So the reason for AEW's decline in attendance is too many black people? I was about ask what point they were making too

Actually 6 The Rock, Booker T, Mark Henry, Kofi, Big E and Bobby Lashley. Rock, Kofi, Big E and Bobby won the WWE Championships while Booker and Mark won the World Championship. Should be pointed out that Rock, Kofi, Big E and Bobby all had their reigns ended by Brock Lesnar too. There's also the ECW title and NXT's, though that really only adds a couple of names like Ezekiel Jackson, Carmelo Hayes, and Trick Williams. Most of the others, like Big E, have won one of the main roster world championships. IF its gonna be like that Im gonna add the math FOR EACH SHOW so its not a black champion for a period of 8 year,is much bigger! But I would need to add for how long sd/ecw/ nxt were active and thats too much work for a joke

I remember a joke that a Black friend told during the 80s :
"I have known for years that Pro Wrestling is fake. You know why? ALL THE WORLD CHAMPIONS ARE WHITE!
Come on, man! We dominate all sports, but not Wrestling? PLEASE."
That has always been the problem with Pro Wrestling. Most promoters were catering to White fans. That began to change in the 90s, but it is something that is still a work in progress.

This is certainly one of the more, uh, interesting ways to shoehorn in the "yeah, well, AEW is putting on mud shows in bingo halls while WWE is cooking™" narrative to a conversation where it's pretty clearly irrelevant that I've seen...

I'm not even going to engage with the question of if black champions draw, as that doesn't even merit discussion.
Instead, I'm going to focus on how great Swerve's title reign has been. Every match has been an absolute banger, and he's genuinely felt like he is the best wrestler in the world with a pack of great and hungry challengers chasing him the whole time. It's felt organic, it's felt right, and hopefully this is the first of many title reigns for Swerve.
Honestly, I think Swerve's road becoming the champion has been the most organic example of a mid-card guy growing into a main event superstar since the days of Steve Austin, and hopefully AEW learns from this success and just keeps letting people do what the crowd loved them for to begin with and let that make them a star instead of trying to force things.

That began to change in the 90s, but it is something that is still a work in progress. And they just kept giving black wrestlers demeaning gimmicks. The closest black superstars in that era was either The Rock in the late 90s or Ahmed Johnson in the mid 90s. Ron Simmons maybe in the early 90s but his push petered off after his world title run in WCW and got bad gimmicks in the WWF

Swerve is crushing it. Like his promo last night was soooo good. And even the way he just walks to the ring screams star. I was worried he was going to feel like a mid card champ. He's competing with some big names with undercard belts but he's held his own and legit feels like the biggest star on the show for me.
I get giving Danielson the belt, he's retiring and you won't get another chance to do this again but I think it's imperative that Swerve takes the belt back off him at Wrestle Dream. Swerve as champ still has lots of legs left in it and Swerve losing it but getting it back AND retiring Danielson in the process is pefect

I mean there's a reason that the movie The Great White Hype was a thing, at the time the movie came out the closest thing there had been to a white Heavyweight champion in boxing since the 60s was Tommy Morrison, and the WBO title barely counted. It wasn't until like 4 years later the Klitschko brothers killed the meme that the idea of a white World Heavyweight champion was implausible.

AEW/ROH now has 3 Black Champions. No Black wrestler had a match at WWE SummerSlam. Need I say more? However WWE is currently packing large arenas while AEW is doing shows on E sports venues. Apples and oranges but my point is this, WWE apparent lack of diversity hasn't hurt them in any way. You could almost argue the opposite. To be clear I'm very much in favor of the diversity AEW has going on atm. Your mask fell off when you made this post. Please pick it up when you have a chance.

What the hell is even going on in here from the last few comments from last page
To discuss Swerve, I find his run a little lackluster. Matches have hit but the feuds have been meh ala Hangman Page title run. Don’t mind either way if he keeps the title or not vs Danielson but at least being champ is step in right direction

I knew Swerve had it, but seeing him carry himself in and around the rest of a very star studded cast of pushed wrestlers has been massively vindicating. He's not Ospreay's also-ran and he's not in anyone's shadow, putting on great matches, killer promos, oozing presence and credibility everywhere he goes. Swerve is too good for AEW to have ignored; I don't know if his being champion is breaking any glass ceiling or changing anything in the long term, because he could never have been anywhere but where he is right now. Dude was snatched up by WWE specifically to keep him from being a day one guy but he came in with like zero "WWE cred" and still managed to jump over most of the vetted future star day one guys to shine. He's next level. Anything happening on a business level with AEW is inconceivable as like, the fault of Swerve on top or the quality of his programs, because he's killing it, and you don't hear much as far as like, major problems with it that are driving anyone to tune out. A black champion isn't hurting AEW's business.

Your mask fell off when you made this post. Please pick it up when you have a chance. I wish I had the faintest idea of what you're on about. He's saying that you made a post that can only reasonably be interpreted as "AEW is currently booking black wrestlers better than WWE, but WWE's crowds are getting way larger and AEW's are shrinking, so obviously having a black champion is hurting AEW's attendance." Following that up by saying it's "apples and oranges" and that you "support AEW's diversity" doesn't change the clear message of what you said. You were correct, AEW's purported attendance issues, truly, is an "apples and oranges" issue as compared to its booking of minority wrestlers. I know the urge is impossible to resist sometimes, but this was not the thread to pop in and tell us how WWE's is cooking™ while AEW circles the drain. That's not remotely true but, even if it were, it has absolutely nothing to do with this conversation.

Swerve's title reign has been awesome IMO. Not a bad match nor storyline.

It's just not worth it. In regards to Swerve nah, the run has been lacking something for me. Like, I don't feel he's the world champion if that makes sense. He's got the belt but it doesn't feel like he's where he was prior. While yeah him being champion is, like you said, a step in the right direction, there's just been a difference compared to say Hangman when he was champion. I think Bryan wins and then gets beaten quickly by someone else. Not sure who but that feels right.

Liking your own posts really is the cherry on top of the shit sundae you whipped up for yourself in this thread man. Yeesh. Also Collision's venue was awesome, almost everyone said the atmosphere was awesome, and AEW made money on the stay that the venue WANTED them to have (Gave them a good deal and everything), there was literally zero negative about them running there for a month, but you sure tried to find one and dug a hole all the way to China in the process, congrats?

Whatever is in the pipe you two are sharing I would recommend putting it down. Anyway. On topic. Swerve and Monet being strongly booked is great. I'D love to see STP get a serious push as well
