And next week is a Patreon sponsored review Man of Steel, which I will be skipping. Barely can cope with this board's weird obsession with bringing up Zack Snyder, don't need to watch one of the people I watch spend an hour rant about it. So is anybody else just not feeling this series? Maybe it's because I'm not a horror movie guy and this just feels like another thing that gets in the way of Linkara reviewing bad comics. Weirdly, I'm also not a horror guy but I have to say, I sort of dig him talking about horror movies. Not really sure why, guess it's just me diversifying my knowledge without actually watching horror movies. And hey, if it allows him to do something different to not get burnt out on the main stuff, more power to him. Plus, it adds another character to the AT4W Universe.

My thing with LNDF is he hasn't really done TOO much to differentiate Clive Sinclair from himself save for a slight different tone of voice. At least from what I've seen of it.

Youtube tried to reject it!
But it's Snyder-time.

I've said it before and I'll say it again, Krypton is not Superman's origin, it's merely an explanation for his powers. He's a good person who wants to help other people, and, like Liam Neeson, has a very particular set of skills to do it with. If Hollywood writers would learn this we might actually get some good Superman movies.

Yeah, it's been so long since I saw it I forgot that Snyder muddled the Nature vs. Nurture idea that the script was clearly going for THAT much more. I usually just pointed out that Jor-El beats the shit out of Zod... pretty much proving the myth that he was this unstoppable super soldier since the scientist man handled him pretty easily until he got distracted and a cheap shot. but yeah Clark Kent is Superman, he doesn't know Krypton... it blew up like right after he was born... the timescale slides back and forth... but it's never more than like a year tops. Krypton is more the land of his ancestors than it really is of his... all of his experiences and life lessons didn't teach him how to be an adult Kryptonian it taught him how to be an Adult Human. The fact that Snyder turned Pa Kent into a complete psychopath is some of the biggest character assassination I've ever seen outside of just shooting some random guy and claiming it was Jimmy Olsen. The way that Pa Kent should have answered the "Should I have let them die?" from Pa is not and should never be "maybe" if you want to go into the people will fear you or whatever bullshit... start it off with "No, of course not. But..." Not to mention the "SHE CALLED HIM A MONSTER!" when she clearly didn't... she was clearly thankful that it happened.

I don't often call an adaptation wrong but if you wanted to make this movie it being about Superman makes no f***ing sense

Linkara returns to Kingdom of Monsters with his latest review.
Anybody who had any issues with the length of the Man of Steel review shouldn't have any issues with this one.

Has Linkara ever covered the 70s Marvel Godzilla series?

Has Linkara ever covered the 70s Marvel Godzilla series? Sorta. His Summer 2018 Longbox of the Damned (this version was hosted by Dr. Linksano instead of Moarte) was themed a "Godzillathon" and the first video was on the Marvel run. It was only a twelve minute video on a 24 issue run of a comic, so it wasn't that terribly in-depth.

A good overview of the story, but it just hits one of my least favourite parts of superhero comics where honestly killing the villains makes more sense than letting them live. I know about idealism and that, but when someone rampages through a city, murdering hundreds of people with every indication that they'll do it again, knowing that they're just going to break out of prison to repeat the process all too soon, it undercuts the point of the heroes. I'm not saying that Spider-Man should have killed Carnage, or broken his rule, there are times where I just wonder why no one hasn't done it yet.

This comic or Atop the Fourth Wall in general? I'm assuming you mean the former (otherwise why did you come into this thread in the first place?). DC Challenge! was an experimental twelve issue mini-series DC produced in the mid-80's (right before Crisis on Infinite Earths) where each issue was written by a different writer, none of the writers allowed to consult with each other about what they were doing. The ground rules were you had to continue the story from the previous issues, were allowed to use any DC character in its history and each issue had to end on a seemingly unsolvable cliffhanger that the next writer had to solve in the next issue. It resulted in some crazy stuff such as Aquaman staying "hydrated" in the desert by drinking the blood of a vulture that was circling him.

Which sounds fun, but it seems like some of this almost had a "Star Wars Episodes 7-9" quality where some writers hated what they were given and just tried to bury that and put their own stuff in, only for the next writer to do the same, and with this many writers that gets wild.

Next week... ish... maybe... Next time is the 700th episode. he's got to start saying no to videos that are going to be feature length if he wants to keep to his schedule. Or find out what the requests are.. then set the schedule. If something's double the work, charge double and set aside 2 weeks for it, not just have a gap that says "patreon review" then whatever they ask goes in there.
