I sort of can't blame WWE for jumping the gun
I think they had it backwards tho. Seems like they thought offering him rehab was basically as good as a suspension. Jeff drew attention to himself and he was on very thin ice as he himself said.
However, WWE should just said listen we want to test you and we are going to take you off the road for a little until the test come back. If he still said nah then you cut his ass.
In theory idea was in right place but the execution was horrible

If I was him, I'd want to win the Rumble and face Roman at Mania. One last title run. Jeff would not be going over Roman who've they've spent the better part of 2 full years building as the ultra uber omega level 9000 code red king of kings end boss. Then again he is a past his prime star from the Attitude Era...

Which the test showing. So what would be the rehab be for? The WWE I can't understand how they could mishandled this whole thing. 6 Weeks of holding test results. Firing someone without all the information first. This whole this was executed like it was HR first day on the job without training.

This company is simply incompetent. I know addicts often relapse and deny it (I watched DDP's Jake documentary recently and cried so much) but if in this instance he hadn't relapsed I can't imagine how angry it would have made him to be offered rehab.

This whole thing doesn't pass the smell test I wonder if Jeff had to take that too.

This whole thing doesn't pass the smell test I'm starting to wonder if like, there was some other errant behavior or something they were letting pass and that's why they approached him about rehab. The whole thing doesn't add up to me. WWE's front office sucks and I know I've questioned what's going on over there with what's falling through the cracks, but something doesn't add up. There were reports when this all started that Jeff wasn't showing up to signings or appearances and others were filling in for him. Part of me wonders if it's a situation where if WWE went after Jeff about it, it could blow up on them so they're just instead taking the image hit. I don't mean to come across like a WWE apologist, it just strikes me as incredibly bizarre that this company would handle something like this poorly. Like the company or not, they've usually done a good job at helping their talent when it comes to addiction over the last decade and a half.

Wonder if the footage going viral caused WWE to act that way rather than anything else. I know several wrestlers who talked about getting their bell rung and basically being "blackout drunk" for much of the match

Matt's claiming Jeff was of sound mind and body and that he was just tired of it all. If that's the case, so be it, but we've never, ever heard of WWE asking somebody to go to rehab without tangible proof. I'm not rooting for Jeff to be unwell at all, I have just never heard of this company saying 'go to rehab' to somebody without somebody deserving it.

Jeff said, “f*** this, it ain’t fun anymore.” More power to him. WWE needs Jeff way more than Jeff needs WWE. Oh, and f*** WWE for just assuming he was high.
