Someone called Bowens a f***ing f word loud enough it came through on the feed. There was enough transphobic and anti-asian comments that they've been making the rounds online all day.
Just don't dismiss it because it was a small percentage because that enables them.
Hell to make it more personal the sheer level of misogyny in a crowd has put my partner off seeing wrestling live entirely.

No one's dismissing it, everyone is condemning it Nine thousand plus attended this show, including FAN users, calling them a bad crowd because of these assholes when most of tbe nine thousand plus knew how to behave like civilized people and in fact did, to me is a shit thing to do. Direct the anger where it should be directed. "Some shitty fans in the Long Island crowd" is a way better and truthful title than this.

Crowds have been called bad on here just for not being particularly vocal, I think we can call out when there were several distinct instances of bigotry.

People in this thread have dismissed it outright despite the legitimate concerns raised. Trying to argue over the semantics of the language used to describe what was clearly a crap experience for people who attended is cowardly.

I just thought calling an entire crowd shit for something that some shit individuals did wasnt the right move. Especially when people who are on the proboard went. I'm saying the people who were dicks should be held responsible and called out. All I was also saying is not everyone in that crowd was bad. Calling me a coward for that seems a tad much, especially when I've done nothing but agree that the people who were being jackasses and ruining the experience for others should absolutely be punished.

By making your argument focusing on 'well most people were good' is cowardly. Not that you're a coward, but it is cowardly. Because by centring your argument on the majority who were being awesome fans, to diminish the effect of the more c***y ones means you aren't calling them out. If you hear stuff like that and your worry is 'well that doesn't mean it was a bad crowd', it means your priorities are screwed.

CM Punk never told any lies.
Except for that time he said he threw a dude through a bar window on the iconic ROH shoot with Joe. I think he may have lied about that.

IIRC, didn't he say that Joe threw someone through a window in a different incident, and he bailed on a fight he started while thinking of that? Still a high chance of being a fabrication, but a bit more believable.

I was more trying to focus on thw people who were in fact being assholes than trying to blanket the entire crowd as being assholes. Sorry if that means my priorities are screwed? My point wasn't me trying to waive a hand dismissively and say most of the crowd was good so who cares, my point was the entire crowd werent supporting the actions of the assholes, so I was trying to direct the hatred where it should have been directed. At the people who deserve it and do it at wrestling events, Long Island or otherwise

They were talking about how they share parallel lives or something like that. Either way tho Punk talked about that fight like he was The Incredible Hulk I remember lol.

Noone here said it, though plenty of twitter replies did, so I'm just gonna.
"Fans" who do this shit should be identified and banned from all future events. Period. There's no place for this in an ever more diverse wrestling scene. More and more professional wrestlers are queer in some way. There's no space for homophobes and transphobes, or racists, or sexists. AEW should make it clear that this shit isn't acceptable. They don't need to make a public statement (though I would appreciate it) saying so, but they absolutely should ban these sort of people from their events.

I was there and for me at least, it was a fun time. I was surrounded by some assholes in Newark so glad I got to be around some better folks for this show. Is this what getting to the show early is like This is an accurate description of the Canadian hockey media overhyping the Maple Leafs and why the team is so easy to hate.

I hope they never go back to LI again. I know they will, but that dump doesn't deserve AEW.

At the people who deserve it and do it at wrestling events, Long Island or otherwise Few things: 1. I think the reality is nobody here thinks that it's OK that anyone is harassed or made to feel uncomfortable. It goes without saying that these people shouldn't be allowed in arenas or society, but your point is taken that it still should be said. 2. Calling it a "bad" crowd on a pro wrestling board is going to naturally lead people to discuss a crowd as a whole, and I think that's also ok, though. It's inexcusable that these things happen and I know some companies like GCW have actually been able to weed out and ban assholes. Hopefully AEW can do the same.

This is not just AEW, but wrestling shows in general don't seem strict enough about this kind of thing. Even football of all things will put games on hold or cancle it outright if a crowd is being racist. Just do a video package or something whilst gathering the offenders and escorting them out.

I don't know if they have them at all the stadiums, but I do know some have a text message service where you can anonymously report people who were acting up. I will admit I haven't seen it used at any wrestling show, but it might be a good way to curb this shit.

I think part of it is that it had been feeling harder and harder to be that kind of asshole wrestling fan, especially in the indies. Way, way more women in the crowds than there had been, women getting more and more spotlight as performers. Lots of LGBTQ performers popping up. And way more tolerance for nerdy or drama-kid wrestlers. So to see public backsliding in crowds is disheartening.
I'm less inclined to blame the LI crowd specifically as I am to focus on AEW's audience as a whole. It's obviously a small minority of AEW fans who are assholes, but there is a bloc of asshole fans who've seized onto AEW.

Didn't we have people chanting the f slur at Cody during that tag match a few weeks ago, too? There's this really ugly undercurrent of chuds latching onto AEW kind of in spite of how the company has presented some of its things. They're here for the wrestling and think it's fun to be absoluite slime toward the stuff they don't like. AEW had better isolate these creepoids and start chucking them fast, before people start thinking this is okay to do and it begins to turn the crowd environment more hostile.
