Im pleased to see Owen get some attention, but he has nothing to do with AEW. He obviously never worked there, never worked with anyone who is there, has absolutely no link to them in any way. It's cool, but it's the wrong company in as far as being able to really go all out. I mean...Martha's never going to be working in any way with the company he did mostly work for (for a very, very good reason) so...

I get it, but as long as the management structure within the main company in which he worked at the time of his tragic death remains the same as it was back in 1999, it’ll only be someone like AEW who will be approved to represent the Owen Hart legacy. Basically, nothing’s happening until Vince is gone, and even then, I wouldn’t count on it.

It gets Owen's name out for a wider audience who really only knew about him because of his death. And I'm glad that WWE doesn't get a dime off this either as they frankly don't deserve to make money off a man they killed due to their stupid decisions. Granted, downside is a real lack of Owen footage, but if the intent is in a good place and all parties are happy, then I think this is a success.

This should shut everybody up that says Martha hates wrestling. She doesn't hate wrestling, she hates the company whose negligence killed her husband. She's accepted honors from wrestling hall of fames, but understandably wants nothing to do with WWE. The only way that Martha would work with WWE, is if Vince sold the company. Otherwise, Owen in anything WWE won't happen. Im pleased to see Owen get some attention, but he has nothing to do with AEW. He obviously never worked there, never worked with anyone who is there, has absolutely no link to them in any way. It's cool, but it's the wrong company in as far as being able to really go all out. Mark Henry works there, and he was friends with Owen. Mark's been close to the Harts for years. I like it, Owen figures, Owen in video games, and a company paying tribute to Owen (who no doubt inspired a lot of guys in AEW).

One other thought. There's a world in which Kevin Steen could end up in the finals for The Owen? Very cool. There’s a non-zero chance for sure, but my first preference would be for a newer rising star to get that first win in the Owen. This would be perfect for someone like a Dante Martin or a Daniel Garcia to win. And in terms of outside participants from other promotions, Josh Alexander from IMPACT should have a deep run in this thing. Brian Jr. would be perfect for this as he fits the criteria and his dad and Owen were very close friends as both started out near the same time at Stampede

Also, imagine if this is one of the first things they run when they’re able to run in Canada.

I need to sit down.
This is tremendous that AEW has an opportunity to honor Owen and his legacy. It should also, if DSOTR didn’t already, dispell that Martha hates wrestling. She doesn’t, she hates that her husband and father of her family was taken from her. This is nice, but… Owen is not back. He can’t come back. So… I’m actually struggling with this a bit. And I can’t celebrate, no matter how heartfelt the honor or how respectful the intent.
Happy but still sad. And the sadness does not pass even with time.

Seeing as Stampede doesn't exist and the WWE was responsible for his death, I think it's the right company, to be perfectly honest.

Awesome to see Owen's memory honored by a company thay isn't directly responsible for his death. Looking forward to all of this.

I've got no problem with AEW paying respect to other parts of wrestling history and not just its own. If they want to do a tribute to Andre the Giant or Macho Man, too, I'd be fine with that as well!

I think this is a wonderful thing for them to do. Things like the Legends Of Wrestling games were cool but AEW have the platform to make sure his name and legacy get celebrated in the mainstream while still ensuring that WWE doesn't make any money off of it, which is the way it should be.

This is cool. Could Bret make another appearance for them to award the first winner of the tournament? I just hope he doesn't nearly fall off the stage this time. Also, FTR better be made Bret's official bodyguards.

Yeah, Kevin Steen winning would be awesome if it happens after his contract with WWE ends.

It's cool, but it's the wrong company in as far as being able to really go all out. So what? It’s not going to happen in WWE so this will be a nice and fitting way for him to be honored with Martha’s permission. And he worked with Mark Henry, Dustin Rhodes, Jim Ross, Jake Roberts, Christian, Billy Gunn, Matt Hardy, Arn Anderson, Tully Blanchard, Big Show. Obviously there’s a decent chance Bret would be present for the Cup Finals if Martha was okay with it, as well.

Also, imagine if this is one of the first things they run when they’re able to run in Canada. I'd love to see that, but AEW would have to wait a little while longer especially if they wanted to run it in Owen's home province of Alberta (Which has been having recent problems keeping the "you know what" under control.)
