The NIL thing is gross and exploitative but really no more so than college sports in general but its the tiniest incremental step to being less gross and exploitative that people will point to for decades as why we can't make it better. edit: The Cavinder twins are already famous enough that I'm not sure why they'd bother with a NXT contract if they work out. They'd be getting so many brand sponsorships for their instagram and tiktoks that they'd be crazy to give up. The NIL is very good for the athletes, no? It’s essentially a way for them to monetize their growing fame during college. Are you saying they should just be getting salaries from the schools?

I mean, they should be anyway considering the size of college sports and how much coaching staff make but that also doesn’t really have much to do with projects like this which, if executed right, are good things.

Yeah, because past efforts of the wwe trying to build stars 100% from the ground up en masse has been a big success. You mean like Kurt Angle, Batista, John Cena, Big E, Reigns and so on? and also Maven, Nidia, Jackie Gayda and so on? Anytime there's an assembly line approach, it has always ended in failure (hence why I said "en masse"). Having to rely entirely on college athletes will go the same, and they'll fall back on indie workers again. Also, John Cena wrestled in the indies before heading to the wwe. He didn't jump straight from sports to the E.

No, but neither are the Indy guys. It’s so ridiculous and cynical to just brush off these people because they aren’t from the indies or don’t have “passion” for wrestling. They’re a bunch of kids that could work out or not, they’re welcome to get that shot.

If this picks up attention, probably, and it's something they may do, anyway, but they might wait for it to go to court like they did with Riddle.

There is a part of me that thinks they should wait for an actual conviction; while I firmly believe every accuser should be believed in so far as it should launch an investigation, I don't believe every accusation is an automatic guilty verdict and should cost someone their whole life. They should likely at least put the offer on hold until things are concluded, at the very least.

I doubt that the Cavinder twins ever do any actual wrestling, they’re signing NIL’s with a bunch of places and the WWE would probably be a pay cut and a lot of BS they don’t want to deal with.

Not to mention they are already building a brand for themselves. Do they want it associated with WWE right now? And even after the shitshow is over they will probably be better off financially without WWE controlling their online presence.

Yeah, there’s not a world where the Cavinder twins don’t pick being eligible for the WNBA and potentially building the profile of that league over basically entering a system that can potentially toss you out in six months if you don’t make the right improvements. Absolutely none. Especially since, unlike WWE, WNBA teams usually transport their own talent around.

And the WNBA will probably make them a focal point of advertising, and they should get a deal with Nike or a bigger deal with Champs.

Absolutely none. Especially since, unlike WWE, WNBA teams usually transport their own talent around. I think they’d be likely to go that route for the advertising/sponsorship opportunities (if they present themselves). But WNBA salaries are nothing special either. I think the rookie salary is $60,000, the average is around $120,000 and the highest anyone is paid is $228,000. That being said, they haven’t shown any interest in wrestling at all so I’m sure it’s not even on their radar (except for cashing the WWE NIL check).

The whole Brittney Griner debacle is because of how shit WNBA pay is for even their bigger names. They can make double or even triple their WNBA salary playing in Russia.
Not that WWE is a better or more stable option lately. And Griner's situation might lead to significant pay raises for WNBA athletes so they don't have to go through what she's going through right now.

I was next in line but somebody cut so now I gotta jump em from behind ☹️ Do it at the CWC car park. Apparently that’s just a place where crime is legal.
