I wish I could share the enthusiasm, I’m happy to see him, but it would have been so much more interesting if he hadn’t mentioned the competition at all.
And I also wish they had picked someone else as his first opponent, especially with the accusations in the air.

Like I said in the Rampage thread, it has been a very, very long time since I had a big smile watching professional wrestling

I haven't watched wrestling since WrestleMania 36 but I figured I'd at least give this a peek in case he came back, it was super dope seeing him.

Those who know me on here know that, while I keep close enough tabs on it to know what is generally going on in terms of storylines and feuds and who the champions are... I don’t watch a lot of AEW. That said, as it turned out, I’d kept my AEW Pass subscription on FITE active, you know, just in case.
I’m glad I did, because with the buzz and the hype surrounding this, I had to watch this live. I got caught up in all the hysteria back in 2011 just like everyone else. Saw the show, bought the shirt, etc.
Dude just looked like the weight of the world was off his shoulders. Simple as that. And a CM Punk that is, and this may sound a bit melodramatic but it’s kinda true in a way, FREE, could be the most fascinating thing to watch in all of wrestling for the next little while. Something that I myself might have to make more of an effort to watch.
Will this turn the ratings on their head overnight to the point of Dynamite beating RAW in total audience? Probably not. But AEW has got this absolute tidal wave of momentum at the moment where it’s not completely crazy that it could happen within the next 12 months. Punk returning to wrestling could be just the start of that.

That was a wonderful pop...I still am a bit perplexed by opening with Punk but it worked...I think the segment did run long though

As I already mentioned in the Rampage live thread, I am absolutely gobsmacked that this is happening. Never in years have I been this excited about wrestling.
Punk even got emotional soaking it all in. I'm so happy that he was able to find his passion for wrestling again. I'm VERY interested in seeing what a rejuvenated Punk can bring to the table, because I feel like we're all in for quite the treat.

Was this the biggest return in pro wrestling history? The only that compare is the rocks in 2011

I’m so, so happy for him.
And we all get to enjoy it and go along for the ride. Love Punk. Love AEW. To the future from here on out.

That was one of the greatest moments in wrestling in the past decade. Without a doubt. I know that was hyperbole, but I don’t care. That was better than ANYTHING WWE has. When you hear that pop and that kind of passion, WWE is second rate next to that.
I know I’m excited and over the top, but I don’t give a shit. That was amazing.

I teared up because he was truly happy there. To me it wasn't about companies, enemies, fans, it was just about one man's happiness and peace with himself and in those moments you could see that he missed this and he was generally generally happy. I loved it. He didn't miss a step either, it felt like those last few years were knocked off him.
I'm buying that new Punk shirt.

The thing that really got me about the debut?
He looks so happy
Like... SO so happy.
I haven't seen that dude look THAT happy in a long time. Maybe ever in WWE even when he was at the peak there.
Everything just felt so sincere... from a dude who felt like his love of wrestling was dead and could never come back seven years ago... it just made me feel such joy seeing how fired up Punk was and is for this run.
This isn't gonna be half assed... this might be the most motivated Punk we've ever seen. What a hell of a thought.

Everything we expected and more. Great to see Punk back. One of the best nights for wrestling in a long ass time.
