Also. My thought was that Cage was going to be on the road to teaming with CM Punk. They both have unresolved issues with Team Taz. It gives Cage the backup he desperately needs and then probably allows him to get big wins. With CM Punk being behind him. Like the obvious setup is Punk stops Team Taz interference in the Starks rematch right? I couldn't have been the only one to think this seeing Brian lose via getting beaned by the FTW belt TWICE. That's a clear setup to him getting a friend.
Like if that is actually what happens with Cage... these statements are gonna age f***ing terribly lmfao. There really isn't a much better position to be than being with CM Punk in a feud right now. Because a lot of eyes will be ON you. And that would very much be Cage getting used properly.

Maybe give him Jade Cardgills manager.
Maybe have him be the one to take out Christian for his belt.

Something else I just thought of... he was LITERALLY just announced to be getting an action figure.
Like... that's also a big deal and shows the company sees you as a long term asset. Seriously Brian Cage is really not a talent I look at and think he's currently misused...

He’d be better in WWE. He’s good but with so many huge names in AEW right now I don’t ever see him in a big spot in AEW. Look at his build in the WWE, look at his present day build then ask yourself, 'Does this look like a man who can pass wellness?' He looks like a beast in AEW, impact and Lucha underground as he's put up alongside smaller guys, in WWE, he's a 6 foot guy in a company heading in a direction where that would be considered the minimum and nearer to 40 than 30. That leaves only his moveset, and he isn't keeping that.

WWE actually had him on a developmental contract back in '08. They fired him in September of '09. Not sure they'd want him back. Yeah, and they were wishy washy about bringing him in 2018 for a tryout. Johnny Ace flat out had told people he didn't like Brian Cage's attitude. Tony Khan signed him when he was injured, and paid him for 5 months as he healed. Brian Cage pinned Hangman Page. He was the centerpiece of Team Taz. And IMO he deserved none of it. I didnt like when they signed him, because I knew he would be trouble for them one day, and here it is. Yeah it's starting to look this way. Imagine a wrestler being upset about his spot. When he's had world title feud with Mox in summer 2020. Wrestled against Sting/Darby and Hangman Page on ppv in 2021. Even now it's not like he's sitting in catering. He's in middle of feud against Team Tazz and Ricky Starks. With them setting up a match in near future this past week and that he's likely going to get revenge and win. Yes the feud has been bit slow due to Starks neck injury. But in the meantime he was still working Dark/Elevation and being showcased as a monster. Now if he was really Brock Lesnar and came to AEW and used like this. Well then maybe he would have a point. But the guy came over as the top guy on Impact when they were on Pursuit channel. Who when he was World Champion was hurt most of the time. He came into AEW in a good spot and still in good spot. He's not earned or shown he deserves anything more. I get that the guy wants to be famous and big star in wrestling. So he's disappointed he's not being used as a top guy. But he's became total mark for himself and being really selfish. Seriously the guys protected uppercard wrestler who's in super hot company right now. That's top rated show on TNT and selling tickets like crazy. He should appreciate what he's got right now and try to earn better spot. Being entitled thinking I deserve better spot. When he's not top merch seller or been top ratings draw or most over guy in the crowd. Well really makes him come off as selfish. Acting out on social media. Because you start to realize oh shit I'm never gonna he top guy here now. With them adding all these people and thinking he needs to get movement behind him if anything will change. We'll it's clear that totally backfired on him. Again he needs to realize he's got it good and if he wants more he needs to earn it. Braun Strowman can't even get a job with AEW. I'm sure he would love to get hired and be put in Cage spot. With so much talent available this isn't the time to complain about not being main event guy. Saying I'm misused as uppercard talent.

That said, I like what someone said about teaming him up with Punk to take down team Taz. If Melissa hasn't f***** that up.

I kinda feel bad for Brian Cage. he came in with a lot of fanfare and it looked like he was going to be a big player in AEW. then he just got overshadowed by all the other acquisitions that started falling into AEW's lap that were all bigger deals than him. Just terrible timing.

I think the issue with Cage is that while he is a bigger guy and can still do impressive stuff I don't feel it looks as consistently impressive as it did in LU or even Impact where he did physically stand out. I feel like he is there people then he will do something impressive that pops the crowd but then cannot follow up for whatever reason.
Of course Brian Cage proving to be somewhat of an idiot on social media probably doesn't help

Just terrible timing. He's still been featured on Dynamite more often than some AEW superstars. For example Joey Janela hasn't done anything major on Dynamite in ages. Having said that they did show his heel turn on Sonny Kiss a few weeks ago, but neither of them have been featured on Dynamite since then. And speaking of Sonny Kiss he was one of the first people that they signed, but he has never been featured in any major storylines.

I think with Sonny, he's been rarely around largely due to wanting to complete his college degree. Though, I think he's returned on Dark recently to continue his feud with Janela.

Dunno if similar conversations are happening anywhere else, but it sure feels like Santos's complaints are mainly making people stop and think about whether Cage should be used better...and generating a whole lot of reasons why the answer is "not really." Because the next logical step is to ask "OK, well, who is getting pushed right now that should be moved aside to allow for more time for Cage?". And the answer to that is nobody, at least as I see it. So he's just gotta sit tight. First thing that pops into my head is that they could fire up the trios title and have him be a leader of a team in that division He’s definitely good enough that he shouldn’t just be the muscle mook in a team, but he shouldn’t be a top guy either

I was not expecting someone to say that he should be more grateful of what AEW gives him.
Like…dudes who were consistently pushed world champions are leaving WWE. People have their own issues and opinions on their situations and what they want.

I thought Punk/Cage vs. Starks/Hobbs was a given in the near future with everything going on. If teaming with Punk isn’t good enough, and he wants the Hardcore Holly world title push, then maybe there’s no pleasing him. Again, I’m no fan of the guy, so Starks sending him packing with another loss is fine with me. Also, I don’t see WWE as an option. Have a feeling Cage would go to give a urine sample for wellness and melt the cup. This reminds me of something that happened at DC Comics years ago. Renae De Liz had this awesome Wonder Woman alternate continuity series going...and then her husband (and inker) mouthed off on Twitter about a Wonder Woman side project with a premise similar to one of her pitches being done by a different creative team. (Never mind that De Liz's alternate continuity was empirically a bigger deal than that side project, which made the whole thing look petty.) It's the sort of thing where he wasn't wrong, per se, but complaining about it on Twitter was a Bad Look. It's the sort of thing where it's a fair view from a fan, but just plain tacky coming from a coworker who's doing quite well regardless. This resulted in the cancellation of De Liz's Wonder Woman continuity, something I am enduringly salty about. Off-topic, but I worked with Renae before and after Ray was in the picture. That dude is a control freak and honestly worries me as a human being that cares about other human beings.

I want to see him versus Omega at some point. I think that'll be the match that gets folks (other than Melissa) talking about him again.

Big difference here is that Excalibur got convinced to do it by Human Tornado, has consistently regretted it and publicly said he regretted it, and even took time off when it was brought up recently. He also hasn't come close to repeating that behavior since he said it over a decade ago. Frankly, a lot of old school PWG material is horrid. Cage... Less so. He just got into twitter arguments about it. Unfortunately for Cage and Santos, a bunch of people have receipts for the less than stellar social media antics both have done.
