During today's press conference, it was started that NJPW are looking to add more matches to the card at this stage of the pandemic.
Thank God. A fuller undercard will really help with a lot of the current booking issues, allowing a lot of fat to trimmed from matches that don't need the time they are given.

I have no issue with a belt being the reward for the G1 winner. Briefcases look dumb being defended.

Last nights finals was like a game of corrupt a wish. “We want Shibata to return.” “Granted but, the G1 final will end on an injury.” A monkey’s paw if ever there was one

Hopefully lengthening the cards more means they finally bring in more talent as well to freshen things up. It’s a travesty that O-Khan was the last new guy to debut and that’s officially over a year ago. If you’re not counting Young Lions returning it’s Dick Togo well over a year ago. One or two free lancers in WTL or BoSJ would freshen things up so much if getting foreigners is still tough.

I guess I’ll be the one to say it:
The shorter cards with less matches are better, easier to get through, and have way less pacing issues.
I don’t want to go back to the days where a G1 show has ten matches and half of them are filler.

NJPW needs their whole roster
Imo stop loaning out your talent because they need to be there. The hope is that this all pays dividends come WK otherwise what was the point

Mikey Nicholls hasn't been seen in Japan for almost 20 months, is he still part of Chaos?

NJPW wants to have a stateside presence, and I guess they think that the Strong regulars alone wouldn't cut it. That being said, they have definite manpower issues even before Ospreay, Naito, and Ibushi got hurt. Maybe try to figure out who wants to play nice or what, if any, freelancers are available. Uhh, maybe get over TAKA banging a married woman and book him and his crew, something.

EVIL was getting the semi push and fans were receptive to the title change and willing to buy into him until they booked him poorly and not to his strengths They have the stars on the roster to push like KENTA, SANADA, Takahashi (Injury prone), etc to be big time stars. Hell, with Shibata back I would not be surprised if he gets a title run he looked poised to get before the injury Gedo has to get off his ass. Also yeah, the TAKA situation should be enough time passed to bring him up. With the way ZSJ is his hitting his stride again, TAKA adds a lot to his act

But yeah, Gedo's someone who I think sometimes gets a little too much pushback, but the pandemic and injuries have definitely shown that a weakness of his is that he does not wing it enough and stays the course sometimes too long. If nothing else, dialing back Dick Togo in EVIL's act would be wise.

Gedo will likely double down on him, Jado and Togo in matches and having that stupid trophy defended

The Yano/O-Khan match is a puzzling one. I have mixed feelings on if I'd want O-Khan to win that and be stuck with it or not.

Would be a good choice to soft reboot the thing into something a bit more serious. The Power Struggle card has 9 matches on it. I'd have gone for 8 personally, but I'm looking forward to brisk 10 minute undercard matches replacing Yano and Chase going near half an hour. Full card is here: www.njpw1972.com/106738
