Probably just a bizarre gimmick being tacked onto the match for no real reason, but there is a part of me wondering if this has to do with Delta flaring up. Granted, making people think that way is probably the intention behind the gimmick since no one's buying that Cena was winning anyway, but if that is indeed the intention then trying to drive up uncertainty in your main event by making people wonder on a metatextual level if the heel is concerned about his health in the face of a deadly pandemic is certainly a choice.

Another weird thing as they're putting CM Punk vs. Cena at MITB stuff into it with Cena saying he's gonna leave with the title (except with a different vibe as he's literally saying he's gonna be a part time champ if he wins) and now the company champion will leave if he loses the belt to the guy leaving.

Another weird thing as they're putting CM Punk vs. Cena at MITB stuff into it with Cena saying he's gonna leave with the title (except with a different vibe as he's literally saying he's gonna be a part time champ if he wins) and now the company champion will leave if he loses the belt to the guy leaving. Which, of course, had a stipulation where if Cena lost, he would be fired, which was nullified the next night because plot convenience. |

They're recycling that same story in a cheap attempt to draw ratings. Unfortunately for them, it's not going to have the same effect.
Not shitting on Cena vs heel Reigns because I do believe it was a feud that had a ton of potential behind it. Just that WWE took the wrong approach in booking it.

The ONLY reason I think Cena has a chance is because they just fired Ric Flair. Petty WWE wants to set the 17 time champ record before Ric goes to AEW or something.

I really wish Vince was more willing to work with other promotions, because I'm imagining something where Roman loses, then shows up on Dynamite next Wednesday to sell it.

The only way that Roman is losing between now and WM is if the Rock told them to f*** off. I've been kind of thinking that they have Rock cost Roman the belt against Big E at Survivor Series. |

The nonsensical thing is that ROMAN added it to the match. Cena seemed perfectly content just fighting, then Roman said if he doesn't leave as champion he'll leave permanently. Why would he do that to himself without getting anything extra from Cena? |

Cena isn't sticking around to defend, only way he wins is if Big E/Corbin (I've lost track who has it) cashes in and I'm not sure how that would work.
