The f***ed up thing is, it's only been the matches with Rousey involved that she's "been lucky" since she started getting this push going into Money In The Bank. First match, RAW before MITB, she fights Bliss. Yes, she wins with a rollup, but in this thread alone we had this post: And here's the finish from that:  OK, Bliss was hotdogging and grandstanding instead of hitting a DDT, but that's a tight rollup and it wasn't caused by outside interference or distraction. Ring awareness, capitalising on Bliss's mistake. Second match, six woman tag, boom, Oblivion on Shotzi for the pin. Third match, ladder match, boom, briefcase. Fourth match is cash-in for the belt. Fifth match, tag match, boom, Oblivion to Natalya for the pin. Sixth match, singles against Natalya, boom, Oblivion for the pin. Seventh match, Rousey back involved for a tag, she gets the tapout on Deville after Morgan tries to work the whole match as a handicap to prove she can do it on her own. Eighth match, SummerSlam and... yeah. That's where we're at. So basically the common denominator in all this is Rousey, and how she apparently need to be protected because everyone's brains will explode if she somehow loses a wrestling match by not being a better wrestler. That's why I think it's more a "protect Rousey" thing than a "hurt Morgan" thing, at least until the PPV match with Baszler. She also pinned Sasha this year by reversing a pin attempt as well. I've been beating this drum for months now but she needs a new harder hitting finisher. It's just not sustainable to keep having to book her matches around getting lucky looking roll-up pins. It's not just Ronda, can you picture people like Rhea/Bianca/Becky/Charlotte/Asuka getting pinned clean with the Oblivion? It'd make them look terrible. There's a reason the only people to lose clean to it are midcarders. I kept thinking in the week or two before Summerslam okay, I don't think they'll take the title off Liv yet but I also can't think of a believable move in her repertoire that could realistically beat Ronda and well, we all saw the compromise they ended up going with. |

I think we need to enjoy her reign while it lasts because I don't see it going much longer, or her winning the title ever again. Maybe if she turns heel and it's amazing. Like she dyes her hair pink again and brings back the blue tongue permanently. And then Bray comes back and they form the Wyatt Squad. Turns out she was Sister Abigail all along. I'm just throwing shit out there.

Did she get booed on SD? Edit: Just watched the video posted a few pages back. Good God.
To me this says more about booking than her. I'm thrilled that HHH is running things now, but he's not perfect and this is looking like a big L for him at the moment.

It's a rock/hard place issue; you don't want Liv to lose the title, but the way Ronda is presented, Liv just beating her clean doesn't work either. And yeah, that's why you shouldn't book yourself into a corner like that, but Vince had to Vince it up and I don't really know if there's a "good" way to book Liv/Ronda. Liv will be fine; I'm sure they're going to rebuild Shayna into a proper heel threat. They just need to keep Liv the absolute f*** away from Ronda Rousey unless they're ready to have Rousey lose clean to somebody. |

Yeah, the Rousey thing is a massive conundrum in terms of booking opponents. Unless they’re an athletic phenom like Belair, a big powerhouse like Ripley or Rodriguez or a wrestling lifer like Lynch, Asuka, Banks or Bayley, you’re kinda shit outta luck. Morgan has gotten where she has through sheer determination and hard work, but it’s hard to say that she fits into any of those three categories. Hell, the only reason why people are giving her grace in terms of a match with Baszler is because of how depowered she’s been over the last two years.

Honestly how I probably would've booked it was maybe have Liv be completely outmatched but refuse to stay down leading to Ronda just progressively getting more and more bloodthirsty until eventually getting DQed. It's still a copout that makes her look like she got lucky, kind of unavoidable with the match already made, but at least it'd be in a way where she might read as actually sympathetic and looks durable if nothing else.
