WWE Releases: Pandemic to Now - Last Updated 29/04/22

RAW has seen a precipitous drop of quality from these releases (Keith Lee, Karrion Kross), and Dijak not used. Now it's the same old players who are mostly in their 40's who you don't know if Vince will push, or release, or leave the company, or retire, and not really exciting in their 40's overall unless mixed up with youth. It's true that Lee & Kross aren't young, BUT they're new & different, and great in their own different ways and had something interesting to offer. It feels so good to do other productive things in life than to watch this.

NXT is actually the best show by WWE, relatively speaking.

Bring back vignettes, or cliffhangers, or something fresh.

Well, he doesn't exactly fit in with NXT's new direction, so unless he's just happy to put over all the rookies for the rest of his career, I'm not sure why he would want to stick around.

Gargano was on both of their lists, so I wouldn't be surprised if the bucks have contacted him, making an offer.

there were no rumors it was just people in this thread making unfounded speculation based on literally nothing.

Which was one of the many reasons I told people not to keep bringing it up.

I do wonder how Stephanie feels about this... I'm sure outwardly she's not going to ever say anything cause 1. her father is the one behind them and 2. as one of the top executives you don't claim the company is making a mistake cause that causes shareholders to drop.

But it's gotta make her job harder too, the CBO's entire job is to make the company look good... yeah she can point to the high revenues and profits but... from an optics stand point these releases ain't great.

I hope if guys like Gargano do resign they are smart and get some clauses in to benefit them like If WWE chooses to release him that he gets paid 50% of the value of the rest of his contract or something

I’m not sure how it’d work in practise but something like that to at least have some security because contract lengths mean diddly squat

Top Dolla kinda seems like a hot head but it really does seem like if you have a free thought of your own in this company that doesn't line up with Vince's you're just outta there

Hit Row were all very outspoken talents and that probably killed them more than anything... they don't have the bargaining chips and power people like say New Day does to be the same way unfortunately...

And, from pretty much every account, Stephanie is really well-liked by the wrestlers and treats them with respect. She's not going to go publicly against her father, but I can see her being in a shitty place privately where she has to be in the middle between Vince and Triple H, or Vince and the talent.

If WWE wouldn't do that for bigger names, they sure as hell aren't going to do it for Gargano. It would open up a can of worms, and every wrestler whose contract was expiring would make the same demand.

It's still worth a shot.  If WWE isn't willing to entertain the possibility of a significant guarantee, then as a wrestler you know they want to keep their options open as far as cutting you. 

That at least helps you make an informed decision on if you really want to sign that contract, knowing you might be released at any moment because of the whims of an elderly man who doesn't "get" you.

They have to earmark a couple of ring talented vets to work the greenhorns.

Garganos apparently 1, Ciampa and Roddy seem on that list too. The question is if they actually want those roles.

I think Gargano might have stayed if they offered him a lot of money and a no release clause or something. Dude has a baby on the way, and I know he wants to make sure his family is financially stable.

..but since AEW is around, guys like him, Owens, Roddy, etc., can leave and go to a company where they’re creatively free as well as being able to make sure their families are still good. That’s gotta be a plus to potential talent. They didn’t have this option 10 years ago of course besides maaaybe TNA, but times have changed for the better thankfully.
