I think part of the problem people had when it came out is that Carrey's character and the movie itself were a little darker than people were expecting coming off of his run of silly movies/characters The side storyline with Ben Stiller as the twin murderers felt creepier to me. Part of me thought “yikes, let’s get back to Jim stalking Simba.” That was kinda the idea though.

The only two Adam Sandler movie I've enjoyed were "Airheads" and the remake of "The Longest Yard", I've tried to watch "Waterboy", "Billy Madison", "Happy Gilmore" and I can't get more that 10 minutes in because I can't stand the guy. I’m almost with you, but Happy Gilmore is great. Also like Big Daddy, it grew on me. Want to know why I watched it? Because during the credits, the “new” Guns N’ Roses played Sweet Child. Yup. Watched a whole movie for an old song in the credits.

I like Attack of The Clones, it's one of my favorite Star Wars films.
I liked the Wild Wild West film, for me it's goofy fun.
I liked the Matrix sequels.
I enjoyed the 2004 Dawn of the Dead as much as the original.
My least favorite of the Nolan Batman trilogy is Batman Begins.

I liked the Matrix sequels. I still love the second one. The freeway chase is a classic action scene, the confrontation between Neo and The Architect is amazing, and it ends on this amazing cliffhanger with Agent Smith finding a way into the real world and Neo in the clutches of this insanely powerful program. Third one starts with the anti-climax of Trinity and Morpheus extorting the Merovingian and goes downhill from there. Hope the reboot is good.

I never got the hate for AotC, if only for the action packed third act, which included the iconic Yoda fight scene. I didn't care much for the first Matrix movie, the twist is a decades old scifi trope. But the second and third? Loved them. I also enjoyed the 2004 Dawn of the Dead, moreso than the original. I think that if it wasn't for who directed the 2004 version, it wouldn't be nearly as unpopular.

I never got the hate for AotC, if only for the action packed third act, which included the iconic Yoda fight scene. The stuff with Obi-Wan investigating the clones and the third act are fine. Good, even. The wretched love story that dominates the middle of the movie drags everything else down. Written and directed by a man who cannot write dialogue and cannot direct human performances, and acted by two people who had negative chemistry together and looked embarrassed to be delivering such abysmal lines.

On the flip side, the climax is pretty much the only time Padme gets to look really cool and competent, so that's something. Also, Christopher Lee.
(Alas, dooku.net, you were too beautiful for this world, or at least modern internet standards.)

I'll carry this one over...
Back to the Future 3 is a good movie too.

The 1996 Romeo + Juliet movie is the best onscreen version of Romeo & Juliet. Yep, I like it more than Zeffirelli’s.

Tad Trenton should have been snuffed out, just like in the book. Brian Rusk too. Gore is 1000 times better than what I can imagine. Will never see Fight Club. The jock overtones makes me want to gag. There really is no reason not to see the Twilight franchise once. Leia in a white winter jumpsuit is way sexier than her in the bikini. The big battle climaxes in comic book movies always drags the quality of the film down. Ang Lee's Hulk's awesome comic book panels should be used in all Marvel films. The worst Friday the 13th is part 9 Jason goes to hell; after the first scene where the United States government obliterates Jason its all downhill boring kills, boring story, boring characters, you rarely see Jason since he's body snatching and the worst part is the stupid bloodline bs. It's funny because my unpopular opinion is that I think Jason Goes to Hell is underrated. I think it's pretty frequently listed as the worst in the franchise. It's such a weird ass movie, but at least it take some chances in freshening things up. It also finally gives us a glimpse into Jason's impact on the town of Crystal Lake itself and the country at large instead of him just being the stuff of campfire tales. Same for Freddy's Dead with Springwood being a ghost town. I don't think it's much of an unpopular opinion anymore but The Cable Guy was damn funny. I think part of the problem people had when it came out is that Carrey's character and the movie itself were a little darker than people were expecting coming off of his run of silly movies/characters The stupidity of Brodericks friends and family is absurd.

(cheating just a little)
The 'Congratulations' Ending of Evangelion is the only one we ever needed. Plus all of the fan made free doujinshis are better than the entire rebuild series.

Hmm let me see..
I much prefer the Tim Burton Batman films over the Dark Knight trilogy. I used to think that was just nostalgia talking, but I honestly think they are just way funner and cooler looking.
Batman Forever is a really fun movie and is too overhated.
I'm an absolute wussy when it comes to horror films, but The Exorcist did not scare me at all when I saw it. Granted, I can see why it was considered so scary when it came out. But I also found it so slow moving.
Harry Potter is my favorite fantasy franchise.
I have no interest in watching any of the current Marvel movies. I miss the Tobey Maguire Spidey films. That cast and directing was perfect.
Someone mentioned the Thomas Jane Punisher film, I too enjoy that movie.
Scarface is boring.
Probably not unpopular, but Goodfellas and Casino are the best gangster movies there is imo. I love De Niro and Joe Pesci.

Since the thread has taken a bit of a horror tangent, I'll add this: Hereditary is overrated.
Toni Collete is great in it, I'll give the movie that. But I thought Hereditary worked so much better during its first half when it was about the family falling apart in the face of tragedy, before all that ridiculous shit about the cult took over the plot and dragged it down. And the kid that plays the son is an absolutely dreadful actor, too.

If we’re talking cult classic gangster movies, speaking as a Scarface fan, stuff like King Of New York, A Bronx Tale and New Jack City are better and arguably more intense at points.

That's... a really bad reason not to see it. - Sincerely, someone else who hates jock overtones Seriously, Fight Club is a really interesting film that is not done justice by its memes. There really is no reason not to see the Twilight franchise once. I did consider putting Vampire Baseball Is Awesome in my own post.

Up has a beautiful, emotional montage to start and it has a sweet ending but everything in between drags.

This 100% that family dinner scene filled me with dread, anxiety and fear. The cult stuff literally had me laughing out loud in the theater when meemaw was Spidermaning around the walls of the house

Up has a beautiful, emotional montage to start and it has a sweet ending but everything in between drags. The opening from when young Carl is in the theater, to the part where the house starts to fly away and he’s all happy yelling out the window, that’s an amazing fifteen minute short. I’d give that the Oscar. The story after he’s in the air is just fine. Not terrible, but there are Pixar films I enjoy way more.
