Hobbs’ TNT title run was done the moment he won it. I think they underestimated how much of momentum killer QT would be. It immediately dropped Hobbs down a peg by association, made only worse by the QTV stuff. My advice would be to have a segment where Hobbs destroys everyone in that group and have him move on.

I would almost consider it worth getting QT's piss-stained hands on Hobbs if he then murders that entire stable in one segment. Easy come, easy go That Hobbs/QTV pairing is a dud Swerve has done really nothing Keith Lee swears he is Pucci  QTV felt like death for Hobbs from the jump, but he legit was just a transitional champion between the same one guy. FFS. Swerve should be in the main event, Keith should be in the main event. Keith doesn't even have a long match? He can just lose the match? And it's not like I'm saying strap Swerve up immediately. And look, Jay White just showed up, so we're f***ed. The queue to being a main eventer in AEW just keeps getting longer. But I'm not advocating for hot shotting the title belt to a black guy with no build. But how do we not have a single, notable, permanent main eventer of colour in AEW yet? |

Just reading the last couple pages I think 2 things can be true at once. The diversity in AEW as a whole has gotten better but they do need more diversity in the title scenes... and yes I do think Hobbs was done dirty with the reign (even if it was the plan for awhile)
Also saw a post saying this thread only gets bumped when someone of color loses or wins a title. I wanted to say I think 99.999% of the posts have been in good faith and constructive criticism without being overly negative towards AEW... atleast IMO it has for awhile. I don't think it was in this thread but only rime I felt any argument was in bad faith was when people talked about the Gunns winning the titles from the Acclaimed.

If no one in the back saw that as a problem that's an even bigger problem Blissful ignorance is not really an excuse for blackface tho. A bad look at a time when people are already looking to rake Tony over the coals about stuff. Something easily avoided. Shame something stupid like this overshadowed an otherwise amazing match.

Idk the band well enough to know if this is the dude's normal look or if he chose a bad color scheme, but it clearly seems to be "Mask, bottom paint, and then a stripe down the mouth/chin Maybe he went black and red because of the BCC colors? The other members of the band went different, but I don't think this was intentional by any of them Clearly it backfired, idk if they'll issue an apology or anything, but there's no way anyone saw the optics of it before going out there, or it wouldn't have happened. |
