For the number 1 ranked national team in the world Belgium sure do choke and never win anything a lot. The world rankings are pretty much meaningless, let's be honest. Belgium - like England - excel against teams at around their level and below, which racks up tons of world ranking points, but consistently fail against the cream of the international game, who themselves all seem to take a more relaxed approach against the majority of inferior teams, saving the big performances for when they matter most. Still, the concept that Italy, having gone unbeaten for several years and the current European champions are ranked fifth behind Belgium, Brazil, England, and France is laughable.

Couldn't really think of a "better" monkey paw wish than this Newcastle takeover if it happens today. So do this make them the seventh "Big 6" team within a couple years? Everton will now have to settle for 8th AT BEST, while usually around 10th or 11th. ugh.

Leeds get off the mark by beating Watford Despite going to my first Leeds game during the 1991/92 season. Today was the first time I’d seen them win a top division game in person. MOT, My first game was vs Moscow in late '99. Ive had a season ticket since 2006/2007 season... You know the season we went down to league one and Gary Kelly retired. I can still sometimes feel the mans hand on my shoulder, when he consoled me 😂🤣

The funniest thing I read today was Laporta hoping Messi would agree to play for free at Barcelona.
“Man, he’d still be playing for us right now if it wasn’t for those pesky European employment laws!”

what an amazing game for the scots!
0-1 and 1-2 down within half an hour we get a penalty that really wasn't but i MIGHT BE WRONG and it get's saved! the scot got the ball first and ballooned it over, but it was the lateness of the tackle that called it
second half we score a great goal, but hold the phone it's called a foul for high feet! except it's a CLEAN hit on the ball and it's only after a VAR that the ref gives it and rescinds the yellow card given!!! 2-2
then the injury time winner makes hampden explode in joy!!!

They just don’t get it. Cutting his salary by half was literally the most Messi could have done to stay at Barcelona. You cannot legally take a pay cut of anything more than 50%.

I saw those same sorts of comments and it’s crazy in a way because, well, even if it were legal, the players shouldn’t be the first people to have to work for free. Management should be the first to fall on the sword on getting them in this mess, would likely help the wage bill more. But yeah, it couldn’t be done legally and the fact it almost happened with a 50% cut in pay just showed how much Messi wanted to stay.

Farcically, France win the Nations League, beating Spain 2-1 with a goal from Mbappe that was checked and deemed onside because Eric García attempted to play the ball while Mbappe was half a yard offside.

I find it hard to argue that García's attempt to play the ball was not influenced by the run of Mbappe.

With a combination of their own 4-0 win over North Macedonia and Romania’s 1-0 win over Armenia, Germany are officially the first nation other than the hosts to qualify for the 2022 World Cup.

Denmark lock in a World Cup spot, marking only the second time in their history they'll be playing in consecutive World Cups.

holy crap those scotland highlights were PAAAAAAAAAAAAAAINFUL how the faroes didn't score in the first half i'll never know and where the hell did they get EIGHT added minutes to the game??? did an elk streak across the pitch or sommit ... there's a lot of relief in my head right now, still just need to get a win over moldova really, a point isn't enough as israel will beat faroes in the last game ... although a nice helping hand by austria in round 9 would be nice! group d is really tasty with ukraine finland and bosnia & herzegovina within two points of each other christiano ronaldo continues to be an eternal wales still in the thick of it after their win yesterday and with two games to go ... but they must win over belarus next before facing belgium in the last game! both irelands are mclunky'd should be interesting to see if england get to see some home fans in albania ...

There is nothing that anybody can say to convince me that Mo Salah is not the best player on the planet right now.

Wolves come from 2 nil down with 10 mins left to win at Villa.
Man U lose 4-2 at Leicester. Clearly jet lagged.
Burnley & Norwich still winless after Burnley lose at Man City and Norwich draw with Brighton.
But a first win for Southampton winning at home to Leeds.
