Ah that sucks. I have no interest in seeing Joe on NXT. I love the dude and I was hoping he was gonna pop up somewhere else.
Ah well. The dude is pretty much at the end of his career. Get that big money Joe, you deserve it.

Because Vince is a big f**ing idiot I mean, I was trying to be nice but that seems like the more "reasonable" answer.

Yeah he got the chicken, good for him Also as stupid as this is, what’s being missed is as big and bad WWE is, Joe obviously had no hard feelings or the very least didn’t let it interfere with business Best of both sides for both men Yeah Joe doesn't have near the amount of hate for the company that a lot of others have. He's good.

He's good. Same with Black who hasn’t dogged the company. You have your Miro’s and others who are rightfully salty but it seems like fans expect every wrestler to be bitter when they leave Never let personal feelings get in the way of the money and he’s NXT exclusive now so best of all worlds for him just like his first deal

Watch him get drafted from NXT to RAW in 2 months and then fired before Survivor Series.

Nothing says you're a well-organized company that knows exactly what you're doing than having someone commentate your biggest show, firing them a few days later, and then rehiring them before their no-compete clause even has time to run out.

Yeah, the evidence that the company is dumber and more chaotic than ever keeps adding up.

Joe was likely on a very expensive in-ring talent contract. They got out of that deal and are probably paying him much less for this new role. Yeah they could have tried to renegotiate the deal before releasing him, but maybe he wanted to see if there was a market for his services elsewhere and if he could get cleared to wrestle somewhere like AEW or Impact.

See, I don’t think that’s a given. They gave Joe all the leverage by releasing him then groveling back less than a month later because they don’t want him to go elsewhere. I’d be stunned if this new deal is more favorable to WWE than it is to Joe.

JOE: REEEEEEEGAALLLLLL I TOLD YOU TO GET BETTER SECURITY BUT YOU DID NOT LISTEN SO NOW I HAVE BECOME THE SECURITY. Joe: As the new GM, there's only one rule: GET DOWN OR LAY DOWN. I ain’t Billy Regal, so best believe I will slap fire out of anyone of you idiots. Any questions? Kross: Do you really think you're in Charge? Joe: According to your mother, yes! Now any NON-Dumbass questions?

I'd guess WWE fired him to get out of the contract and then rehired him for a cheaper rate.

Yeah, if this was a few months down the line and nobody signed him (A zero percent chance of happening but go with me here) then yeah, he’d likely be offered less of a deal but by all accounts, WWE dropped the ball and with the entire wrestling world open to him, they likely made him an offer he couldn’t refuse to not go anywhere.

...so why didn't that just happen in the first place? Like, if they didn't like Joe on commentary, why didn't they just send him to NXT to take some kind of role there? It makes complete sense if he does become GM and replaces Regal (considering the angle they were doing throughout the show) but the lopsidedness to get there is just weird. So they could re-sign him for less. I hate all of this. I hate that Joe went right back there after they threw him out, I hate that he's going to probably just be another face on TV that I'll never see because it's on WWE programming and he probably won't wrestle again except in one-offs, I just...I hate all of this. Every bit of it. f***.

I hated when they let him go so I'm happy that he is back in WWE. Good move for both parties.

Awesome to see Joe coming back to NXT, hopefully he has a few more matches left in him too. And if he’s not cleared to wrestle, I don’t think he’d be as interesting going somewhere like AEW.

I really, really don't see how some are just taking it as a given that this was a calculated move by WWE to release Joe, then sign him back for less.
There's no planet where NJPW, AEW, Impact, and ROH didn't at least put out a feeler to hire Joe. Even if Joe is going to be used in a mostly non-wrestling/part-time role, WWE literally just got outbid on two guys I think we all assumed were positioned as WWE lifers in Mark Henry and Big Show. Unless Joe just agreed to restructure his deal, because he was happy in the WWE and was willing to take less, there's just no way that Joe didn't come into these "new" negotiations with a huge amount of leverage that he wouldn't have otherwise had.

As to Joe‘s leverage, that really depends a lot on whether he’s cleared to wrestle or not. Can’t imagine he’d be getting a huge raise on his prior wrestling deal if he is still not cleared yet.
