I've always had a feeling that if Kurt lived maybe Nirvana take a sabbatical for a few years and the Foo Fighters become Dave's main focus anyway I've always understood it that Dave was starting to have a foot out the door around the time Kurt died. I never knew that, that's interesting. Was it speculated to be more dissatisfaction with Nirvana or just wanting to do his own thing?
As someone who really likes Bleach through Nevermind but In Utero not so much, and finds Unpugged In New York a pretty boring listen, I figure any future Nirvana output would not have matched the early stuff anyway.
If they even continued. Maybe Kurt Cobain would have done stuff outside of Nirvana, who knows?

What if Schwarzenegger had played Kyle Reese?
What if OJ Simpson had played the T-800?

I think more than anything, he was ready to do his own music. The biggest thing with Kurt/Nirvana as that based on his suicide note (or draft of a retirement letter, if you believe he was murdered and lines were added to said note) is that Kurt was completely burnt out. So the possibility existed that had he lived Nirvana was headed for at the very least, a hiatus

What if Marty McFly didn't go back to the old west for Doc? 1955 Doc could just not invent the time machine and therefore would never had ended up in 1885. But if Doc was killed in 1885 by Biff. That means he's not around in 55 to build the time machine that sent him there in the first place. Thus erasing the entire adventure they just went on and creating its own paradox.

My favourite is Courtney Cox was originally going to be Rachel and Jennifer Aniston Monica. Really impossible to see, but interesting to think about. Similarly... Orignally Betty White was to be Blanche and Rue McClanahan to be Rose. Raymond Burr originally read for the part of DA Hamilton Burger... and William Hopper read for Perry Mason.

what if Neil Young wasnt such a trash bag twords people he works with and doesnt make a side career out of screwing over Stephen Stills?? This would mean Buffalo Springfield wouldnt have broken up. This also means that Stills never panic recruits David Crosby to replace Neil in the band at Monterey who had quit for the 3rd time days earlier and in turn doesnt cause the rift within The Byrds.
What if Stephen Stills and Paul Williams wind up as members of The Monkees instead of Peter Tork and Micky Dolenz??
What if the hollywood thing worked out for a younger Paul Williams and he never started writing songs??

The music doesn't die that day by Clear Lake Iowa. All those guys survive AND we never get the America Pie song. Also, nobody knows where the hell Clear Lake Iowa is.
So many fingers of fate tied up in that one accident.

What if MJ had been found guilty in his first trial? Does his entire back catalogue get the Benoit treatment?
On the flip side, what if he hadn’t been given the injections that subsequently killed him and was able to do that massive tour documented in ‘This Is It’? Does it rejuvenate his career to do more albums?

Does it rejuvenate his career to do more albums? He never was going to be anywhere near his prime, but I do think he had some gas left in the tank. Enough to do a couple of tours and then calling it a day

He would have gotten the un-person treatment because everyone hates a diddler.

What if Matt Groening decides to turn Life in Hell into the Tracy Ullman shorts, which is what his meeting was for? No Simpsons. That changes a lot about contemporary animation.

The most interesting one for me is Jim Morrison. Would he have eventually gotten clean? What would his later albums, if any, have sounded like? He seemed like someone who might run record execs the wrong way if they try to meddle in his songwriting, and someone who was not willing to compromise creatively. What would he think about the music scene over the years?

dave had already put out/had released marigold from the in utero recording sessions, and was recording his own stuff on the side (there's an interview, I believe, without looking it up, that it's from howard stern, where dave talks about playing a couple of the foo fighter songs for kurt to see what he thought), so to nirvana fans, he was becoming "more than just the drummer". I've also heard it was since who knows what is going on with nirvana, I'll record my own stuff in meantime while nirvana stuff gets figured out. Towards the end, nirvana was on a "who knows what we're doing now" break, so he was just recording stuff to kill time, is what I heard. They had the incident in rome, which ended the tour, and after that they were at home hanging around for two months until the end. And that kurt was getting into more acoustic singer/songwriter strum chords on an acoustic type of stuff, or doing something with michael stipe. There was the thing about them doing/not doing/maybe/but who knows lollapalooza 1994 and then taking a break after that.

What if Def Leppard kept Jim Steinman as producer for Hysteria? Would it still be seen as one of the top rock albums of the 1980s (commercially and critically)? Love Bites and Gods of War both have kind of a Steinman sound, so some of his influence must have rubbed off on the band. love bites was a mutt lange song, so that song would be different, lol. Was steinman big on all of the overdubs? Because there's nine million vocal overdubs on hysteria (the monk chanting on the middle part in rocket, the chorus of gods of war, etc), would all of that change?

What would have been the impact on the entertainment industry, especially the video game industry, if Columbine never happened? Before that, the ESRB ratings were seen mostly as a suggestion and were rarely enforced. Would games like GTA and Call of Duty have created the same moral panic without a specific incident to cite to for the negative effect? Would there be attempts at legislation to prevent the sale of the games to kids, and subsequent efforts by the retailers to enforce the ratings?
