This kind of reaction always mystifies me, because it's agreeing the people are doing something wrong while utterly shifting any responsibility away from them and onto their targets. Nope. They are completely at fault for acting like that. You're going out of your way to look for victim blaming where there isn't any. I'm afraid you'll have to do your crusading elsewhere.

Lol, sorry. I get super defensive if someone accuses me of siding with bigots. They're literally the only group of people I hate.

These people are total dicks, but do people really expect otherwise? Literally every large crowd is going to have some assholes. I feel bad for the fans around who were offended, but I hope these wrestlers are tough enough to take insults from drunken morons. Counterpoint: Even the thickest skin doesn't just magically make you immune from something hurting or from the accumulated weight of the misery becoming enough that something gets to you, and typically the kinds of people who can receive all that hate and bvile and it not hurt them? They havel ived profoundly sad lives and developed that resistance through so much shit that they aren't just magically tough so much as they've become worn down and traumatized to a point of numbness over what they're receiving. Carp didn't accuse you of siding with bigots, but if there's no group you really hate more, I want you to look back at this post again, and really look at what you've said here. "Sometimes, people are vile." Aside from expressing a misplaced hope wrestlers will be strong enough to not be hurt by that vileness, all you really express is wondering why anyone thought differently, as if anybody is shocked by the idea there would be hate. Resigned to it as an inevitability, your tone absolutely does imply a very different angle to it. "You should expect that some people are going to hate your very existence no matter what you do" is not a position of empathy and it's not really a condemnation of the bigotry nearly as strong as you're coming back around with two posts later. Also "I hope you're tough enough to not let this hurt you" is kinda victim blamey, I don't know what to tell you. That's absolutely putting the onus of the hurt onto the people who have to be strong enough to resist it.

I know it's tempting to say "Long Island was a Bad Crowd" but the truth is, there's bad apples in every crowd and that shouldn't cause you to lose sight of the fact that Long Island as a whole is bad. Unless someone wants to make the argument that they're enablers for not making sure they got thrown out and made examples of, ASAP. I wouldn't personally make that argument, but I'm sure someone on Twitter or Reddit has by now.
