Katy Perry’s Witness. “Chained to the Rhythm” was a big hit, but the entire album was just some sort of vanity project for a rich white women who seemed to have gotten the slightest realization of her privilege for the first time. And her performance in "The Happening" was awful!

I was going to mention "Blood in my Eye" from Ja Rule as that was released during the time when the Shady/Aftermath/G-Unit war with Murder Inc was going on. I mean this was still during a time that the way to hear some songs was through mixtapes (I heard some because my uncle provided me with some) or downloading songs (and having to worry about viruses; I mean like Limewire or Kazaa). However, it turned out that "Blood in my Eye" actually sold decently, as did "R.U.L.E." the following year.

I was going to say "Forever" by Puff Daddy but the album went platinum. It just seemed to underperform based on everything he touched for the previous two years was like printing money. I'm also willing to bet that Mr. Combs shutters each time a certain track with a certain R&B singer who is currently incarcerated on about every sexual charge imaginable. Then again, those rumors have been circulating for decades around R. Kelly.

I remember St Anger getting decent reviews at the time. At least by the U.K. press. But once everyone heard the album for themselves…yeah it quickly became the butt of all the jokes. I like Frantic & The Unnamed Feeling as songs but as a full album it’s unlistenable. I will forever consider that album to be one of my all-time favorites. Which is more than I can say for Lulu but I also cannot stand the music of Lou Reed.

Jewel- 0304. This gives me a good excuse to post Todd In The Shadows' excellent video about the album and why it was such a misstep for her. (Language Warning). Was that the her pop album that she later went back on and said was supposed to be satire?

How about that U2 album everyone with an iPhone got and no one wanted? I have it but never actually listened to it.

Did it actually bomb? I hope it did, just on principle. While it had its share of good songs, it also had Crush Em and Wanderlust.

Billy Idol-Cyberpunk Bad Religion-Into the Unknown Oh man I really want to see Todd In the Shadows do that Bad Religion album. When an album bombs so badly you call your next one "Back To the Known" as if to say "okay, that last album never happened"... (The only reason I could think of as to why he wouldn't is because all their success came after that.) Also drop everything you're doing and watch the entire Trainwreckords series. No, now. Tell your boss I said it was okay.

How about that U2 album everyone with an iPhone got and no one wanted? I have it but never actually listened to it. My wife, years ago, got in a car wreck and ended up with glass in her forehead. The surgeon who removed the glass listened to one song off that album, over and over, the entire procedure. Two hours. Same song, from that goddamn U2 album, over and over and over and over.

This one is definitely more of a "bombed artistically" kind of thing, but Dredg's "Chuckles & Mr. Squeezy" or whatever it was called. Dredg always made organic sounding albums, art-rock stuff, and this one comes out with that stupid title and really bad promotional videos, and it has maybe 3-4 salvageable songs and nothing else. The music was repetitive, the live drums went electronic, and it just felt FLAT and lifeless; the antithesis of what they were known for. I've never seen a fanbase do a hard 180 on a band before. It got such a poor reception that as of right now, a full decade later, they still haven't made a new album.

Also, it’s viewed much more positively now, and even though I enjoy it, Michael Jackson’s Invincible- at least at the time.
The sales shot up post-humosly obviously, but it got a mixed reception critically and it only went single-platinum (still the kinds of sales your average artist would kill for), way below MJ’s Thriller/Bad standard, which led to his Tommy Mottola fall-out.

Debatable definition of "bombed" there. Everyone hated they were forced to have it. It cost Apple and U2 a ton of goodwill. There’s other metrics besides money in the world.

For some reason Sirius XM got behind one song called ‘A Song From Someone’ really hard and even the non-music stations were forced to play it. It was fall of 2014 or winter 2015 and I don’t remember what was going on in the world but was there some huge need for a call of unity for something?

While we are talking rich privileged white women, Madonna's American Life and Liz Phair's third album... the one where she raps about her record company and uses the line, "You're being a penis... colada that is". Really, we should just get everyone of Todd in the Shadows Trainwreckord videos out of the way.
