I think what happened with Brodie and AEW's reaction showed a lot about how the company's character in dealing with what was a tragic situation. There was no good reason business-wise to do the tribute show how they did or even offer Negative One a contract when he's older or even have him at shows, but the fact they did it anyway and continue to support his family afterwards is not really something you see in the wrestling business period. Even just down to how it's been used on TV and not really used to generate heat. Hell, even down to them not trying to kick up a fuss about WWE doing their own tributes because, like, most of the roster probably know the WWE roster in some ways and that wouldn't feel right.
I can imagine Martha seeing all that and feeling more comfortable in doing this deal because, well, if they were going to do something like Eddiesploitation with Owen, she wouldn't have even accepted any calls.

It'll be won by Kevin 'Owen' Steen when he jumps One other thought. There's a world in which Kevin Steen could end up in the finals for The Owen? Very cool. Yeah, Kevin Steen winning would be awesome if it happens after his contract with WWE ends. This was exactly where my mind went when I saw the news. He idolizes Owen, to the point of using him to name himself in WWE and (more importantly) his son.

I wonder if Martha had any talks with Amanda Huber to talk about the way AEW treated her, Brodie Jr., and Noah during Jon's sickness and after he passed.

Kind of a weird thing out the blue since they have nothing to do with Owen but f*** it, it’s a way to honor his legacy and it seems his wife finds comfort in AEW or very least this is a big f** you to WWE But Owen finally gets to have his memory honored I just remembered this: I think Mark Henry had a big part in this. And if he did, he's awesome.

If that's the case, then in his first 4 months in the company, he's set up a community outreach programme, got Giannis to be front row at a Rampage marking out for the tag tournament finals and set up the Owen Hart Foundation connection which, yeah, he's been worth the hire.

And if he did, he's awesome. I would not be a bit surprised, Henry loved Owen and I know he’s talked to Martha more than once. I believe in the speculation - that the loss of Brodie Lee and how AEW handled it and continues to care for the Huber family made Martha want to give them a chance. Due respect, between Punk, Danielson, Brodie Lee and the Owen Hart family, I’d say we made up for the exploding ring mistake, yes?

Owen Hart is in the game? Holy smokes! That, I was not expecting in the least.

I don't think Martha would be doing this with AEW if they weren't anything but respectful in portraying Owen's legacy. Sticking it to WWE is probably a fringe benefit for both, but I think it's mostly about remembering Owen in a promotion with a large platform that also wasn't responsible for killing him. Oh Martha is well in her right to stick it to WWE, that shouldn’t be misconstrued.

Mark talked about in in his Talk is Jericho episode. He loves helping the community and kids and talked about how they are looked at as heroes to kids and many people so he wanted to set up more community outreach to help give people hope to follow their dreams. WWE didn't want him in that role so he left to find someone who would let him

You know what, I wouldn't be surprised if Vince rang Tony and was like "I heard you are doing a tournament in Owen's honour, pal, do you want any of my guys?" just because Vince is like the worst person on the planet but then he'll just do something really nice for no apparent reason. Obviously it would have to be signed off by Martha. I don't even know if Tony would go for it.

I cannot believe we're getting a modern day Owen Hart figure (excluding the Brawler). It's a literal dream come true; a sentimental win. I can only hope they're able to secure the rights to his logos. They'll unfortunately not be able to use the Slammy design, but hopefully the King of Harts look with the lions, the Black Hart, the Rocket, and the Hart Foundation (sans jacket logo) are possible. I know that Legends game had a few of his notable attires in it, but that might have been a sketchy dodge of copyright. Bret has his merch on PWT, including his logo, and I have no doubt in my mind that he'd give them his blessing to use his stuff for Owen. Hopefully 90% of his stuff is tied directly to him as a performer and not some complicated legal ownership thing with WWE.

Martha legit said she wanted wrestling fans to be able to celebrate Owen but didn't want to deal with anybody associated with WWE. Jericho then got her in touch with PWTees and they started making merchandise for Owen through there... And it's not just Martha either. Both Athena and Oje have made it clear they will never be willing to associate with WWE in anyway

Even if he's past his prime as an on-screen talent, dude does so much community outreach and stuff behind the scenes. Same with Paul Wight.

This is cool. The WWE lost every chance that they had to honor his legacy when they negligently got him killed. I’m glad to see that Martha and AEW can honor/remember him and raise some money for the charity.

Good to hear and honestly I think the least WWE could do is give a bit of footage of Owens career to AEW to help them celebrate him more as most of his career was with WWF,it would be a decent thing to do but as it wouldn't benefit Vince at all I doubt he cares as he didn't care about Owen when he was still here.

I'm cool with it for a couple reasons. It gets Owen's name out for a wider audience who really only knew about him because of his death. And I'm glad that WWE doesn't get a dime off this either as they frankly don't deserve to make money off a man they killed due to their stupid decisions. Granted, downside is a real lack of Owen footage, but if the intent is in a good place and all parties are happy, then I think this is a success. Also, in terms of footage, they have a partnership with NJPW where he was there for a brief time and whilst not exactly the widest part of his career, they have stuff to use. Owen was the 1st western wrestler to win any of the IWGP Belts, when he won the IWGP Jr. Heavyweight Championship

Im pleased to see Owen get some attention, but he has nothing to do with AEW. He obviously never worked there, never worked with anyone who is there, has absolutely no link to them in any way. It's cool, but it's the wrong company in as far as being able to really go all out. the onky " wrong" company to have anything involving Owen is WWE. plus I am sure that they will be able to get people that had close relation to Owen to make it truly mean something

Amazing deal, love it. Make Owen the most OP character in that AEW game yall. Do work. Mark talked about in in his Talk is Jericho episode. Don't push them to the back to be used as butts of jokes, utilize them in the best way possible and they'll flourish because they've been through it all. I enjoy them in AEW more than I've enjoyed them in WWE since, well, since the whole Hall of Pain vs Big Show days.

I think you can have like,Cutler as the joke characte rwith awful stars, but try to have most of the roster balanced.
