So I bought tickets to see F9 in IMAX without seeing any of these since the first one because...family.
Anyways, is it safe to say if I want the express lane to catch up it's just watching F5 on, right? or is the 4th one important?

I guess it would depend on how you would want to watch movies. If you're someone who *has* to see what happened before, maybe start at 4. But for the most part, just go and turn your brain off for two hours

I've only seen (or was dragged to) the first, and hated it. However, I've heard the series gets more self-aware and takes itself less seriously or something. Still not my thing though.

If you’re watching it on a good IMAX screen I have no doubt it’s going to look sick.

The fact that they gave us this scene of The Rock flexing to break off his arm cast makes the whole film series worth it.

1 , 3 , 5 and maybe 4
Are the only ones I would reccomend out of this series everything else is completely and utter trash.
I said it earlier atleast at the onset of the series they had stakes....but when we reach cars being able to outdrive a torpedo fired from nuclear sub we have moved on from movies to videogames....I am waiting on these movies to just begin with the game genie code for infinite lives and no damage being put in place of the opening credits.

I saw Tokyo Drift when I was in High School. I never wanted to see another one after that.

Anyways, is it safe to say if I want the express lane to catch up it's just watching F5 on, right? or is the 4th one important? I am amazed that you're going into this blind without having seen how crazier the films had gotten. I would recommend them from 4 or 5 onward. Was thinking I would wait until they eventually make their way on a Turner Classic Movies marathon 20 years from now, but in the off chance I want to binge this series, is it worth it? I hope you're considering doing this soon instead of going with your original idea of waiting another two decades to binge on them. Besides, USA and FX show the films quite consistently. I saw Tokyo Drift when I was in High School. I never wanted to see another one after that. In all fairness, Tokyo Drift didn't really have much connection with the previous two and was only slapped with the name to sell tickets. At some point, Universal and producers ended up putting it as part of the canon. If you never wanted to see another one after that, I am not sure how you would handle all of the zaniness that these films have. 1 , 3 , 5 and maybe 4 Are the only ones I would reccomend out of this series everything else is completely and utter trash. I could only imagine your reaction to some of the craziness from Hobbs & Shaw, which came out after the eighth film. I won't deny that the truck and helicopter chase was a bit much, but as a standalone spin-off, it's a fun film. All I can say is that I am looking forward to seeing the ninth film despite knowing how much crazier it has gotten. Sure, the vault-chase in Fast Five was something that got my eyes raised and all like "Huh?" when I saw it in theaters. Even the gas heist at the beginning of the fourth film was a bit nuts but not to the extreme of how in Furious 7 when someone could drive an exotic car and jump into another building then into another before dropping to the ground. Man, I'm in the mood to binge on all of these movies in preparation despite binging on them back in November. I might do at least two movies per day. Hobbs & Shaw is not necessary but I just want to add it on for the hell of it.

I saw the first one, went "eh", and was more impressed with Gone in 60 Seconds as far as car movies went. I saw the next few, and thought they were alright for what they were.
After that, it just became a spoof of itself, and of the genre as a whole. Kind of like the Saints Row of action movies.

I only seen the 2nd one and whichever one was before the 1st one the rock was in (I wanna say the 4th one, it was just Fast & Furious)
Again enjoyed the 2 movies but yea its not one where I have to see all of them, I'd probably watch one if it was on TV randomly on a channel on a Saturday afternoon.

A local drive-in theater is showing a double feature of F9 and Smokey & The Bandit this weekend. I have absolutely no interest in seeing F9 but I'm still tempted to go anyway.

Oh shit! It was amazing.
They get more ridiculous each movie, so this was dumbest most fun one yet. So many call backs, cameos, flashbacks, I’m soo happy they making at least two more of these.

I've never seen any of the Fast and Furious movies either. I just won't ever have any type of interest in any of the movies from that hugely popular film franchise. I've never seen any of Vin Diesel's movies and I've never seen any of Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson's movies either.
