The only way that Roman is losing between now and WM is if the Rock told them to f*** off. I've been kind of thinking that they have Rock cost Roman the belt against Big E at Survivor Series. I sure hope so, because for Roman to hold the title all the way til next year's WM, only to drop it to the f***ing Rock would be deflating. Then if he wins, he's just still got the title, and has been champion for a billion years. Survivor Series is his best spot to drop it. The guy's having the best run of his career, and could give the rub to someone else with how strong he's been booked. Plus the Rock vs Roman doesn't need the title. |

What a…weird thing to tack on after weeks of worked shoot nonsense.
It’d be like if the first Cena/Rock had the stip of “If Cena lost, he can’t challenge for the WWE title”. Like, what does that have to do with anything?

After tonight, it doesn't feel as though Summerslam matters a hill of beans.
The Universal title match will be the level of fustercluck that will strain everyone's patience, and will probably draw CM Punk chants throughout. That briefcase will be the sideshow that brings on all the overbooking.

It probably doesn't make a lot of difference either way, so I get why they'd try to gild the lily like this, even if I don't get why Roman would agree to it.
If Cena loses, he loses, nothing changes.
If Roman loses, he'd likely be gone, anyway, to sell it for a bit. So, he'd be gone a month or two, maybe more, and the Delta variant talk of course has been mentioned, which makes sense given the leukemia.
I doubt Roman's losing, but if he does, I guess Cena does really like Big E, so maybe Big E would cash in for them to get a match together, passing the torch, but I remain skeptical.

They must have something wacky planned or they wouldn’t seemingly give away the finish.
I choose to believe they’ve landed the Rock. They gotta counter Punk, somehow get to Roman/Rock and make something memorable happen.
So that’s prediction. Rock is showing up tomorrow.

The build to this match has sucked.
You have a mega dominant heel and a returning mega babyface who is the biggest star you've created in the last 15-20 years. This should have been an easy feud to book and instead it's been filled with stupid worked shoot crap, that weird detour with Finn Balor that made Cena look a bit of a dick and now this huge stip tacked on with 5 minutes left of the go home show.
Just a mess.

Wait, they really added that to the match? I mean, he ain't losing so I'm not interested but if he is losing then f***, that'd be so damn interesting lol. The nonsensical thing is that ROMAN added it to the match. Cena seemed perfectly content just fighting, then Roman said if he doesn't leave as champion he'll leave permanently. Why would he do that to himself without getting anything extra from Cena? Yeah, that’s what I found weird! Roman: if I lose I’m out of a job Cena: ...and?... Roman: That’s it! |

As an aside, I saw a promo for Summerslam on Facebook showing Reigns vs Cena. Michael Cole describes it as "two huge stars in the prime of their careers!"
The first point is undeniable, but the second make me choke on my own laughter.

I don't think Cena's ever won a world title at Summerslam. Certainly retained it at the event, but it's the one in the big four where a win's never happened.
