle to make its money back too. And let's not forget that due to the studios' mishandling of the labour strikes the 2024 release schedule is looking barren.

Wild that the board has not removed him, he's the highest paid CEO and is doing negative business.

Wild that the board has not removed him, he's the highest paid CEO and is doing negative business. He's taking all the heat for all of their dumbass decisions. They're happy to keep him around. He's an ass, but he's not the only one.

He's an ass, but he's not the only one. He's the epitome of a corporate suit CEO that has no interest in anything other than "line must go up" for every single quarter report, no foresight, no future planning just "line goes up hurr durr"

I hope these talks never amount to anything. The last thing the industry needs is more consolidation and that f***wit Zaslav getting his incompetent hands on even more treasured IP's like Star Trek.

Variety’s confirmed it, too.
This absolutely seems like a way for Zaslav to get something “cooking” and then peace out when it’s over in case it’s a car crash.
And also, a massive anti-trust violation waiting to happen because how the f*** can it not be?

Also, thinking about this more…what does Paramount get out of this?
They seem to be one of the few conglomerates doing well right now, is there a reason they’d be interested in caring hundreds of millions in debt and companies that have been mistreated for years by people who misunderstand their entire ethos? And that’s before they likely have to sell half of them to potentially comply with any government rulings for many global governments.
