There is addiction, and then there are the causes of addiction, aka pain, depression, anxiety, frustration, etc. There is also a great deal of upheaval going on as a result of the pandemic and other factors. There's no question that there has been upheaval in WWE over the past year/year and a half and that almost certainly has played on the minds of a lot of its talent. I can't imagine Jeff being untouched by it.
80+ people have been released in 2021; survivor's guilt in a workplace is a thing (trust me; I know.) Add to that confusing and arbitrary booking strategies that still manage to pass over many of the roster's more popular talents, a tightening financial situation (those social-media accounts and merch sales were a big chunk of a wrestler's revenue) and growing questions about the company's future, and it seems as though the Great Resignation is in the offing.
My point is that I don't blame Jeff for leaving WWE. As troubling as the departure seemed to be, he owes nobody a damn thing. WWE won't try to claw him back; he seems happier to be free of the place; and any accusations of abusing our trust can be addressed to the wall. What he did was better for all involved, I think.
And really, we're going to give Jeff Hardy a pranging for emotionally manipulating us when WWE's been doing far worse for years with our complicity?

He was released because he didn’t accept their offer of rehab for his substance issues. And any pinning of his substance issues on WWE releasing other talent or on his creative booking plans is a bit misplaced when considering Jeff’s history. There are plenty of other topics to validly pin blame and rip on the company for, but this doesn’t seem like one of them.

f***,I liked more when people just assumed he was on drugs At least there is SOME evidence for it,people saying he faked it to get released with nothing to back it up is scummy as hell.Just seems like you want more reasons to shit on the guy It's just baseless speculation at best. Even SRS' WWE source called it an absurd take. There's zero evidence or even hearsay that anything like that happened.

Look I'm the first to leap onto WWE for Big Real World Serious Problems, but there's a man who isn't well and who has struggled with addiction for many years. Addiction he's struggled with in multiple decades, in multiple companies, and for complex reasons. To accuse it of being WWE in recent years is to do a disservice to the very real problems he's facing. This isn't about other companies, this isn't about booking. He's not well, and this situation deserves sympathy, not making this into something it's not and trying to pin this on WWE. Wrestling is littered with a lot of problems that aren't Vince McMahon's fault. Always have been. I get what having A Bad Guy To Blame can do for making things easier to understand, but WWE didn't do this to him and unless somehting concrete comes out saying they did, it's kind of f***ed up to go down the list of possible reasons they fed his relapse.

Let’s not try and make any wild accusations or responses to them. We know what we know so far so anything broader than that on either end will just lead to the thread getting locked.

yeah, I'm still not of the mindset that he's using again. I honestly think he was having a rough time, and they just assumed he was back on the shit, and just decided to cut their losses. The video that aired on Twitch, I mean sure it was somewhat planned out. But I've seen Jeff Hardy f***ed up. That was not it. The promo about LAW wrestling, the CM Punk shoot at 4am in a Waffle House, and of course Victory Road. Now if it comes out that he is drinking or something again, then sure I'll admit that I'm wrong. I think any speculation about him relapsing without any real concrete evidence of him doing so is equally disgusting as the speculation that he's faking a relapse. I think he had an off night, left, and WWE looking at the past decided it wasn't worth it if he was using, and went into budget cut mode.

Yeah thw notion that he would fake a relapse is ridiculous imo. I really think that is people running wild with a situation we may never know the full details of.
Im glad Jeff looks in good spirits in that video. I just hope for the best here, wrestling or otherwise

If he's not using but they thought he was and offered him rehab, his refusal could have come with maybe a "Test me, I'll prove I'm not using." If he'd been trimmed in a release wave or told budget cuts then this post would carry a lot more weight, but the only word on it has been "refused rehab".

Not sure I saw this in here, but this was SRS’s quote from his audio show soon after the release:

But WWE has also shown itself a crappy company when it comes to the day-to-day satisfaction of its independent contractors (and the fans, let's not forget.) So, when two issues coincide, among others, it is more than reasonable that someone we know to be vulnerable might be inclined to make (as we see it) bad choices to which the company might respond as they did. There have been stressors during the last twenty months that might make someone like Jeff Hardy unhappy enough to be tempted off the wagon to cope; to suggest that those can't be contributing factors to what's happened is ludicrous.

I feel the both of you need to step away a bit just so it doesn’t get more shady. As I said before, we only know what we know so it’s better to talk about that rather than wildly speculate about it.

Sadly I can't say I'm surprised that he's been let go but I hope wherever he goes or does next goes well for him.

I will still say the only thing I think Jeff may have done that is somewhat messed up is maybe turn down rehab to get out of his contract... and even that's a stretch

Something to think about, he may not have relapsed but could be in a state where WWE feels he could and wanted him to get help before it got to that point.

It's tweets like this that make me ashamed to be a wrestling fan at times.
Like...people outside of the wrestling bubble would see that as incredibly unprofessional at best.

I am a huge Hardy Boy fan, mostly the early days when I was still watching. I waited six hours in line to meet them with Terri at an autograph signing and it was worth it. But I wouldn't put anything past both of them to try and work whoever they could to reunite and make what they consider "magic" again as brothers.
Outside of assault or murder, there's very little any wrestler can do that is worst than things Vince has done but with that being said, if this is a "work" for a release I do hope Jeff and Matt by proxy are never hired by WWE again. To me, if it is a work, how Jeff has acted during his career, drugs or no drugs, is always in total disrespect for the fans and other wrestlers, which is sad because I know he loves the fans and I think the wrestlers too. And if they did get together in AEW, there will come a time when they get stale and then want to do back to WWE. It's like a revolving door with them.
Of course this is all "speculation" but Matlock, Jessica Fletcher and Perry Mason solved lots of crimes with such speculation.

Again, let's not throw around speculation without much to back it up. I won't be saying it again.
We know WWE's position, we know Jeff Hardy's position and we also know WWE wouldn't have thought Jeff would do anything like speculated because they likely would have found a way to keep him under contract if they did.
Anything else will just bring up feelings that, frankly, nobody knows if there's a legit cause for them.
Also, let's not make it a habit to bring up random tweets here, yeah? It's not quite the same as the forum rule but it has the same principle of potentially sending people places to screw with them and it causes us to have a bad image.
