Was thinking I would wait until they eventually make their way on a Turner Classic Movies marathon 20 years from now, but in the off chance I want to binge this series, is it worth it?

If you binge it, it should be known that the early movies have little to none of the craziness that the more recent (ie, Fast Five on up) ones have.

My high school after prom would do a thing where you could see two free movies at a theater nearby. I didn't go to prom, but I did go to that, and for my senior year after first watching X-Men Origins I sat down to watch Fast & Furious. ... About 15 minutes in I decided to just go home. That's the extent of my exposure to these movies.

Only F&F film I have seen all of was the second film. Seen bits of the later ones.
After seeing part 2 I realized the series ain't for me. What I have seen of the later ones, which I heard were much better, also didn't catch my attention.

i've recently watched the first six, so i say why the eff not? if they're available and you're interested, go for it.
how they go from stealing dvd players, to working with CIA and whatnot though, do not question it. just go with the flow.

They’ve aged incredibly well. For instance, the opening of the first one is truck drivers defending with their lives a truckload of TV/VCR combos.

The series really doesn’t become the crazy nonsense it’s become until the fourth movie. You can start there. Five is probably the best one.
But if you want full experience watch one and two. Skip three. Watch four and go from there. If you want to watch the third one it takes place after six (I think) but is the worst film of the series. They get more and more insane as the series goes on and they are big dumb fun.

Also, make sure to check out the spinoff Hobbs and Shaw, which is incredibly fun.

I have seen all of them. I will note that during the 2000s that I went through an on-and-off period because I had a mixed reaction for the second film. Then when Tokyo Drift came out, I saw that that movie in particular had nobody from the previous two movies and had the name slapped on it. I wasn't that interested until the fourth one was going to come out. I remember that appealed to me but a former co-worker told me that I shouldn't see it because she thought it was a waste (this was before I started to think and see things for myself, rather than take someone else's word for things). Once the 2010s hit and then I heard about how good the fifth one was, I ended up seeing the film (on its last legs, too) and I got back into the series completely.
I will note that if you watch the first three films, they are different from later ones. Even the first three show their age when you see how 2000s they are (especially in Tokyo Drift with the use of flip-phones). Some could argue about the fourth one but that one was a little more grounded than the subsequent ones from the fifth one onward. If anything, once The Rock joined the cast, things became more over-the-top. I will also note that each film gets even more ridiculous as they go on, and it's even glorious! That also goes for Hobbs & Shaw, and that's a spin-off.
Fun fact: The only ones that I didn't see in theaters were Tokyo Drift and Fast & Furious 4. The rest I did see in theaters. If those two would get re-released, then I could do it to make up for things.

If you binge it, it should be known that the early movies have little to none of the craziness that the more recent (ie, Fast Five on up) ones have. You can pretty much gauge the level of craziness by the biggest stunt or action sequences in each movie: TF&TF: The hijacking of a moving truck. 2F2F: Jumping a car from the road onto a moving yaught. TF&TF-TD: Street race through Tokyo. F&F: Chase sequence through a series of collapsing underground tunnels crossing the Mexico-U.S. border. F5: Two cars dragging a bank vault through the streets of Rio de Janeiro with the police and Brazilian mafia chasing them. F&F6: A half-dozen cars chase down and prevent a cargo plane from taking off from the world's most impossibly long runway using grappling hooks while several fight scenes happen inside the plane (while it is in the process of slowly blowing up). F7: A chase sequence that started with four cars airdropping out of a plane and ending with Vin Diesel supermaning between two moving cars to save his ex-girlfriend. The sequence also involves a tank, and the movie also includes a scene where a car is jumped from one skyscraper to another and The Rock using a helicopter minigun as a sidearm. F8OTF: A half-dozen cars engage in a game of chickenwith a stolen nuclear submarine in the artic circle. And that's not even counting the Hobbs & Shaw spinoff, which features a literal genetically-and-cybernetically enhanced supersoldier.

Yeah, I love how this whole thing started with a group of racers stealing DVD players to legitimate super soldiers and legitimate talk of potentially going to space in newer ones >_> the series has never been on rails but it's still somehow found a way to fly off them...

Don't forget how in the second film during the opening race when Brian and that other guy jump off the bridge, but Brian managed to jump high enough to jump over the other guy and not so much get much damage on his car, but the other guy had his car get damaged. The same could be said in the fourth film during the gas heist at the beginning where you would have some trucks connecting to the gas tankers and then having someone spray some stuff to break them away from the other tankers. Add to that when the truck and tankers crashed, Dom manages to barely drive through the fire and wreckage, as well as a flaming tanker flying over him and Letty, and they somehow made it.

Hated the first ones, liked the new ones. Gonna re-watch 'em whenever The Rock is back in the WWE.
