I remember doing a thread like this nearly a decade ago and I asked if it was doomed from the start. Some had told me that it wasn't really doomed if things went a little differently. From what I can remember, Scott Steiner had a massive pop when he appeared at Survivor Series 2002 and had a good reaction, and then came when he was suddenly put in a feud with Triple H. Did anybody think that it was not a good idea to put him in a main event feud that soon? I also heard that he was injured when he debuted and he also displayed some ring rust in some areas, which explained why both of his matches with Triple H were terrible. This wasn't a case of Triple H burying him, either. It just showed that Steiner wasn't ready for anything like that so soon. Then he was put in really long angle involving Test and Stacy Keibler, which really didn't help matters because that feud went on for too long and then led to those two teaming up.
So what did you think of this run? Do you think it could have gone better than it actually did? I wouldn't be surprised if some believe that Steiner was going to be made to look bad considering he was a WCW guy. Yes, I know he and Rick were in the WWF when they debuted a decade prior and had a decent run there, but the Steiner Brothers were always known as WCW guys up to that point.

Well, injury aside, he was comically bad as a wrestler at this point, but he had a place as a midcard heel. I kinda liked his goofy teamup with Test and Stacy hating both of them, even if the overtones of the initial feud were awful. Test getting injured kind of killed their momentum just as they got out of the gate.
So I'd say he could've had a better run even with the terrible HHH feud; Steiner was always going to be better off as a heel anyway. He just needed some better luck and to lean on his personality rather than a bunch of hazardous-looking suplexes.

It was what it was, It could been better had Steiner had his foot fixed before he signed. He did right after and when he got to TNA he was better. The other factor he was out of the ring for a long time. He should been sent to OVW or some place to have in ring work outs or dark matches to work the rust off before crowds even showed up to see it, you can tell he was rusty and not in ring shape. He looked great but his cardio and ext was off. Being thrown in against HHH without anything was a bad call and he only got a little better as the run over all went on but he was still having issues.

Triple H may not have buried him directly but wrestling Steiner in the standard long plodding Triple H match led to Steiner being shown up. The first match was on the Rumble PPV and was to end on a DQ. It should have been 5 minutes of H bumping for Steiner and then getting himself DQed. But H, especially then, only cares about how he comes out looking after the match.

When they brought back the IC title in May. They should've reheat Steiner, by having him win the Rumble. Then he holds the belt the rest of the year until he drops it to Orton. Perfect place for Steiner, as the lead mid-card act.

I would imagine that Scott Steiner with his giant ego he wasn’t very popular in the locker room. I do know that he couldn’t care less for his male fans, annoyed at any interaction. When I said hello to him at a Brooklyn bar following an MSG house show, he just sneered.

Between the Triple H debacles and the never-ending Test feud you had the Nowinski debates where Steiner could not have looked worse.
Still wild to think he went from headlining two consecutive pay-per-views to not even being booked on the next month's Wrestlemania and then only being on the Sunday Night Heat of the April show.
He really should have considered holding off until his dropfoot was cured. It's a weird nerve injury that's super hard to predict, so I don't know if Steiner just assumed it would return on its own at some point during his run or if it had bothered him for longer than that and he just didn't want to undergo a procedure, but he should have waited no matter how good the money was.

Oh man, I was just about to ask if anyone here remembered the debate segment with Nowinski. Obviously we can't talk too much about it because of board rules, but that shit was hilarious. ![(rofl)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/rofl.png)

Like the fact Scott Steiner wrestled a lot of countries.

They never should have signed him in that condition. He failed the medical, but they were so desperate to find name guys to put over Triple H it didn't matter, and they figured he could be drug tested and fired once he'd done that. Kudos to Steiner for agreeing to the test, but only if Triple H took one at the same time.

Should've been used better.
This guy was a former WCW World Champion. And they treated him like a f***ing jobber.
I get he wasn't in the best condition but still. They threw money away.
