What a weird start. Again the leads chemistry is carrying things. I'm usually a fan of weird but like the recent Tennant episodes I think they left good ideas unexplored and the lack of detail is undermining the story and Ruby. Hated that final musical number. It's almost dream logic at times, especially the tone shifts.
I'm guessing the gods the doctor is facing will eventually be a way to undo the mess Chibnall left things in. If not a direct solution at least something to leave more options open.
Also after the nuclear winter.I suspect the snow from Ruby's birth/space babies might actually be Ash from Galifrey.

Whenever there's anything particularly silly, I just amuse myself picturing Hartnell doing it.
"Methane, Charterfield!" *clutches lapels* "Propelling the space babies, through the stars!"

Given the quality level of many of his episodes as showrunner, "contribution" might be an overstatement.

Terrific episode...well...until the ending, bit too much schmatlz {Spoiler}-"I'm not even a Doctor", Moffat's view is The Doctor's title stands for warrior, so that tracks.
-Susan Twist is becoming more and more of a full on antagonist here
-The whole thing about fanatics flooding the algorithm with things that can harm you and creating meaningless wars that don't necessarily need to involve a real external enemy to combat was appropriate commentary. Get ready for the grifters online to flood the YT and twitter algorithms, proving the episode's points to a precise science.
-New companion Verada Sethu made her DW debut. There's a brief interview with her in Doctor Who Unleashed where she reveals she was hired based off the strength of this episode, but with her character's name here being "Monday" it's obvious this might not be quite the whole truth
Cons
-Story did admittedly peak at Ruby being shot
-Final ten minutes were just explaining everything to the characters and the audience like they couldn't process anything on their own
-Moffat kids with the exception of Young Amy are still irritable and void of acting ability. No girl that age talks like that either.

I thought that was a great episode. When it comes to self contained stories that aren't big story arcs, Moffat is one of the best of the modern Who writers, IMO. Ncuti was great again as well.

Really enjoyed that. They'd been hyping it up a bit and I was hoping not to be let down, but it was good stuff. Especially great for Ncuti, had to act his socks off.

I have to say, this does come off as them specifically making an answer to "Kerblam".
An episode with an explosive sound effect name, where a faceless company that completely controls peoples' lives' "system" is central to the entire situation and predicament.

Ok so this proves Moffat is fine at writing episodes but shit at running shows I've been preaching that for years. He was great when working under RTD. Once he had the reins he became the Bendis of Who writers. Plots that had holes large enough to drive through, reinventing the angels every single time he went back to that well (and he went there often) and forcing characters to alter tosuit whatever plot he settled on. Moffatt as head writer was a mess. Moffatt working under RTD produced several classic episodes.

He’s my favorite writer on the series when he’s not in charge of it.

I'll admit, Moffat's first 2 seasons were my favorite of Doctor Who, but I get why that might not be the case for the rest of his run. The quality really began to go downhill after a bit. Still, Eleventh Hour is easily my favorite Doctor Who episode.

Moffat's first series as showrunner (series five) is my favourite of the entire Nu Who era. Series six is almost as good until it peaks at "Good Man Goes To War" after which it's filler after filler after filler and Smith's performance just got worse and worse, he's my least favourite of the Nu Who Doctors. I didn't enjoy a lot of Moffat's run after series six, although I love series nine more than series ten

I almost gave up on the show during Moffatt's first season at the helm. It was only through a couple of friends letting me know it would get better that I stuck with it. That said, Smith was alright when being wacky doctor but he didn't really have the chops for intense/angry doctor like Eccleston or Tennant. They were capable of making you believe the doctor could be this whimsical figure but also, they could show you the effects of what they did during the time war and all the horrors they had experienced. Smith at his best could not hold a candle to them unfortunately.
