Also again, Punk apologizing for anyone he's disappointed and saying he needed to go away to heal mentally/physically/spiritually suggests a HUGE amount of growth for the guy which I'm really glad to hear. The biggest moment to me. It wasn’t about WWE. He was apologizing. That is radical for him. I loved how the crowd even momentarily boo’d and he remained steadfast about it. f***ing inspiring.

Punk definitely had a sort of self-finding spiritual awakening the last few years. Because tonight alone he just gave off such a different energy... he looks like weights that he had wrapped around him finally snapped off.

Also it was really cool that one of the first things he did was shout out Britt Baker. In the moment it really came off like he actually knew the product and wanted to be there and it gave her a pretty instant rub by association.

I know we aren't supposed to bash another company on this forum, but what Punk said sums up how I felt after the Saudi deal. I couldn't remain a loyal fan and feel good about myself any longer at that point. Punk laid some hardcore truth down tonight, IMHO. That company nearly killed my love of pro wrestling about 4 years ago. AEW brought it back 2 years ago. Tonight, I felt like this was AEW saying to me, "We heard you loved CM Punk. Here he is. Thanks for supporting us." And I was like, "You son of a bitch, I'm in."

And especially right mentality for CM Punk to return to wrestling. And one may say... we are ALL IN

Is it safe to say that the opening notes of Cult of Personality have become the biggest muscle memory reflex for a crowd to pop since Austin's Glass Shatter, Rock's "IF YA SMEELLLLL-" or Daniel Bryan's opening violins to his WWE theme? I said that earlier this week on on of the Punk threads… “The opening riff of Cult is to Punk what the shattering glass is to Austin at this point” …so yeah. Totally. 10000% agree.

Gotta admit, it's stuff like that which makes me happy I've been a pro wrestling fan for 30 years. It was so amazing that the rest of the show felt a bit anti climatic, but they 1000% made the right decision to into him at the top.

I teared up because he was truly happy there. To me it wasn't about companies, enemies, fans, it was just about one man's happiness and peace with himself and in those moments you could see that he missed this and he was generally generally happy. I loved it. He didn't miss a step either, it felt like those last few years were knocked off him. I'm buying that new Punk shirt. Well i mean kinda haha If you re-watch it he had a heck of a time jumping back over that guard rail after jumping into the fans lol he even shakes his head in a smiling gasp...it was great

One thing I also wanna say? One of AEW's weaker points as a company in the onset was debuting talent. It's something they've improved on this year imo, but it was always something people would say about them. Just "Oh that debut could have been staged or sold better"
This was a perfect debut. Perhaps one of the best debuts for any company since WCW died. Everything from the beginning to the promo to the end... it was just a special moment not just for AEW but for wrestling in general.
Kudos to everyone who made it possible. From the top to the bottom. Producers to stage crew to the guy who hit the play switch for Cult of Personality. You all helped make a moment in time, and I thank you kindly for it.

Quite amazed that we didn't get any "early in the day" leaks online of him arriving at the arena and whatnot.

I can see people selling the wrapper successfully if the ice cream bars are only sold at this show ever lol

When he first started that bit, I clenched up and wondered if he was about to go heel on the crowd, but wow holy shit. That line is the biggest one for me by far.
