I know this is not a novel concept, especially when you look at how Lana used to be depicted as Russian with her Russian accent. But I remembered how back in the late-2000s to early-2010s that Maryse used to talk with French accent, and I mean the kind of accent from someone from France.
When she came back in the mid-2010s, she started using her actual voice. I know she's been using her real accent for a while now, but it's funny when looking back at her late-2000s to early-2010s run that she talked like she was from France.

It may have to do with the fact she's French Canadian...

It may have to do with the fact she's French Canadian... Yeah, she had that accent... when she first showed up in the Diva Search she mentioned she'd only learned English like 2 months before. Accents erode after time, she's lived in America for like 14 years at this point.

I was instantly a fan when, in one of her first Diva Search appearances, she said she wanted to be the next “air flying” diva like Fabulous Moolah and Sable.

I think her accent has just kinda faded. Kevin Owens accent was much more noticeable in his younger days, but it has disappeared a lot over time.

In my opinion, when Maryse came to WWE back in the late-2000s, she had that French accent that sounded like she was from France. It was the same way with Rene Dupree back in the early-2000s, and then I later found a shoot interview and noticed that his voice sounded a little different. Both are French-Canadian, by the way.

Lol.
Maryse discussed her first meeting with The Miz on WrestleTalk TV: "He was so mean to me. Oh my God. I couldn’t speak English, and he was rubbing it in my face. He was just like, ‘You can’t speak English. What are you doing here? You can’t work with the biggest sports entertainment company in the world if you don’t speak a word of English," Maryse said (h/t Bustle).
The Miz on seeing Maryse for the first time: “I’ll never forget the first time she walked into the room, just stunning, drop dead gorgeous, but couldn’t speak any English whatsoever.”

First impressions aren't everything, sometimes.

You know accents can change, right? Becky Lynch sounds half-American these days and English is her first language. Maryse is from a city that's about 97% French speaking, and, to be honest with you, her accent at the time sounds distinctly like many French Canadians do speaking English. It's distinct from an actual metropolitan French accent. Today, her accent speaking English has dramatically lessened because she doesn't live in a city with 97% French speakers, but she still has an accent. It's evident on quite a lot of words. I'd be shocked if her accent speaking French has changed at all, and I would also be surprised if it turned out she was doing a French accent in the first place, because - I can speak French, and I can do an American accent, but doing an even remotely plausible American accent while speaking French sounds rather difficult, and I'm sure a similar problem would present itself if you asked a francophone New Brunswicker to do a French accent while speaking English.

A lot of French Canadians completely lose their accent once they are speaking English more then their native language. I have friends who grew up in Quebec then moved here to Ontario. You'd never know when speaking to them.
