I run Doordash for a living, four to midnight Mountain. I usually watch AEW at two in the morning. But I had to watch this live. I went offline, parked in a random neighborhood and watched Punk rock the house. Absolutely stunning moment.

I wish I could share the enthusiasm, I’m happy to see him, but it would have been so much more interesting if he hadn’t mentioned the competition at all. But he literally didn't even mention them by name. He was pretty damn nuanced about it and considering he almost kinda died? I think it had a ton of merit for him mentioning why he took a break and how he felt his love for wrestling felt like it died when he "left" in 2005. If literally anyone in this business had to bring up WWE in another company it was going to be and had to be Punk... it's literally the reason for all of this. The entire domino effect.

Just an amazing night. Just such a good night of wrestling period. Punk looked so refreshed out there too. That reaction was so good. AEW delivered tonight.

I've been pretty critical of AEW and will continue to be where warranted but this was the best piece of business they have done, ever. Now it's on them to follow up. They have the opportunity to just print money if they do this right and Punk is half as good as he was last time we saw him. That doesn't mean Punk vs. Moxley in three weeks or him around Omega by year's end. Draw this out and milk it for all it is worth, and then you can build everything else around it.
On a personal note, it was fantastic seeing Phil Brooks, the man, seemingly be the happiest I've ever seen him.
I won't lie, part of me wanted it to never happen just to see the shitshow that would ensue, but I digress.

I think Punk is a case where you HAD to let him go off about WWE for a little bit. The bitter circumstances of his abrupt leaving the business are such an integral part of his legacy that it would've been a cloud hanging over him if he didn't at least bring it up.

My first thought was, man he seems so happy, like genuinely happy. I know other people have mentioned it, but good for him. Be happy in life.

It's crazy with how popular Darby and Hangman are that the 20 minutes he was on screen already felt like he was the top dude in the promotion. Not taking anything away from anyone else, but dude is just special.

KENTA is calling him out right now on Twitter.
If New Japan wants to put their U.S. affiliate on the map, they need to make that match ASAP

How is this different than how WWE guys use to talk about the company down south or WCW guys always called the company up north? He didn't call them up by name. Its not that big of a deal IMO.

Just thinking of the potential match-ups/feuds Punk could be involved in makes me giddy with anticipation.
Punk vs MJF Punk vs Moxley Punk vs Omega Punk vs Jungle Boy Punk vs Malakai Black Punk vs Andrade etc...
And then there's the working relationships AEW has with other companies. The possibilities are endless.

It was all pretty emotional for me, two things hit me the most through all of this-- the 2766 Days sign, and his "I was never going to get healthy staying in the place that got me sick in the first place". Such a simple, impactful statement.

Anyone else notice that he was wearing a zipped hoodie with his dog Larry on the back?
That's just wholesome as F***.
