Just controlling like 5 on its own completely justifies these remasters and makes them pretty must-have.

Just controlling like 5 on its own completely justifies these remasters and makes them pretty must-have. With the changes listed it looks like they're at least partial remakes, but yeah, anything on top of the control upgrade is a bonus. I'm now pretty hyped.

Hopefully they'll also bring in some of the QOL improvements from Five such as mission checkpoints, I loved the old games dearly but even back then it was annoying as sin to have to restart at the beginning every time you failed a mission (especially the multi part ones.) and also having to go all of the way back to the mission marker just to try again.

One of the big things I'm hoping for is if they don't add a swim mechanic, at least make getting off of boats much easier than it is in the originals.
The shooting mechanics interest me, but I do wonder how that might affect the mission balance. Clearly the missions in the 3D era were designed with the original aiming mechanics, whereas the HD era games were clearly designed around having spots to take cover in and the like.

In Vice City, the boat mechanic was awful cause you had to be just right or else you pretty much drowned. Vice City Stories sort of creates a halfway solution where you can swim, but is reliant on a stamina meter and doesn't allow you to swim infinitely. I'm not sure how the HD Era mechanics can work, but III's shooting mechanics, even back in the day, were frustrating. It's for the best that the game is getting an improvement. Now, what I would like to see for both III & Vice City is the option to not have gangs immediately go guns ablazing the instant you step into their turf when you try and do incidental missions like Paramedic or Vigilante. I am fully aware that the point was how both protagonists had a habit of pissing off gang leaders, but it made for a frustrating time rather than a unique quirk showing how the game plot progressed.

Oh yeah, there can definitely be a middle ground between gangs not attempting retribution for you killing their leaders and your car immediately exploding when you waltz into Mafia territory. They could also toggle off gang attacks during certain missions or during sidequests. One of D-Ice's missions actually has this feature in the original, specifically the one where you have to get a bomb removed from his sports car in a garage located in Saint Marks.

The preference would definitely be just to add swimming. It'd be relatively pointless I guess but it would prevent some headache and I doubt it'd take much work to do it given the mechanic's already in San Andreas. Though they'd also need to add ways for you to get out of the water I guess which could end up being much more of a hassle.

For III and Vice City you could also easily put in the San Andreas system of being able to swim everywhere but having a six star wanted level if you go to a section you're not supposed to yet, you can still hold off on some progression in terms of the world. Throw in a small in story excuse for that, and you're good to go.

Ah yes, Vice City, where there were legit arguments about 'how come we can't shoot little children' on the old IGN forums before it came out.

Can we PLEASE get a remaster or at least PC versions of Liberty City Stories and Vice City Stories? It’s crazy that VCS never even had mobile releases.

Rather hoping they extend the soundtracks with these. Good songs among them, but San Andreas especially suffered from the game being too damn big and listening to the same stuff over and over, especially if you didn't like a chunk of the genres in the game.

They definitely could have used a retro 80s station but yeah I did get tired of all the rap and I don't have any problems with rap, I just don't want to listen to it all the time. It was like 60% of the stations were dedicated to rap while the other 40% were other genres that didn't really have that good of a song listing except for a few. I mostly listened to the news station cause I laughed at everything but hearing that one over and over again does get tiring too

You do realize there were more stations than just the rap stations, don't you? I remember reading the same damn complaints back in the 2000s how "there was too much rap" or "every station was rap." Only Radio Los Santos and Playback FM were the rap stations. CSR was R&B. I also remember some people even calling Master Sounds a rap station when that was old soul and jazz music. In fact, look at this list. Radio Los Santos - West Coast Rap Playback FM - East Coast Rap CSR 103.9 - R&B and New Jack Swing (the only rap song was "New Jack Swing" from Wreckx-n-Effect; That Johnny Gill song had a rap verse from CL Smooth, but that was it; As for "Don't Be Cruel," well, Bobby Brown used to rap in his songs) Bounce FM - Funk Master Sounds 98.3 - Soul and Jazz K-Jah West - Reggae and Dub Radio X - Alternative and Grunge Rock K-DST - Classic Rock (although some songs were a little newer than the rest) K-Rose - Country SF-UR - Techno and House WCTR - Talk radio Yeah, hardly "It was like 60% of the stations were dedicated to rap."

In San Andreas I pretty much only ever listened to the classic rock and country stations. In general with these games I tend to dislike most of the music, I'm not really someone who branches out in terms of genre much. If I'm playing 5 I've got it on either classic rock or one of the talk stations 90% of the time, mostly since the country lineup they went with is largely terrible.
Speaking of, I hope with the radio stations they update 3 and Vice City to be able to play the songs and radio clips randomly instead of them being one long audio file.

GTA III definitely needs this the most, ironically. At least Liberty City Stories made it so there were multiple artists on the radio stations, giving you some additional variety, while the original felt more like demo tapes, using only one artist per station in some cases. I think the argument back in the day was how GTA was a known series, but it wasn't "big" enough to warrant having all these licenses, whereas by the time Vice City came along, the franchise had established itself enough to justify not only affording the fees, but also using the soundtrack to situate the time period. It also would benefit if they were randomized and not formatted to a specific media file that plays on a loop, which is what they did in San Andreas. Also... and I am not sure if they will do this, considering this is one reason the game got delayed back in the day, but... any chance they can make the Dodo operational in GTA III? It was made defective partially to prevent sequence breaking, but more importantly, because the Dodo was meant to be used as part of an abandoned mission, "Love Hurts", which is how you would kill Donald Love. Then, 9/11 happened, and suddenly flying a plane into a building looked in especially bad taste, so the mission was instead replaced with "Love's Disappearance", that was just a cutscene.

In Vice City they should just replace any track they can't license with "never gonna give you up".

San Andreas is probably my favorite soundtrack in the series. So many classics on all of the stations.
