Feels pretty nice to see the Rangers go home after that assault the other night. all other ranger fans seem to condemn that douche, but I can understand why the public would cheer against us for that. Anyway good season, but I think Gallant over thought the lineup tonight. Scratching Kakko and getting rid of the kid line was a mistake imo. Not saying we would have won but it eradicated any lineup depth we might have had.

I told me mom I had to leave the country so the Rangers lost. I did and they did. Nice to see that when I get back tomorrow

I'm not trying to group all Rangers fans together, I just didn't want that guy or the few who try to rationalize his attack to experience any happiness from this series. I don't think Kakko wpuld have made any difference, but it's def the wrong call and basically asking him to be disgruntled.

I'm not trying to group all Rangers fans together, I just didn't want that guy or the few who try to rationalize his attack to experience any happiness from this series. I don't think Kakko wpuld have made any difference, but it's def the wrong call and basically asking him to be disgruntled. Seriously, that was so incredibly dumb there. Kakko's been one of their better forwards during this run, and they want to risk pissing him off for, what, Reaves? The stats just keep coming out about Sheshterkin, and they're mind-boggling; he basically had a historic season + playoff run, something akin to '99 Hasek. Without him, the Rangers wouldn't have had a chance to even lose round one: they would've been a lottery team. The bright side for the Rangers is that they do have a good amount of youth on the roster and a few other prospects waiting in the wings. Also, having Igor in net, even if he can't replicate the god mode he was playing on this season, will mean they'll at least be competitive for playoff spots for the next good while. With the Penguins and Caps inching closer, inch by inch, to having their windows close more, they should be there in the Metro race moving forward. The down side: they're about to enter a pretty bad salary cap situation, and as of right now they're a flat-out bad team when it's even strength. They have an astounding power play and, again, they have a top level goalie, but 5-on-5 their possession numbers and ability to create scoring opportunities are, uh...really bad. You can't count on Kreider to have another 50+ goal season, they're going to lose some of the guys they acquired this season, and relying on both your goalie and power play to keep up the paces they were on for this year is a dangerous game to play. Also, man alive, the league has to do something about Lafrienere and Trouba basically attempting to assassinate other players on the ice with flying elbows. Laffy has made no friends this playoff run, which suits him fine, I'm sure, but he's painted a pretty big target on his back now. If he wants to justify it he has to keep winning puck battles (which he's good at) and generating actual scoring chances (which is he not, not yet, at least). All that said, Colorado/Tampa is the matchup I think most fans would want to see, assuming you have no immediate rooting interest: the Avalanche are the powerhouse of the league, Tampa is on the cusp of history, let's see a knockdown main event here. I think the only other teams that could've offered potentially better matchups might've been Toronto or maybe St. Louis; Colorado/Toronto would've been a spectacle, for sure, but the Leafs have anti-luck. Even with Kadri hurt and with Point likely returning soon for Tampa, I think Colorado's in the driver's seat here. Vas will be the big test for them, they haven't faced a goalie of his caliber yet, but Tampa, strong and smart as they are, are visibly getting pretty tired lately, have to think three years of runs like this is starting to take its toll, even with the shortened regular seasons in '20 and '21. So yeah, I'll say Avalanche in 6, but strong overall play in most of the games.

I'm dealing with a red-eye flight and a five hour time change, and I forget which one posted it, but it was a reliable Rangers beat-writer that said Kakko was out for disciplinary reasons and that's why Gallant wouldn't address it.
Larry Brooks also just reported that Kakko could very well be on the trade block now. Brooks wouldn't do that without knowing something behind the scenes was really bad and it's all but a conclusion now that Kakko is out. I wonder what the hell happened.
Kravstov also just signed for next year too; don't know if this is to replace Kakko or to make Kravstov easier to trade now that he's under contract. It's a one-way deal so either way he'll be in the NHL next year.

It was Vince Mercogliano (I don't know how to share screenshots) but his tweet was "Someone who usually seems to know told me that Kakko didn't play for disciplinary reasons. Must have been pretty serious. Gallant's reaction when questioned about it seemed like a confirmation of it." It has since been deleted. Still an interesting situation, and yeah, Brooks wouldn't have brought up an article like he did unless there's some type of fire to that smoke. It'll be interesting. Hoping the Avs win and can't wait for the draft.

Looking forward to tonight; Colorado really outplayed Tampa in a lot of ways in game one yet it stayed super close, so I'm curious what happens if Tampa gets their legs back under them. I didn't get to see any of game one, so I'm probably parking myself comfortably for this one.
ETA ...game 2 is tomorrow.

That was quite possibly the most lopsided hockey game I've ever seen.

Game 1 was pretty lopsided in everything but the score...last night was just a beatdown.

It was fun watching the crowd basically just celebrate all game and live in the moment of a prolonged ass beating.

I was pretty impressed by the Denver crowd singing Blink 182 and Lit a capella. Especially since I imagine a lot of them were drunk.

This series isn’t over until one of them loses at home.
Just want game four to be a close one again, let’s have another nail biter.

Colorado are a win away from the Cup after beating Tampa 3-2 in overtime. Nazem Kadri, who dressed for the first time since getting injured, got the GWG.

Tampa fans quite salty about that goal, feeling that Kadri was on the ice too early and there should've been a too many men call.
Rejoinder to that is, Jesus, Colorado had the ice completely tilted their way during overtime, they were likely winning the damn thing regardless.
Tampa losing a game at home now makes this series feel like it's just about done, even ignoring that a 3-1 series obviously could end at any time. Can't count the Lightning out completely, but they're starting to look a bit tired, and losing some of the depth they had last season isn't helping them. The Avalanche are just monsters right now, not I've seen a team with this capacity for domination in a long ass time.
