Oh boy I have a ton, I think the two biggest ones people rag on me for is that I've said in the past Bring It On is a better movie than The Godfather and that I despise Bill Murray in most films

I don't think it's much of an unpopular opinion anymore but The Cable Guy was damn funny. I think part of the problem people had when it came out is that Carrey's character and the movie itself were a little darker than people were expecting coming off of his run of silly movies/characters I remember the ads for it making it out to be Ace Ventura: Cable Guy so people went in expecting that. But yeah watching it now its a solid movie

The only good Nightmare on Elm Street films are 1,3, and New Nightmare (though 4 and 5 do have some memorable moments). In a similar vein, while the original was gritty and dark and etc, it was the more surreal and campy films that had the moments that horrified younger me. The fact that Freddy got overpowered such that he could change environments and even people if he got close enough to them made the nightmares seem, well, more like nightmares. Moreso since Freddy used said abilities to make killings customized by what the victims are afraid of.

Will never see Fight Club. The jock overtones makes me want to gag. That's... a really bad reason not to see it. - Sincerely, someone else who hates jock overtones Seriously, Fight Club is a really interesting film that is not done justice by its memes Yeah that post was definitely from someone who has heard morons talk about it who missed the point It is a bit like saying you aren't seeing Sky Captain and the World of Tomorrow because of its far too high Angelina Jolie content

I think Blade Runner 2049 was better than the first film.

This is the greatest soliloquy in movie history: I honestly think Conan's prayer to Chrom might be one, if not the best, bits of acting Arnie has done.

Just recently watched Star Trek: The Motion Picture again, and I think it’s seriously underrated. Yes, it’s really slow, but I think it’s probably the most visually stunning Star Trek movie ever, even more so than the new reboot ones. And the story is great and different from some the more action oriented ones. And the soundtrack is the best one from any Star Trek movie, and that’s saying something considering how many great scores the movies have.
I do agree there were flaws with it, because the original script was supposed to be a one hour pilot for a new Tv show that didn’t happen, and they had to stretch it out and write the script as they were filming, and it definitely shows. And it isn’t as good as the next three movies and Star Trek VI. But I still really love that movie.
Also to add, people criticize the scene for grinding the movie to a halt, but in a vacuum, the scene of Captain Kirk seeing the refit USS Enterprise for the first time, is one of the best scenes from any Trek movie, and I will die on that hill.

The older I get, the more I appreciate and enjoy it. And it's really the only Star Trek movie that is purely science fiction. Have you been able to watch the director's cut, with the polished visual effects and all that?

But seriously, yeah, it's a really good scene by itself, reintroducing both Kirk and the audience to the Enterprise in detail that had to have been mindblowing in 1979 with only the low budget model from the TV show as a frame of reference. Still, even in a vacuum, it's a damn near six minute effects shot of a shuttlecraft slowly approaching its mothership. A little trim here and there for pacing wouldn't have hurt.

Jaws The Revenge isn’t entirely bad.
It still has some pretty terrifying scenes in it.

I liked Superman IV. I liked Supergirl too.
Give me a hundred showings of Batman and Robin to replace anything Snyder.
Batman Forever started getting more things right about the Batman/Bruce Wayne character than the Tim Burton films did.

I also like Melissa McCarthy and think she has talent/seems like a lovely person. Despite her tendency to get typecast (and I even like some of those typecast roles!)

Here's my hot take: NOES 2 is probably the best movie all around other than the first one. Mark Patton puts in a great performance as a young man slowly losing his mind. Honestly it's probably one of the most realistic takes on how a teenager would deal with being in a horror movie. It's a lot more than its reputation would have you believe. I mean, yeah, the movie is gloriously gay but I think because of that a lot of people don't really give it a chance

On the positive side, though, NOES 2 is finding its own fanbase in the LGBT+ community. A lot of people have taken to viewing it as being about someone very deep in the closet trying to come to terms with their sexuality.

I like how the "black sheep" of certain franchises are finding audiences who are discovering their merits (i.e. also, Halloween III)

I think Blade Runner 2049 was better than the first film. The fight between Gosling/Ford and the finale badly needed to be trimmed or recoureographed, but other than that I agree.

Low key, Stallone’s 1986 movie Cobra is one of the all time action classics of that decade. Critics tore it apart because it wasn’t as emotional as First Blood, but Cobra preceded the streamlined and simplified brand of shootout romp you’d see years later with stuff like John Wick.
