I'm okay with the show....although it is having issues. Love the dynamic between our three main characters, but I'm having issues about not caring about everything else (especially the villains). I care about General Lane, but I think the issue for me is that while I am enjoying seeing what villains pop up on a given week, it's not like you tend to get enough to get attached to them. You also have the issue that Amanda Waller is one of those characters that serves her purpose, but we've seen a LOT of Amanda Waller in the past 20ish years, and it's never really much new with her. Ends justify the means, so on and so forth. I don't mind that much, though, in that I am invested in the main trio and would prefer that get more of the focus than whatever shmuck with alien tech pops up on a given week. I enjoy them, I do, but it's not my priority.

I will grant that while I'm loving the show I'm not really super invested in the main superhero narrative. I'm a lot more into the dynamics between the three main characters than whatever Deathstroke's doing or what Zero Day is, if season 2 swerved hard into being focused around filler kind of feels like it could only improve the show.
The villains of the week though have been generally fun.
And yeah, Waller really needs a damn break. She can be an interesting character for sure but she's so omnipresent in stories lately it's hard to give a shit anymore.

These past two episodes fully got me onboard liking Jimmy. I think he kind of works as this guy who kinda knows he's in the DC Silver Age universe, and as we saw here, he's at least validated on a sizable portion of it. I also am cool with him having known Superman's identity due to how often he just... breaks shit right in front of Jimmy. Part of me wants to go back and watch previous episodes and see if, viewed through the lens of Jimmy knowing already, if there's any sign of it or not.. Yeah, with how often Clark flat out smashes alarm clocks and rips doors off hinges in the first episode... Jimmy who was his long time roommate would have to be really dense to not put two and two together when this mysterious stranger with super strength shows up to save everyone.

Then again it's not like we do get much out of any of the other villains. The most we got out of anyone is probably Livewire and Ivo... but still... >_>

That's something of a break from the norm. I just kind of feel like, as much as I do genuinely like the character for the most part, they don't do much challenging with Amanda Waller in most things. I guess they kind of do in the DCAU, but that also kind of falls into "everyone sucks Bruce Wayne's dick all the time" issues that plague Bruce Timm stuff. Still, I did like that she was presented as knowing that she was a real piece of work, something most of them are presented as a bit too smug to have the self-awareness for.

They are definitely cramming too much into this too fast This takes away all of Lois and her grounded relatability making her this all important cornerstone of the multiverse

Oh yeah, this show's version of Mxy is fantastic. That episode was a blast.

Oh yeah, this show's version of Mxy is fantastic. That episode was a blast. I like all the references to other Superman series scattered through out... (and other series... like Kingdom Hearst Lois, and like all of the anime weapons) also Myx's all powerful artifact being his Bowler. I kinda wish they hsowed more of his mischief but there's time for that in other episodes with him. That said with Lois saying "put this one in jail" makes me think that there are other Myx's running around

Episode 7
Adult Swim: "We have Across the Spider-Verse at home"
I like that there definitely now seems to be a counter-reaction in the multiverse to DC's regular foray into 'evil superman" stories, actually setting up a league of Lois to hold them accountable is a trick missing from a lot of adaptations, where usually Lois is the victim/catalyst of it all.
So we might just get in the finale a moment where Lois' kryptonite comes into effect, Clark wonders how Lois got it, and we find over time Lois didn't tell Clark that she got it from Mxy, and Clark would get mad that Lois kept a secret from him, the tables would be turned and they fall out, leaving us with the cliffhanger of season one. I also think they could bring Lana into the end of the first season and set up a triangle for season two if that happens with Lois trying to win Clark back

My guess for the big cliff hanger character for season 2 is {Spoiler}{Spoiler}{Spoiler}{Spoiler} Super Girl, Seems a bit early for that... but the VA was announced in a cast list back when it was stuck in limbo. Edit: that or the big shock reveal the general is Lois's father. (Maybe with a Clark's ship killed her mother or something to explain why he's so obsessed)

I love how much of a piece of shit Mr. Mxy is. This is easily my favorite portrayal of him in something, and I say that as someone who thinks Gilbert Gottfried obviously did a great job, too. Really captures his Q tendencies.
Also, the effect of him and his illusions all laughing during the big fight scene was really good. Properly unsettling.
I did enjoy how the probably Kryptonite lasers had such a ghastly effect on Superman, even if it didn't linger. Love when they make it real creepy.
Very goddamn adorable romance, as per usual. I'm quite taken with this show.

Really curious if this show will get renewed and go to another level with it being on Adult Swim now
Much like how it seems like Unicorn Warriors Eternal's story isn't finished, after this back half order of My Adventure's I'm curious how the story will lean and if things will continue to get darker because now it CAN get darker with it being there
That being said, love what I've seen, and think with how hard they've pushed the Multiverse angle that people getting mad about designs or character portrayals seem even stupider tbh, at this point almost every piece of superhero fiction especially is being written with an acknowledgment of a multiverse, it's not gonna "ruin a character" it's one take on a character out of hundreds of different ways the character has and will exist!

I'm not sure they will or really need to get darker... I think the tone of the show is pretty much perfect for what they're going for.
There already is a season 2 ordered (it was ordered before it aired but with how positively received it's been I can't imagine it will be cancelled... but WB gonna WB)

This is pretty much the perfect time for presenting Superman more optimistically.

I think there are places where the show could benefit from playing a little more into playing on Adult Swim going forward - some aspects do feel a little, "We're smoothing this over for the kids," in how they're phrased and presented - but I don't think you need to drastically change the show or anything. It should still very definitely feel like a kids' show, just maybe one with slightly more of an edge than it has now.

I feel like the writers only intend to do two seasons with how they've sped-run through this one, anything else is gonna feel post-script afterwards

That said I will grant that current rate of things Jon's going to be born in the middle of next season.

Just watched the new one and like is there any remaining doubt at all that Alex is Luthor?
Also try to unhear that he has the same voice as Ryuji from Persona 5.

The show having two different end credits music (standard and a serious, ominous one) is a nice touch.
