Better late than never. Sting's in fantastic shape. They'll be able to do some fun stuff together Also CM Punk and Sting are gonna work a program together and it isn't in WWE... tell someone that a few years ago...

My 2 cents regarding Punk referring to WWE. I understand people not liking Punk referencing AEW. Whenever someone does it we always see people who dislike it and everytime people are like "no it's ok because-" and honestly that'll never change. A lot of AEW fans just don't like people having their own opinion towards that, not everybody's gonna like it. I'm honestly thinking that we will never have a time where people let others' opinions ride out regarding that simply because people like WWE getting a shot at them. If there was ever a time where someone referenced WWE, someone said they didn't like it and people had no issue with it then shit, show me that on this forum. It's the same ol same ol and honestly it's lame to me. Everybody's got an opinion and that's one opinion that people are free to have regardless of others' opinions. Regarding Punk though, this is the one time where I personally didn't have an issue with any WWE references simply because his entire being this past decade's been associated with it. Unlike Britt Baker and a lot of other shots, this is embedded with Punk's history, he left wrestling because of them and to this day when you mention him you think of what happened with WWE. Him bringing up WWE now feels more complete and from a character perspective, from a story perspective and from a "Punk is finally healing perspective" it needed to be done. If he didn't it would be the elephant in the room and we'd be waiting for an interview to where he mentioned them. If people didn't like him referencing WWE, I understand because all those other references I thought were lame. Punk though, I'd actually be disappointed if he hadn't due to the fact that it's such an important part of him and wrestling. Punk wanted to heal tonight and honestly if he didn't reference them, he wouldn't have healed. He's good now. And just to add as well, you could take it as something different. Dude had so many years of anger and lashing out and sort of hid behind troll posts and different sort of things. Even the Colt lawsuit, by all accounts, came from a place of paranoia and anxiety (and whether that has been resolved between the two is, right now, none of our business but it’s a part of it) rather than anything genuinely done to each other. You can’t move on if you’re still keeping that anger. And whilst, yeah, the way he left WWE factored into that, there was that time when he wanted zero to do with pro wrestling period with very good reason.

I am curious to see if there will be any interaction between Colt and Punk.
Could make for a good feud down the road...

Is it safe to say that the opening notes of Cult of Personality have become the biggest muscle memory reflex for a crowd to pop since Austin's Glass Shatter, Rock's "IF YA SMEELLLLL-" or Daniel Bryan's opening violins to his WWE theme? I think I'd put Okada's coin drop as well.

In the media call they just did Punk said he hasn't had a problem with anyone backstage tonight so I'm not sure if Cabana was there or anything but either way, Punk seems like he's in a really good space. A different space. It really feels like there's 2 Punks. There's that one who was still feeling the pain of the WWE system and the one battling Colt Cabana in court and then there's this new one who looks like he's in his best mental state in years.
He's just done with the past. The fact he lost his love of wrestling and now he's back in love with it again ready to work with whoever says that. He's made a huge transformation.
The 10s was such a weird time for him.

The entire segment was great. Loved the fact his reasoning for returning (at least stated, I'm sure there is more to it) boiled down to "these young guys are killing it, I want to kill it along side them."
Now I really hope him and Colt reconcile. A Second City Saints tag title run where both Punk and Colt are finally together in a major promotion would make me cry.

I wouldn't even be shocked if he and Colt made up but just didn't make a big deal about it. Idk if they're like best friends again but I have to assume with Punk going to AEW they have at least seen each other up to this point. That's not an elephant in the room to ignore. Given how the crew were on stream a few days ago and a fan asked Colt about Punk and they all had a fun laugh about it... I have to imagine it's no longer the same situation as it used to be.

I know we aren't supposed to bash another company on this forum, but what Punk said sums up how I felt after the Saudi deal. I couldn't remain a loyal fan and feel good about myself any longer at that point. Punk laid some hardcore truth down tonight, IMHO.

Things are only going to get more interesting. It's why I'm also curious if the 10-12 matches a year thing is true or gonna stick... I just haven't seen Punk this passionate about wrestling for a long time. He seems to juiced to get the f*** out there again. Punk in a New Japan setting would be WILD. Especially since when he went on a Japan excursion when he was younger he was told "You're too big to be a cruiserweight and too small to be a heavyweight" lol.

Also again, Punk apologizing for anyone he's disappointed and saying he needed to go away to heal mentally/physically/spiritually suggests a HUGE amount of growth for the guy which I'm really glad to hear.

I'm gonna go out on a limb here and say that's not a completely solid rule... it's just a rule of respect to not make every single thread about comparing or dunking on the other company. I think posts that merit it are fine. And there's nothing wrong with saying you felt he was right imo.

Considering how things were that's good news.

Punk's promo spoke to me on a visceral level and I felt the need to share. I've said my piece.
