Wayne Rooney is England & Man United’s all time leading goalscorer.
Does he really need this?

Wayne Rooney is England & Man United’s all time leading goalscorer. Does he really need this? I'd say he kinda does. It's forcing him to sharpen his skills as a coach and manager, because he can't just go out and buy the best players, he's got to make do with what he already has. If he succeeds he will have learned a lot more than he would have if he just had money to throw at the problems, and if he fails it won't all be on his back.

Fully deserved three points for Villa today.
They completely outworked United. I thought John McGinn and Matty Cash were very good and Tyrone Mings did his job and controlled traffic.
As for United, that’s three losses in four matches. Sure, you can say the League Cup doesn’t really count because maybe only two members of the first-choice XI were involved, but losses are losses.
It’s not panic time yet, but there’s an incredibly tricky run of fixtures upcoming and I think this Villarreal match midweek takes on extra importance now. A team as talented as United shouldn’t have to grind out results, but they did at Wolves and last week against West Ham. At some point tactics are going to hafta be there, as well, because right now it seems like Ole is too reliant on individual talent to get the job done.
Today was red meat for the #OleOut brigade and I don’t think his job is in jeopardy, but when you have Zinedine Zidane and Antonio Conte sitting at home, I think you hafta start looking over your shoulder a little bit when the wins are starting to dry up.

Remember when Arsenal were bottom of the league and Spurs top?
Was only a month ago!
Great performance by Arsenal today especially first half. Felt like old times.

The gift that keeps on giving. Doesn’t matter how bad Arsenal get Spurs are always there to give us a laugh. So after 6 premier league games there are still 5 teams (Southampton, Newcastle, Leeds, Burnley & Norwich) who have yet to win a game. Surely this must be a record?

England World Cup winner Roger Hunt has died at age 83. He was also Liverpool’s all time leading scorer with 244 goals.
Only 3 men from that 66 starting line up are now alive (Hurst, Cohen & Bobby Charlton).

RIP to a legend for club and country My dad always says that Hunt never got the credit he deserved for his performance in the 66 final. His running off the ball and taking German defenders with him allowed Hurst to score the goals and rightfully take the plaudits.

PSG start Neymar, Mbappe & Messi v Man City hoping for a banger of a match in Paris.

I didn’t watch it and haven’t seen highlights as I’m avoiding the usual places online. Was De Bruyne’s tackle worthy of a red? Or was it correct to give him a yellow?

Sheriff Tiraspol just beat Real Madrid at the Bernabeu. Madrid looked toothless, that penalty they got was extremely soft. I'm thinking Sheriff might actually have a sponsor on their kit in time for the next matchday.

Sheriff’s winning goal was a banger as well. Good luck to them in this tournament they are already 5 points clear of 3rd place in their group.

That was a fast redemption for Lingard. Frustrating player at times, but it's good to see.

Barca are a shambles. Can they afford to sack Koeman though? They don’t have any pots left to piss in.

Barca are a shambles. Can they afford to sack Koeman though? They don’t have any pots left to piss in. Rumour is the only reason he's still in the job is because they can't afford to pay what he'd be owed if they shitcan him, much less hire anybody to replace him. The fact that he's still there after they were openly courting potential replacements over the summer before they had to ask players to take pay cuts just to offer a new contract to Messi and register their new signings does lend credibility to that rumour. Either they cannot afford to sack him or everybody they approached saw the mess they were in and said "No thanks." In wither case, I hope Koeman sticks it out and he isn't talked into quitting or otherwise giving up the money he's owed.

You would think Xavi would take the job and somehow makes the financial aspect work.
