Yeah I said before that Punk/Darby will close the show unless there was a surprise planned. If Danielson is debuting, then they can close with Omega retaining but still have the crowd leave happy with a Bryan debut as the show fades.

We are super close to whatever "surprises" that AEW has ready for tomorrow night. However, Punk again strongly hinted at Danielson arriving soon during his latest interview with Renee.
She asked him about any dream matches he'd like to have, and Punk paused for a moment to ask when the podcast would be released, as he didn't want to spoil anything. Then they just laughed and he basically spoiled it anyway saying that he wants to team with Bryan to face the Bucks. There was also a throw-in comment about facing Lucha Bros and Fuego in future matches, which was funny and awesome.

Fightful subscriber here. Key month: This January. It may also be why Kevin tweeted then deleted the coordinates to mount rushmore this morning.

I mentioned it in the WWE forum but Steen is as close to the Bucks and Cole (and Colr) as anybody in wrestling. Plus he has clearly been going going through the motions for WWE

I have to imagine it's gonna be super difficult to re-sign Owens... it's not that he's even been underutilized... he's just DONE EVERYTHING THERE IS TO DO in WWE. Like won literally every title he can win in NXT and WWE that would inherently matter to a career. He has a shot at being a future Hall of Famer. But he's just... stale. He's done so much that I think he's bored. I can hear it and see it in just how he's acting there at this point. I truly think he needs a change of direction while he still has prime years left. If he re-signs due to big money then I won't blame a guy who loves his family as much as Kevin does... but AEW surely could offer him a deal where he might not have to look back even if it's less. He's close to a lot of people there. Maybe even closer than Cole which is saying a lot. It's gonna be something to monitor very closely.

As close as the Bucks and Steen were it would surprise me if he doesn’t jump to AEW. His history with them would make it easy for him to jump right into an angle

I'm 100% all for AEW signing guys who have proven track records to be even semi-draws.. but I feel like so many debuts in such a short time is going to make them mean less and less as time goes on. There will always be that surprise pop when someone new comes in but like I've said plenty of times before, I really, really doubt AEW want to be the promotion where people debuting is the main focus/gimmick of the show.
Obviously anything AEW can do to put more eyes on them (in a positive manner) is welcome, but especially now, after a PPV where literally three people (excluding the NJPW guys) made their debut, it seems like it might be important now more than ever to maybe pump the brakes on the surprise signings. At this point, if they have to do another debut of some sort I feel like they should probably do vignettes like they did with Brodie. At least it would sort of mix it up some.

I mean we wouldn't see Owens until 2022... so he's not gonna sign even next month. So I think it'd be ok. They could literally debut him at Revolution.

Its almost if AEW can cherry pick anyone they want from the WWE roster and Vince is more then happy to give them the talent! Would be yet another great signing but I want AEW to try going for some of WWEs female talent,Io shirais contract can't be to long before it ends, Mia Yim would be one to keep an eye on and a few others!

I think they need to be careful not to set people’s expectations too high with debuts, but Owens is another no brainer signing if they can make it.

I think HHH would need to be put on a "keep out of reach of sharp objects" decree if AEW got Io Shirai after already getting Adam Cole...

You're right it was longer, but I wanted to save some stuff for fightful select. SRS goes more into it there.

only major factor for Steen is money. with him his family really does come first, so if WWE will pay him more money than AEW, even if it means him continuing to be underutilized, he'll stay
WHIP OUT THAT CHECKBOOK, TONY! FREE STEEN!!!
